Mechanical strength of wheat grain varieties influenced by moisture content and loading rate

Mechanical shear resistance of wheat grain is a significant concern for the designers and researchers related to the design of threshing,handling and processing machinery of the field *** grain mechanical properties directly affect the machine geometry and its operational *** present study was carried out to determine the shear resistance of five wheat varieties(Locally names;TD-02,Sindhu-1105,Benazir,China and SKD-118)influenced by moisture content(16.7%,18.7%and 19.5%)and loading rate(3 mm/s,6 mm/s and 9 mm/s).However,some physio-dimensional properties(length,width,thickness,slenderness ratio,surface area and sphericity)were obtained at different moisture *** results showed that the shear resistance reduced by increasing the moisture content and loading *** average shear resistance decreased from 10.45 N to 3.74 N for 3-9 mm/s loading rate at moisture content of 16.7%to 19.5%.Thus,the maximum correlation(r=0.905)of shear resistance obtained at 16.7%,whereas minimum correlation(r=0.692)obtained at 19.5%.The shear resistance of wheat grain was highly significant(p<0.05)at 9 mm/s for 19.5%.Shear resistance decreased with an increase in the moisture content in the grain whereas deformation is increasing with the increase of moisture ***,the maximum bulk density of wheat grain obtained at 19.5%for SKD-118,while the minimum obtained at 16.7%for *** is recommended that the design and modification of wheat grain processing equipment should be executed on the physio-mechanical properties of grain varieties.

The understanding of temperature trends in high elevation mountain areas is an integral part of climate change research and it is critical for assessing the impacts of climate change on water resources including glacier melt, degradation of soils, and active layer thickness. In this study, climate changes were analyzed based on trends in air temperature variables(Tmax, Tmin, Tmean), and Diurnal Temperature Range(DTR) as well as elevation-dependent warming at annual and seasonal scales in the Headwaters of Yangtze River(HWYZ), Qinghai Tibetan Plateau. The Base Period(1965-2014) was split into two subperiods;Period-Ⅰ(1965-1989) and Period-Ⅱ(1990-2014) and the analysis was constrained over two subbasins;Zhimenda and Tuotuohe. Increasing trends were found in absolute changes in temperature variables during Period-Ⅱ as compared to Period-Ⅰ.Tmax, Tmin, and Tmean had significant increasing trends for both sub-basins. The highest significant trends in annual time scale were observed in Tmin(1.15℃ decade-1) in Tuotuohe and 0.98℃ decade-1 in Zhimenda sub-basins. In Period-Ⅱ, only the winter season had the highest magnitudes of Tmax and Tmin0.58℃ decade-1 and 1.26℃ decade-1 in Tuotuohe subbasin, respectively. Elevation dependent warming analysis revealed that Tmax, Tmin and Tmean trend magnitudes increase with the increase of elevations in the middle reaches(4000 m to 4400 m) of the HWYZ during Period-Ⅱ annually. The increasing trend magnitude during Period-Ⅱ, for Tmax, is 1.77, 0.92, and 1.31℃ decade-1, for Tmin 1.20, 1.32 and 1.59℃ decade-1,for Tmean 1.51, 1.10 and 1.51℃ decade-1 at elevations of4066 m, 4175 m and 4415 m respectively in the winter season. Tmean increases during the spring season for> 3681 m elevations during Period-Ⅱ, with no particular relation with elevation dependency for other variables. To develop highly efficient electrochemical catalysts for N2 fixation is important to sustainable ambient NH_(3) production through the N_(2) reduction reaction(NRR).Herein,we demonstrate the development of vanadium phosphide nanoparticle on V foil as a high-efficiency and stable catalyst for ambient NH3 production with excellent *** high Faradaic efficiency of 22%with a large NH3 yield of 8.35×10^(−11) mol·s^(−1)·cm^(−2)was obtained at 0 V *** reversible hydrogen electrode in acid solution,superior to all previously studied V-based NRR *** functional theory calculations are also utilized to have an insight into the catalytic mechanism.

Colloidal core/shell quantum dots(QDs)with environment-friendly feature and controllable optoelectronic properties are promising building blocks in emerging solar *** this work,we rationally design and tailor the eco-friendly CuInSe(CISe)/ZnSe core/shell QDs by Mn doping and stoichiometric optimization(i.e.,molar ratios of Cu/In).It is demonstrated that Mn doping in In-rich CISe/ZnSe core/shell QDs can effectively engineer the charge kinetics inside the QDs,enabling efficient photogenerated electrons transfer into the shell for retarded charge *** a result,a solar-driven photoelectrochemical(PEC)device fabricated using the optimized Mn-doped In-rich CISe/ZnSe core/shell QDs(Cu/In ratio of 1/2)exhibits improved charge extraction and injection,showing a~3.5-fold higher photocurrent density than that of the pristine CISe/ZnSe core/shell QDs under 1 sun AM 1.5G *** findings indicate that transition metal doping in“green”nonstoichiometric core/shell QDs may offer a new strategy for achieving high-efficiency solar energy conversion applications.

