In this paper, the numerical predictions of 3D hydrodynamics and power consumption in a vessel stirred by mul- tiple eccentrically located impellers are presented. The vessel is a fiat-bottomed cylindrical one equipped with six-curved bladed impellers. Aqueous solutions of xanthan gum are used, which have a shear thinning behavior with yield stress. The influence of several parameters on the mixing efficiency has been investigated, namely： the stirring rate, fluid theology, impeller number and impeller clearance from the tank bottom. Our predicted results are compared with other experimental data and a satisfactory agreement is found.

Strategy of the shaft eccentricity is introduced to enhance the mixing characteristics in a flat bottomed cylindrical vessel without baffles. The mixing is ensured by a six-curved blade impeller. Three solutions which are models of food emulsions are used as working fluids. These solutions have a shear thinning behavior modeled by the power-law. The effects of fluid properties, stirring rates, impeller rotational direction and impeller eccentricity on the 3D flow fields and power consumption are investigated. Three values of impeller eccentricity are considered, namely 0%, 24% and 48% of the vessel diameter. It is found that the opposite clockwise rotational direction reduces the power consumption, compared with the clockwise rotational direction. Also, the obtained results show that an impeller placed at an eccentric position between 24% and 48% of the vessel diameter and at the third of the vessel height may ensure the best mixing characteristics.

The 3-D flow fields and power consumption in a vessel stirred by multistage Scaba 6SRGT impeller have been investiga- ted. The Xanthan gum solutions in water were used, which have a shear thinning behavior with yield stress. This study was carried out with the help of a CFD package （CFX 13.0, Ansys Inc.） which is based on the finite volume method to solve the momentum equations. The effects of stirring rate, fluid rheology, impeller number, impeller location and vessel size on the performance of such stirred system are presented. To validate the CFD model, our predicted results have been compared with other literature data and a satisfactory agreement has been found.

The aim of this paper is to study the effect of agitator’s types on the turbulent flows in stirred tanks without and with *** hydrodynamics behavior induced by four different agitator’s types:a Rushton turbine(RT),a circular blade turbine(CBT),a diverging triangular blade turbine(DTBT)and converging triangular blade turbine(CTBT)are numerically predicted by solving the Navier-Stokes equations and RNGκ–εturbulent *** simulations are carried out using the Multi Reference Frame(MRF)*** numerical results showed good agreement with *** find that the agitator CTBT gives an important profit on the power consumption per report/ratio the others and DTBT give a good reduction of the vortex size of the impeller angles.

The role of baffles in mechanically stirred tanks is to promote the stability of power drawn by the impeller and to avoid the fluid swirling, thus enhancing mixing. The present paper numerically investigates the baffles effects in a vessel stirred by a Rushton turbine. The geometric factor of interest is the baffle inclination which is varying between 25°, 32.5°, 45°, 70° and 90° at different impeller rotational speeds. The impeller rotational direction has also been varied. The vortex size and power consumption were evaluated for each geometrical configuration. It was found that the best configuration is the baffle inclination by = 70° at a negative angular velocity.

Modeling and simulation of infectious diseases help to predict the likely outcome of an epidemic. In this paper, a spatial susceptible-infective-susceptible （SIS） type of epidemiological disease model with self- and cross-diffusion are investigated. We study the effect of diffusion on the stability of the endemic equilibrium with disease-induced mortality and nonlinear incidence rate, In the absence of diffusion the stationary solution stays stable but becomes unstable with respect to diffusion and that Turing instability takes place. We show that a standard （self-diffusion） system may be either stable or unstable, cross-diffusion response can stabilize an unstable standard system or decrease a ＂ihlring space （the space which the emergence of spatial patterns is holding） compared to the ~lhlring space with self-diffusion, i.e. the cross-diffusion response is an important factor that should not be ignored when pattern emerges. Numerical simulations are provided to illustrate and extend the theoretical results.

Re-engineering the channel heat exchangers(CHEs)is the goal of many recent studies,due to their great importance in the scope of energy transport in various industrial and environmental *** the internal geometry of the CHEs by using extended surfaces,i.e.,VGs(vortex generators),is the most common technique to enhance the efficiency of heat *** work aims to develop a newdesign of solar collectors to improve the overall energy *** study presents a new channel design by introducing *** FVM(finite volume method)was adopted as a numerical technique to solve the problem,with the use of Oil/MWCNT(oil/multi-walled carbon nano-tubes)nanofluid to raise the thermal conductivity of the flow *** study is achieved for a Re number ranging from12×10^(3) to 27×10^(3),while the concentration(φ)of solid particles in the fluid(Oil)is set to 4%.The computational results showed that the hydrothermal characteristics depend strongly on the flow patterns with the presence of VGs within the *** the Oil/MWCNT rates with the presence of VGs generates negative turbulent velocities with high amounts,which promotes the good agitation of nanofluid particles,resulting in enhanced great transfer rates.

This manuscript presents the comprehensive study of thickness stretching effects on the free vibration,static stability and bending of multilayer functionally graded(FG)carbon nanotubes reinforced composite(CNTRC)*** nanoscale and microstructure influences are considered through a modified nonlocal strain gradient continuum *** on power-law functions,four different patterns of CNTs distribution are considered in this analysis,a uniform distribution UD,FG-V CNTRC,FG-X CNTRC,and FG-O CNTRC.A 3D kinematic shear deformation theory is proposed to include the stretching influence,which is neglected in classical ***'s principle is applied to derive the governing equations of motion and associated boundary *** solutions are developed based on Galerkin method to solve the governing equilibrium equations based on the generalized higher-order shear deformation theory and the nonlocal strain gradient theory and get the static bending,buckling loads,and natural frequencies of *** with previous works is presented.A detailed parametric analysis is carried out to highlight the impact of thickness stretching,length scale parameter(nonlocal),material scale parameter(gradient),CNTs distribution pattern,geometry of the plate,various boundary conditions and the total number of layers on the stresses,deformation,critical buckling loads and vibration *** new results are also reported in the current study,which will serve as a benchmark for future research.

Hybrid systems based on renewable energies for the electrification of remote sites controlled by power management systems(PMSs)aim to reduce fossil fuels and increase the efficiency of renewable energy sources to minimize greenhouse gas *** influential role of the PMS contributes to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of these systems by ensuring a balance between the different sources and loads in all operating ***,the abrupt transitions between the various operational modes selected by the PMS generate power loss and *** handle this issue,a fuzzy logic controller(FLC)-based PMS controlling a photovoltaic(PV)and diesel hybrid system with a battery storage element connected to a DC bus is proposed in this *** proposed PMS is wholly based on FLC to ensure a smooth transition between the different modes of the *** success of using the suggested PMS lies in how well the FLC parameters are chosen before the system is *** this purpose,the particle swarm optimization algorithm is adapted to tune the FLC *** resulting optimal intelligent PMS is tested and compared with a classical one using comprehensive simulations performed in a Simscape ElectricalTM MATLAB®*** obtained results show an overshoot attenuation at the DC-bus voltage of 2%when changing the mode and an improvement in the PV generator efficiency by 99.5%.
