Tailoring Light–matter Interactions in Overcoupled Resonator for Biomolecule Recognition and Detection

Plasmonic nanoantennas provide unique opportunities for precise control of light–matter coupling in surface-enhanced infrared absorption(SEIRA)spectroscopy,but most of the resonant systems realized so far suffer from the obstacles of low sensitivity,narrow bandwidth,and asymmetric Fano resonance ***,we demonstrated an overcoupled resonator with a high plasmon-molecule coupling coefficient(μ)(OC-Hμresonator)by precisely controlling the radiation loss channel,the resonator-oscillator coupling channel,and the frequency detuning *** observed a strong dependence of the sensing performance on the coupling state,and demonstrated that OC-Hμresonator has excellent sensing properties of ultra-sensitive(7.25%nm^(−1)),ultra-broadband(3–10μm),and immune asymmetric Fano *** characteristics represent a breakthrough in SEIRA technology and lay the foundation for specific recognition of biomolecules,trace detection,and protein secondary structure analysis using a single array(array size is 100×100μm^(2)).In addition,with the assistance of machine learning,mixture classification,concentration prediction and spectral reconstruction were achieved with the highest accuracy of 100%.Finally,we demonstrated the potential of OC-Hμresonator for SARS-CoV-2 *** findings will promote the wider application of SEIRA technology,while providing new ideas for other enhanced spectroscopy technologies,quantum photonics and studying light–matter interactions.

Bacterial indole-3-propionic acid inhibits macrophage IL-1β production through targeting methionine metabolism

The gut microbiota plays key roles in host health by shaping the host immune responses through their metabolites, like indole derivatives from tryptophan. However, the direct role of these indole derivatives in macrophage fate decision and the underlying mechanism remains unknown. Here, we found that bacterial indole-3-propionic acid(IPA) downregulates interleukin-1beta(IL-1β) production in m1 macrophages through inhibition of nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB) signaling. mechanistically, IPA binds specifically with methionine adenosyltransferase 2A(mAT2A) to promote S-adenosylmethionine(SAm) synthesis, which facilitates the DNA methylation of ubiquitin-specific peptidase 16(USP16, a deubiquitinase), and in turn promotes Toll-like receptor 4(TLR4) ubiquitination and NF-κB inhibition. Furthermore,IPA administration attenuates sepsis in mouse models induced by lipopolysaccharides(LPS), showcasing its potential as a microbial-derived adjunct in alleviating inflammation. Collectively, our findings reveal a newly found microbial metabolite-immune system regulatory pathway mediated by IPA.

With the rapid development of flexible wearable electronics,the demand for stretchable energy storage devices has *** this work,a novel gradient-layered architecture was design based on single-pore hollow lignin nanospheres(HLNPs)-intercalated two-dimensional transition metal carbide(Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) mXene)for fabricating highly stretchable and durable *** depositing and inserting HLNPs in the mXene layers with a bottom-up decreasing gradient,a multilayered porous mXene structure with smooth ion channels was constructed by reducing the overstacking of mXene ***,the micro-chamber architecture of thin-walled lignin nanospheres effectively extended the contact area between lignin and mXene to improve ion and electron accessibility,thus better utilizing the pseudocapacitive property of *** these strategies effectively enhanced the capacitive performance of the *** addition,HLNPs,which acted as a protective phase for mXene layer,enhanced mechanical properties of the wrinkled stretchable electrodes by releasing stress through slip and deformation during the stretch-release cycling and greatly improved the structural integrity and capacitive stability of the *** electrodes and symmetric flexible all-solid-state supercapacitors capable of enduring 600%uniaxial tensile strain were developed with high specific capacitances of 1273 mF cm^(−2)(241 F g^(−1))and 514 mF cm^(−2)(95 F g^(−1)),***,their capacitances were well preserved after 1000 times of 600%stretch-release *** study showcased new possibilities of incorporating biobased lignin nanospheres in energy storage devices to fabricate stretchable devices leveraging synergies among various two-dimensional nanomaterials.

