AIM： To investigate whether Src, JAK2 and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase （PI3K） pathways are involved in the proliferation of human colonic tumour cells induced by glycine-extended gastrin （G-gly）, the precursor of the mature amidated gastrin and to elucidate the molecular interaction between these three kinases in response to this peptide. METHODS： Using the human colonic tumour cell line HCT116 as a model, we first measured the activation of PI3K, p60-Src and JAK2 in response to G-gly by in vitro kinase assays. Then we investigated the involvement of these kinases in G-gly-induced cell proliferation by MTT test. RESULTS： G-gly stimulation induced p60-Src, JAK2 and PI3K activation in HCT116. The different pathways were involved in proliferation of human colon cancer cells induced by G-gly. Furthermore, we found that both Src and JAK2 were necessary to PI3K regulation by this peptide. However, we did not find any cross-talk between the two tyrosine kinases. CONCLUSION： Our results suggest that the p60-Src/ PI3K and JAK2/PI3K pathways act independently to mediate G-gly proliferative effect on human colonic tumour cells.

AIM： To analyse αv integrin expression induced by gas- trin in pancreatic cancer ***： αv integrin mRNA expression in human pan- creatic cancer cells was analysed using a ＂cancer genes＂ array and confirmed by real-time reverse transcription- polymerase chain reaction （PCR）. Western blotting and semi-quantitative immunohistochemistry were used to examine protein levels in human pancreatic cancer cell lines and pancreatic tissues, respectively, The role of αv integrin on gastrin-induced cell adhesion was examined using blocking anti-αv integrin monoclonal antibodies. Adherent cells were quantified by staining with crystal ***： Using a ＂cancer genes＂ array we identi- fied c^v integrin as a new gastrin target gene in human pancreatic cancer cells. A quantitative real-time PCR approach was used to confirm αv integrin gene expression. We also demonstrate that Src family kinases and the PI 3-kinase, two signalling pathways specifically activated by the CCK-2 receptor （CCK2R）, are involved in gastrin-mediated αv integrin expression. In contrast, inhibition of the ERK pathway was without any effect on αv integrin expression induced by gastrin. Our results also show that gastrin modulates cell adhesion via αv integrins. Indeed, in vitro adhesion assays performed on fibronectin show that gastrin significantly increases adhesion of pancreatic cancer cells. The use of blocking anti-αv integrin monoclonal antibodies completely reversed the increase in cell-substrate adhesion induced by gastrin. In addition, we showed in vivo that the targeted CCK2R expression in the pancreas of Elas-CCK2 mice, leads to the overexpression of αv integrin. This process may contribute to pancreatic turnout development observed in these transgenic ***： αv integrin is a new gastrin target in pancreatic cancer models and contributes to gastrin effects on cell adhesion.

AIM： TO investigate in vivo, whether CCK2 receptors （CCK2R） regulate proteins known to play a crucial role in cell proliferation and cancer development and analyse in vitro the molecular mechanisms that lead to Src activation; in particular, to identify the domains within the CCK2R sequence that are implicated in this activation. METHODS： The expression and activation of Src and ERK were studied in vivo using immunofluorescence and western-blot techniques. We used pancreatic tissues derived from wild type or Elas-CCK2 mice that expressed the CCK2R in pancreatic acini, displayed an increased pancreatic growth and developed preneoplastic lesions. The pancreatic tumor cell line AR4-2J expressing the endogenous CCK2R or COS-7 cells transiently transfected with wild type or mutant CCK2R were used as in vitro models to study the mechanism of Src activation. Src activation was measured by in vitro kinase assays, ERK activation by western blot using antiphospho-ERK antibodies and the involvement of Src in gastrin-induced cell proliferation by MTT test. RESULTS： We showed in vivo that the targeted CCK2R expression in the pancreas of Elas-CCK2 mice, led to the activation of Src and the ERK pathway. Src was activated upstream of the ERK pathway by the CCK2R in pancreatic tumoral cells and contributed to the proliferative effects mediated by this receptor. In vitro results demonstrated that activation of the Src/ERK pathway by the CCK2R required the NPXXY motif, located within the CCK2R sequence at the end of the 7^th transmembrane domain, and suggested the putative role of Gq in this mechanism. CONCLUSION： Deregulation of the Src/ERK pathway by the CCK2R might represent an early step that contributes to cell proliferation, formation of preneoplastic lesions and pancreatic tumor development.

Rocky habitats are regarded as biodiversity hot-spots. Along with high species diversity, diverse ecological relationships can be observed in these habitats. Large groups of bird species use rocks in various ways： as perching/roosting sites, breeding or foraging habitats, information exchange sites, display arenas or as sources of minerals and water. Because of the inaccessibility of these environments, their role and importance to animals has been underestimated. We evaluated the use of rocky habitats by birds in the Tatra Mountains （49°13′N; 19°57′E, Carpathians, central Europe）. Rocky habitats were used by 29 bird species, eight of which used cliffs directly （i.e. for nesting, foraging or resting）. The number of species recorded as using cliffs was correlated with the surface area of the cliff face. A total of 2o forms of rocky habitat use were recorded, in five behavioural categories： vocalization, foraging, perching, flight and nesting. Prevailing behaviours were flying by a rock face, circling above the face, and vocalization on a tree/shrub growing next to a rock. Rocks provide a nesting habitat for specialized petrophilic species and permit the existence of numerous ecological relations between species and habitats. The results of this study show that rocky habitats support the diversity of ecological relationships.

