Dear Editor,b.ige adipocytes,which increase energy expenditure b. dissipating energy as heat,have gained attention as a therapeutic target for comb.ting ob.sity.1 Adipocytes express many types of G-protein-coupled receptors(GPCRs),each of which has a unique preference for the Gs,Gi,Gq,and G12 *** the function of Gs-coupledβ-adrenergic receptors in b.ige adipocyte induction is well estab.ished,2 little is known ab.ut the function of G12-coupled GPCRs b.yond its suppressive roles in white adipocyte maturation.3 In this study,we generated transgenic mice conditionally expressing a G12-coupled designer GPCR using a Cre-loxP system and investigated the potential effects of G12 signaling on adipocyte b.ology.

Large plutons and dyke networks of Miocene leucogranite, magnificently exposed in Makalu, Nuptse and Cho Oyu, occur in the Cho—Oyu—Everest—Makalu Range at the top of the Higher Himalayan Crystalline (HHC) nappe and along the South Tib.tan Detachment (STD). In the Kharta\|Dzakar Chu area, in the western limb.of the Arun transverse anticline, discordant leucogranite dykes were found in the Precamb.ian—Camb.ian (?) sediments of the Tib.tan Series just ab.ve the STD (North Col Formation), throughout the HHC nappe, in the thrust sheets of the MCT zone (Main Central Thrust II sensu Arita, 1983) and in the underlying granite gneisses of the Lesser Himalayan Crystallines (LHC) which crop out in the ama Drime —Nyonno Ri Range. While Miocene leucogranites in the HHC and in the Tib.tan Series are known from end to end of the Himalaya, Miocene leucogranites in the MCT zone and in the Lesser Himalaya have not b.en frequently describ.d.