Preparation and study of novel mid-to-low-temperature phase-change molten salts

molten salts is a promising medium for heat storage and heat transfer due to their advantages of low cost, low steam pressure, high energy storage density and wide temperature range. In this paper, a new phase change mixture of molten salts with KNO3, NaNO3, ZnCl2, NaF, Na2CO3, NaCl, and mgO as materials has been prepared through a plenty of experiments. The experimental results show that the melting point of some molten salts can be reduced to 202.9°C, and the decomposition temperature can reach 701.3°C. In addition, its thermophysical properties, including specific heat, viscosity and thermal stability, were measured and analyzed. The average specific heat of some molten salts is as high as 2.53 J/（g K）, and the average thermal conductivity is as high as 0.77 W/（m K）. In the 4-day short-term thermal stability test, the fluctuation of each parameter is minimal, and the overall thermal physical property is relatively stable. Compared with the traditional phase change molten salt, the new hybrid molten salt has a significantly lower melting point, a further improvement in the decomposition temperature, specific heat and other comprehensive thermophysical properties, and a better overall economy, which has important application value in heat transfer and energy storage.

T cell interactions with microglia in immune-inflammatory processes of ischemic stroke

mapping aboveground biomass and its prediction uncertainty using LiDAR and field data, accounting for tree-level allometric and LiDAR model errors

Background: The increasing availability of remotely sensed data has recently challenged the traditional way of performing forest inventories, and induced an interest in model-based inference. Like traditional design-based inference, model-based inference allows for regional estimates of totals and means, but in addition for wall-to-wall mapping of forest characteristics. Recently Light Detection and Ranging(LiDAR)-based maps of forest attributes have been developed in many countries and been well received by users due to their accurate spatial representation of forest resources. However, the correspondence between such mapping and model-based inference is seldom appreciated. In this study we applied hierarchical model-based inference to produce aboveground biomass maps as well as maps of the corresponding prediction uncertainties with the same spatial resolution. Further, an estimator of mean biomass at regional level, and its uncertainty, was developed to demonstrate how mapping and regional level assessment can be combined within the framework of model-based ***: Through a new version of hierarchical model-based estimation, allowing models to be nonlinear, we accounted for uncertainties in both the individual tree-level biomass models and the models linking plot level biomass predictions with LiDAR metrics. In a 5005 km2 large study area in south-central Sweden the predicted aboveground biomass at the level of 18 m×18 m map units was found to range between 9 and 447 mg·ha^-1. The corresponding root mean square errors ranged between 10 and 162 mg·ha^-1. For the entire study region, the mean aboveground biomass was 55 mg·ha^-1 and the corresponding relative root mean square error 8%. Coseismic surface ruptures of mW7.8 and mW7.5 earthquakes occurred on February 6, 2023, and seismic hazard assessment of the East Anatolian Fault Zone, Southeastern Türkiye

On February 6, 2023, southeastern Türkiye experienced a devastating earthquake doublet along the East Anatolian Fault（EAF）, with moment magnitude（mW） values of 7.8 and 7.5. These strong earthquakes resulted in at least 50,000 deaths and severe economic losses. Systematic research on coseismic surface ruptures induced by these events is vital for assessing the cascade rupture behaviors of plate boundary faults and future seismic hazards in the region. Interpretation of high-resolution post-earthquake satellite images and field investigations yielded the following results:（1） the two strong earthquakes had separate rupture zones. The first earthquake generated an approximately 280 km coseismic surface rupture along the southwestern segment of the main EAF, with 241 left-lateral displacements reaching up to 6.8±0.68 m, particularly 40 km northeast of the epicenter. The second earthquake produced a roughly 110 km surface rupture on an east-west branch of the EAF, with maximum displacements of 7.2±0.72 m.（2） The mW7.8 earthquake resulted in a cascading rupture across multiple segments of the southwestern section of the main EAF, with significantly variable displacements. The northeastern and southwestern parts of the main EAF and malatya Fault remain at risk of strong earthquakes in the future.（3） The EAF rupture zone is densely populated, and due to the site amplification effect of loose sediments on foreland alluvial fans, foundation failures of buildings in the populated areas are common. Therefore, it is crucial to enhance the future seismic fortification capabilities in urban and rural areas along the EAF.