Adaptive Multi-Cost Routing Protocol to Enhance Lifetime for Wireless Body Area Network

Wireless Body Area Network(WBAN)technologies are emerging with extensive applications in several *** is a fascinating domain of WBAN for smart monitoring of a patient’s *** important factor to consider in WBAN is a node’s *** the lifetime of nodes is critical to address many issues,such as utility and *** routing protocols have addressed the energy conservation problem but considered only a few parameters,thus affecting their ***,most of the existing schemes did not consider traffic prioritization which is critical in *** this paper,an adaptive multi-cost routing protocol is proposed with a multi-objective cost function considering minimum distance from sink,temperature of sensor nodes,priority of sensed data,and maximum residual energy on sensor *** performance of the proposed protocol is compared with the existing schemes for the parameters:network lifetime,stability period,throughput,energy consumption,and path *** is evident from the obtained results that the proposed protocol improves network lifetime and stability period by 30%and 15%,respectively,as well as outperforms the existing protocols in terms of throughput,energy consumption,and path loss.

In this paper,a compact,efficient and easy to fabricate wearable antenna integrated with Artificial Magnetic Conductor(AMC)is *** of slots and bevels/cuts in the rectangular monopole patch antenna yield a wide bandwidth along with band *** proposed antenna is backed with an AMC metasurface that changes the bidirectional radiation pattern to a unidirectional,thus,considerably reducing the Specific Absorption Ratio(SAR).The demonstrated antenna has a good coverage radiating away from the body and presents reduced radiation towards the body with a front-to-back ratio of 13 dB and maximum gain of 3.54 *** proposed design operates over a wide frequency band of 2.9 to 12 GHz(exceeding the designated 3.1−10.6 GHz Ultra-Wideband(UWB)band).The band notches were created using slots on the radiating patch in the sub-bands from 5.50 to 5.67 GHz and 7.16 to 7.74 *** overall dimensions of the structure are 33×33×6.75 *** antenna’s radiation performance increased considerably with the addition of the AMC *** SAR values for the antenna are reduced by 85.3%when the AMC is used and are 0.083 W/kg which is well below the FCC SAR *** simple design,miniaturized profile,low SAR and wide operating bands with multiple band notches make the presented antenna an appealing choice for several UWB wearable body area network(WBAN)applications.

Anomaly Based Camera Prioritization in Large Scale Surveillance Networks

Digital surveillance systems are ubiquitous and continuously generate massive amounts of data,and manual monitoring is required in order to recognise human activities in public *** surveillance systems that can automatically identify normal and abnormal activities are highly desirable,as these would allow for efficient monitoring by selecting only those camera feeds in which abnormal activities are *** paper proposes an energy-efficient camera prioritisation framework that intelligently adjusts the priority of cameras in a vast surveillance network using feedback from the activity recognition *** proposed system addresses the limitations of existing manual monitoring surveillance systems using a three-step *** the first step,the salient frames are selected from the online video stream using a frame differencing method.A lightweight 3D convolutional neural network(3DCNN)architecture is applied to extract spatio-temporal features from the salient frames in the second ***,the probabilities predicted by the 3DCNN network and the metadata of the cameras are processed using a linear threshold gate sigmoid mechanism to control the priority of the *** proposed system performs well compared to state-of-theart violent activity recognition methods in terms of efficient camera prioritisation in large-scale surveillance *** experiments and an evaluation of activity recognition and camera prioritisation showed that our approach achieved an accuracy of 98%with an F1-score of 0.97 on the Hockey Fight dataset,and an accuracy of 99%with an F1-score of 0.98 on the Violent Crowd dataset.

With every passing day,the demand for data traffic is increasing,and this urges the research community not only to look for an alternating spectrum for communication but also urges radio frequency planners to use the existing spectrum *** sizes are shrinking with every upcoming communication generation,which makes base station placement planning even more complex and *** order to make the next-generation cost-effective,it is important to design a network in such a way that it utilizes the minimum number of base stations while ensuring seamless coverage and quality of *** paper aims at the development of a new simulation-based optimization approach using a hybrid metaheuristic and metamodel applied in a novel mathematical formulation of the multi-transmitter placement planning(MTPP)*** first develop a new mathematical programming model for MTPP that is flexible to design the locations for any number of *** solve this constrained optimization problem,we propose a hybrid approach using the radial basis function(RBF)metamodel to assist the particle swarm optimizer(PSO)by mitigating the associated computational burden of the optimization *** evaluate the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed algorithm by simulating the MTPP model with two,three,four and five transmitters and estimating the Pareto front for optimal locations of *** quantitative results show that almost maximum signal coverage can be obtained with four transmitters;thus,it is not a wise idea to use higher number of transmitters in the ***,the limitations and future works are discussed.
