Shoulder disarticulation amputees account for a small portion of upper-limb amputees,thus little emphasis has been devoted to developing functional prosthesis for this cohort of *** this study,shoulder girdle recognition was investigated with acquired data from electrophysiological(electromyography[EMG])and low frequency contraction(accelerometer[Acc])signals from both amputee and non-amputee *** contribution of this study is based around the contrast of the classification accuracy(CA)for different sensor configurations using a unique set of signal *** was seen that the fusion of the EMG-Acc produced an enhancement in the CA in the range of 10%-20%,depending on which windowing parameters were *** this,it was seen that the best combination of a windowing scheme and classifier would likely be for the 350 ms and spectral regression discriminant analysis,with a fusion of the EMG-Acc *** results have thus provided evidence that the two sensors can be combined and used in practice for prosthesis *** a holistic view on the study,the authors conclude by providing a framework on how the shoulder motion recognition could be combined with neuromuscular reprogramming to contribute towards easing the cognitive burden of amputees during the prosthesis control process.

A process for purifying aqueous solutions containing heavy and toxic metals such as chromium（Cr） has been investigated. One of the extremely harmful pollutants in rivers and seawater is the heavy metal ions due to their direct impacts on human, animals and plants are hexavalent Cr（Ⅵ）. Consequently, highly sensitive sensor to detect Cr is essential. Surface plasmon resonance（SPR） technique has attracted huge research interest in detecting heavy metals specifically. In this study, three types of prism-based SPR sensor, gold（Au）/silver（Ag）, Au/polyaniline（PANI） and Au/titanium dioxide（TiO2） nanostructured films, are investigated as potential sensing material to detect the presence of Cr（Ⅵ） ions in water. The base Au layer with thickness of 48.3 nm is deposited on a glass slide for all sensors. For Au/Ag, Au/PANI nanofibers and Au/TiO2sensor films, the Cr（Ⅵ） concentration is varied from 1 ppm to 15 ppm with sensitivity of 0.270 °ppm-1, 0.082 °ppm-1and 0.039 °ppm-1, respectively. Based on these results, the Au/PANI nanofibers are the most sensitive to Cr（Ⅵ） among the tested sensing materials.

This paper attempts to resolve the reported contradiction in the literature about the characteristics of high-performance/cost-effective fenestration of residential buildings,particularly in hot *** considered issues are the window glazing property(ten commercial glazing types),facade orientation(four main orientations),window-to-wall ratio(WWR)(0.2–0.8),and solar shading overhangs and side-fins(nine shading conditions).The results of the simulated runs reveal that the glazing quality has a superior effect over the other fenestration parameters and controls their effect on the energy consumption of residential ***,using low-performance windows on buildings yields larger effects of WWR,facade orientation,and solar shading than high-performance *** the WWR increases from 0.2 to 0.8,the building energy consumption using the low-performance window increases 6.46 times than that using the highperformance *** best facade orientation is changed from north to south according to the glazing *** addition,the solar shading need is correlated as a function of a window-glazing property and *** cost analysis shows that the high-performance windows without solar shading are cost-effective as they have the largest net present cost compared to lowperformance windows with or without solar ***,replacing low-performance windows with high-performance ones,in an existing residential building,saves about 12.7 MWh of electricity and 11.05 tons of CO_(2) annually.

As environmental concerns from fossil fuel consumption intensify, large-scale energy storage becomes imperative for the integration of renewable sources like wind, hydro, and solar with the electrical *** flow batteries, particularly those employing organic molecules, are positioned as a key technology for this purpose. This review explores the growing field of symmetric organic redox flow batteries(ORFBs) within this context. Unlike traditional asymmetric designs based on unique active materials for each electrode, symmetric ORFBs involve a single bipolar species for both electrodes. This review highlights the benefits of a symmetric design, and categorizes five distinct classes of organic bipolar molecules used in both aqueous and non-aqueous solvents. By providing a comprehensive overview of their cell cycling and performance characteristics, the strengths and weaknesses of the diverse categories of bipolar molecules are highlighted for both solvent systems, as are opportunities for future development. This should guide new research directions and advance the development of practical symmetric ORFBs.