Previous studies have shown that wind-forced baroclinic Rossby waves can capture a large portion of lowfrequency steric sea surface height(SSH)variations in the North *** this paper,the classical wind-driven Rossby wave model derived in a 1.5-layer ocean is extended to include surface buoyancy forcing,and the new model is then used to assess the contribution from buoyancy-forced Rossby waves to low-frequency North Atlantic steric SSH *** forcing is determined from surface heating as freshwater fluxes are *** is found that buoyancy-forced Rossby waves are important in only a few regions belonging to the subtropicaltomidlatitude and eastern subpolar North *** these regions,the new Rossby wave model accounts for 25%-70% of low-frequency steric SSH ***,as part of the analysis it is also shown that a simple static model driven by local surface heat fluxes captures 60%-75% of low-frequency steric SSH variations in the Labrador Sea,which is a region where Rossby waves are found to have no influence on the steric SSH.

The Panzhihua gabbroic intrusion,part of the plumbing system of the Emeishan large igneous province, intruded late-Proterozoic dolomites and marls about～263 Ma *** dolomites in the contact aureole were converted to brucite marbles and a diverse suite of forsterite,diopside and garnet *** variation in mineralogy is explained in part by differences in the composition of the protolith,particularly the proportion of silica minerals and clay,and in part by transfer of elements from intruding *** trace element compositions of most marbles and skarns are very similar to those of unmetamorphosed dolomites and marls,but some contain high Si,Ti,and Fe contents that are interpreted to have come from a magmatic *** brucite marbles sampled～10 m from the contact of the intrusion and named ＂enriched brucite marble＂ have trace element compositions very different from their dolomitic protolith：their rare earth elements are strongly enriched whereas levels of Nb-Ta,Zr-Hf and Ti are very *** characteristics resemble those of carbonate liquid in equilibrium with silicate liquid or more probably with silicate minerals in the case of Panzhihua,a similarity we take to indicate that the sample underwent partial *** taken up to 300 m from the contact contain brucite indicating that high temperatures persisted well into the country ***,other samples collected only tens of metres from the contact are only slightly recrystallized indicating that conditions in the aureole were highly *** suggest that temperatures within the aureole were controlled by conduction of heat from the main intrusion and by supply of additional heat from abundant small dykes within the *** of fluids derived from deeper levels in the aureole flushed the carbon dioxide from the dolomite,lowering temperature needed to partially melt carbonate to the temperatures attained near the *** but extensive heating destabilized the carbon

The paper presents the results of terrain subsidence monitoring in Poland's Upper Silesian Coal Basin(USCB)mining area using Differential Interferometry Synthetic Aperture Radar(DInSAR)and Persistent Scatterer Interferometry(PSI).The study area accounts for almost three million inhabitants where mining which started in the 19th century,has produced severe damage to buildings and urban infrastructures in past *** analysis aimed to combine eight different datasets,processed in two techniques,coming from various sensors and covering different *** a result,a map of areas that have been exposed to subsidence within 3045 square kilometers was *** map covers a period of twenty years of intensive mining activities,i.e.1992-2012.A total of 81 interferograms were used in the *** interferograms allowed not only to determine subsidence troughs(basins)formed from 1992 to 2012 but also to observe subsidence development over *** work also included five sets of PSI processing,covering different temporal and spatial ranges,which were used to determine zones of residual *** on InSAR datasets,an area of 521 square kilometers under the influence of mining activities were *** the subsiding zones,an area of 312.5 square kilometers of the rapid increase in subsidence was identified on the *** study of combined different InSAR datasets provided large-area and long-term information on the impact of mining activities in the Upper Silesia Coal Basin.

In the paper we discuss and compare two commonly used methods of finding the shortest paths in networks,namely Dijkstra’s and A**** compare their effectiveness in terms of traversing road network in circumstances that require swift decision making in the event of dynamically changing road conditions on the basis of studies conducted for evacuation *** build a proper model of such a network,a method of appropriate edge-weighting is introduced,based on empirical data collected by other ***,we use the basics of the theory of quasimetric spaces to introduce a heuristic to such graphs,which is easy to calculate *** heuristic we obtain is both admissible and consistent,which allows us to use it efficiently in A*search *** developed application can be used in studies into evacuation from hazardous *** this case,optimum calculative efficiency is achievable with a simultaneous reduction of calculation time(when compared to Dijkstra’s algorithm).Our application can be applied during the first stage,i.e.,prior to the occurrence of a disaster,since this is an appropriate time for preparation by planning,drilling,early warning,and designating the rescue services that are to participate in the following stages.
