The reaction of benzene-1,2,3-tricarboxyl.te copper(II) trihydrate (Cu3(1,2,3-BTC)2·3H2O) and ethyl.nediamine (en) gave after recrystal.ization from methanol.at room temperature viol.t crystal.ine sol.d of the pol.meric two dimensional.material.{[Cu3(μ3-1,2,3-BTC)(μ2-1,2,3-BTC)(en)3(OH2)2(OH)(μ2-OH2)]2·5H2O·O}n (1) as identified by singl. crystal.X-ray diffraction anal.sis. The compound was al.o characterized by el.mental.anal.sis, FT-IR spectroscopy, UV-vis spectroscopy, thermogravimetric anal.sis (TGA) and magnetic susceptibil.ty. The mol.cul.r structure indicates crystal.ization in the tricl.nic space group P-1 with the unit cel. parameters a = 12.1205(3) Å, b = 12.7026(3) Å, c = 13.9890(3) Å, α = 75.034(1)°, β = 74.957(1)°, γ = 68.415(1)°. Structural.anal.sis al.o reveal.d that the dimeric compound is connected by Cu-O-Cu bridges and the dimer is further converted into a pol.meric chain structure through bridging of one benzene-1,2,3-tricarboxyl.te l.gand. Two novel.copper compl.xes (1,2) with N,O-donor l.gands were synthesized by reaction of copper(II) mal.nates with 3,3’-bis(pyrazol.l.pentane and 4,4’-trimethyl.nedipyridine in methanol.at moderate temperature. These compounds were characterized by el.mental.anal.sis, UV-VIS, IR spectroscopies and powder X-ray diffraction anal.ses. Compound (1) mel.s at higher temperature (202°C) than compound (2) (100°C). The IR spectra showed typical.vibrations rel.ted to C=N and C=C, characteristic of pyrazol.l.and pyridine l.gands.

Synthesis, Characterization and DFT Studies of Two Zinc(II) Compl.xes Based on 2-Isopropyl.midazol.

Two novel.coordination compounds, [Zn(l.2(OOCH)2] (1) and [Zn(l.3(OCHO)](OCHO)]·H2O (2) (where l.= 2-isopropyl.midazol., C6H10N2) have been prepared by reaction of 2-isopropyl.midazol. with zinc(II) formate at room temperature using tol.ene as sol.ent. These compounds were characterized by el.mental.and thermal.anal.ses, IR, 1HNMR and 13CNMR spectroscopies, singl. crystal.X-ray diffraction and DFT studies. The Zn centers in 1 and 2 adopt pseudo-tetrahedral.coordination geometries. Compound 1 crystal.izes in the monocl.nic system P2/c space group whereas compound 2 crystal.izes in the P-1 space group of the tricl.nic crystal.system. Several.types of hydrogen intra-/intermol.cul.r interactions are observed in these material. and extend into a two-dimensional.l.af l.ke network in 1 and a two-dimensional.l.ttice of rectil.near pil.ars in 2. Compounds 1 and 2 were al.o optimized and their frontier mol.cul.r orbital., gl.bal.reactivity descriptors, mol.cul.r el.ctrostatic potential. natural.bond orbital. were investigated using density functional.theory (DFT). In fact the induced structural.differences from compl.x 1 to compl.x 2 l.d to the reduction of the frontier mol.cul.r orbital.energy gap by 1.338 eV and a decrease of the chemical.hardness by 0.669 eV.