Machine-learning algorithms have been widely used in breast cancer diagnosis to help pathologists and physicians in the decision-making ***,the high dimensionality of genetic data makes the classification process a challenging *** this paper,we propose a new optimized wrapper gene selection method that is based on a nature-inspired algorithm(simulated annealing(SA)),which will help select the most informative genes for breast cancer *** optimal genes will then be used to train the classifier to improve its accuracy and *** supervised machine-learning algorithms,namely,the support vector machine,the decision tree,and the random forest were used to create the classifier models that will help to predict breast *** different experiments were conducted using three datasets:Gene expression(GE),deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA)methylation,and a combination of the *** measures were used to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm,which include the following:Accuracy,precision,recall,specificity,area under the curve(AUC),and execution *** effectiveness of the proposed classifiers was evaluated through comprehensive *** results demonstrated that our approach outperformed the conventional classifiers as expected in terms of accuracy and execution *** accuracy values of 99.77%,99.45%,and 99.45%have been achieved by SA-SVM for GE,DNA methylation,and the combined datasets,*** execution time of the proposed approach was significantly reduced,in comparison to that of the traditional classifiers and the best execution time has been reached by SA-SVM,which was 0.02,0.03,and 0.02 on GE,DNA methylation,and the combined datasets *** regard to precision and specificity,SA-RF obtained the best result of 100 on GE *** SA-SVM attained the best recall result of 100 on GE dataset.

Low salinity water is an emerging enhanced oil recovery(EOR)method that causes wettability alteration towards a favorable state to reduce residual oil saturation,while water alternating gas(WAG)is a proven EOR process that enhances oil recovery by controlling mobility of both water and ***,combining the two EOR processes as low salinity water-alternating CO2 EOR injection(LSWA CO2)can further improve oil recovery by promoting the synergy of the mechanisms underlying these two *** flooding experiments,contact angle,interfacial tension(IFT),and CO2 solubility measurement in oil and brine were conducted to investigate the viability and performance of LSWA CO2 in sandstone reservoirs.A favorable wettability alteration,along with IFT reduction and mobility control,are the mechanisms that contribute to residual oil mobilization efficiencies during the LSWA CO2 EOR *** addition,LSWA CO2 core flooding experiments result in a significant incremental oil *** smart waters were tested in our research,to examine the impact of changing cationic composition on oil *** solutions are designed brines as NaCl(SW1),MgCl2(SW2),and KCl(SW3).Of the three solutions,SW1 yields the highest incremental oil recovery and highest IFT *** addition,it results in a favorable wettability alteration towards a more water-wet *** all cases,introducing CO2 to the brine/oil system shows a great advantage in terms of enhancing wettability modification,promoting IFT reduction,and controlling the displacement front of the injected fluid through mobility control.

One aspect of cybersecurity,incorporates the study of Portable Executables(PE)files *** Intelligence(AI)can be employed in such studies,since AI has the ability to discriminate benign from malicious *** this study,an exclusive set of 29 features was collected from trusted implementations,this set was used as a baseline to analyze the presented work in this research.A Decision Tree(DT)and Neural Network Multi-Layer Perceptron(NN-MLPC)algorithms were utilized during this *** algorithms were chosen after testing a few diverse *** work implements a method of subgrouping features to answer questions such as,which feature has a positive impact on accuracy when added?Is it possible to determine a reliable feature set to distinguish a malicious PE file from a benign one?when combining features,would it have any effect on malware detection accuracy in a PE file?Results obtained using the proposed method were improved and carried few ***,the obtained results had practical and numerical parts,for the practical part,the number of features and which features included are the main factors impacting the calculated accuracy,also,the combination of features is as crucial in these *** results included,finding accuracies with enhanced values,for example,NN_MLPC attained 0.979 and 0.98;for DT an accuracy of 0.9825 and 0.986 was attained.
