Prevention of spreading viral respiratory disease,especially in case of a pandemic such as coronavirus disease of 2019(COVID-19),has been proved impossible without considering obligatory face mask-wearing protocols for both healthy and contaminated *** widespread application of face masks for long hours and almost everywhere increases the risks of bacterial growth in the warm and humid environment inside the *** the other hand,in the absence of antiviral agents on the surface of the mask,the virus may have a chance to stay alive and be carried to different places or even put the wearers at risk of contamination when touching or disposing the *** this article,the antiviral activity and mechanism of action of some of the potent metal and metal oxide nanoparticles in the role of promising virucidal agents have been reviewed,and incorporation of them in an electrospun nanofibrous structure has been considered an applicable method for the fabrication of innovative respiratory protecting materials with upgraded safety levels.

In this paper,we investigate the existence of solutions and analyze the large-time behavior for Gurtin-Maccamy population model involving conformable fractional *** a preliminary step,we construct a generic structure of the solution associated with our proposed model by utilizing some basic properties and tools of conformable fractional *** establish the existence of a unique solution of the given model with the given initial *** last,by using the upper and lower solutions for the characteristic equation,we define the upper and lower boundaries for the obtained solution and describe the large-time behavior of the total population.

Improving methane storage on wet activated carbons at various amounts of water

Different mesoporous activated carbons were prepared by both chemical and physical activation processes and were examined for methane uptake in the presence of *** isotherms were obtained at wet condition by wetting samples with water at mass ratio of water/carbon(R) close to *** compare,the amount of methane storage were also measured at dry *** maximum amount of methane stored was attained as 237 V/V at R=1.0 by hydrate formation at the methane critical *** the next step,mass ratios of water/carbon were changed to investigate various amount of water for methane storage *** other values of mass ratio of water/carbon(R=0.8 and 1.4) were selected and methane isotherms were obtained at the same *** values of 210 and 248 V/V were reached for methane storage,*** was also observed that,in the pressure range lower than hydrate pressure,by increasing water ratio the hydrate formation pressure was decreased and methane uptake was much less than that of dry condition due to pore filling by water.

Combinational therapy with Myc decoy oligodeoxynucleotides encapsulated in nanocarrier and X-irradiation on breast cancer cells

The Myc gene is the essential oncogene in triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC).This study investigates the synergistic effects of combining Myc decoy oligodeoxynucleotides-encapsulated niosomes-selenium hybrid nanocarriers with X-irradiation exposure on the MDA-MB-468 cell *** and scramble ODNs for Myc transcription factor were designed and synthesized based on promoter sequences of the Bcl2 *** nanocarriers were synthesized by loading Myc ODNs and selenium into chitosan(Chi-Se-DEC),which was then encapsulated in niosome-nanocarriers(NISM@Chi-Se-DEC).FT-IR,DLS,FESEM,and hemolysis tests were applied to confirm its characterization and physicochemical ***,cellular uptake,cellular toxicity,apoptosis,cell cycle,and scratch repair assays were performed to evaluate its anticancer effects on cancer *** anticancer assessments were repeated under X-ray irradiation conditions(fractionated 2Gy).Physicochemical characteristics of niosomes containing SeNPs and ODNs showed that it is synthesized *** revealed that the anticancer effect of NISM@Chi-Se-DEC can be significantly improved in combination with X-ray irradiation *** can be concluded that NISM@Chi-Se-DEC nanocarriers have the potential as a therapeutic agent for cancer treatment,particularly in combination with radiation therapy and in-vivo experiments are necessary to confirm the efficacy of this nano-drug.

Lack of temperature sensation of myoelectric prosthetic hand limits the daily activities of *** this end,a noninvasive temperature sensation method is proposed to train amputees to sense temperature with psychophysical sensory *** this study,22 healthy participants took part besides 5 amputee *** duration time of the study was 31 days with five test steps according to the Leitner *** adjustable temperature mug and a Peltier were used to change the temperature of the water/phantom digits to induce temperature to ***,to isolate the surroundings and show colors,a Virtual Reality(VR)glass was *** statistical results conducted are based on the response of participants with questionnaire *** Chi-square tests,it is concluded that participants answer the experiment significantly correctly using the Leitner technique(P value<0.05).Also,by applying the“Repeated Measures ANOVA”,it is noticed that the time of numbness felt by participants had significant(P value<0.001)*** could remember lowest and highest temperatures significantly better than other temperatures(P value<0.001);furthermore,the well-trained amputee participant practically using the prosthesis with 72.58%could identify object’s temperature with only once time experimenting the color temperature.

Slope stability of an unsaturated embankment with and without natural pore water salinity subjected to rainfall infiltration

In the present study,we investigated the synergistic effects of targeted methotrexate-selenium nanostructure containing Myc decoy oligodeoxynucleotides along with X-irradiation exposure as a combination therapy on LNCaP prostate cancer *** decoy ODNs were designed based on the promoter of Bcl-2 gene and analyzed by molecular docking and molecular dynamics *** were loaded on the synthesized Se@BSA@Chi-MTX *** physicochemical characteristics of nanostructures were determined by FTIR,DLS,UV-vis,TEM,EDX,in vitro release,and hemolysis ***,the cytotoxicity properties of them with and without X-irradiation were investigated by uptake,MTT,cell cycle,apoptosis,and scratch assays on the LNCaP cell *** results of DLS and TEM showed negative charge(−9 mV)and nanometer size(40 nm)for Se@BSA@Chi-DEC-MTX NPs,*** results of FTIR,UV-vis,and EDX showed the proper interaction of different parts and the correct synthesis of *** results of hemolysis showed the hemocompatibility of this nanoparticle in concentrations less than 6 mg/*** ODNs release from the nanostructures showed a pH-dependent manner,and the release rate was 15%higher in acidic *** targeted Se@BSA@Chi-labeled ODN-MTX NPs were efficiently taken up by LNCaP cells by targeting the prostate-specific membrane antigen(PSMA).The significant synergistic effects of nanostructure(containing MTX drug)treatment along with X-irradiation showed cell growth inhibition,apoptosis induction(~57%),cell cycle arrest(G2/M phase),and migration inhibition(up to 90%)compared to the *** results suggested that the Se@BSA@Chi-DEC-MTX NPs can potentially suppress the cell growth of LNCaP *** nanostructure system can be a promising approach for targeted drug delivery and chemoradiotherapy in prostate cancer treatment.

Soil substrate as a cascade of capillary barriers for conserving water in a desert environment:lessons learned from arid nature

Interaction between soil pedogenesis, subsurface water dynamics, climate, vegetation and human ingenuity in a desert environment has been found to result in a unique ecohydrological system with an essentially three dimensional sedimentation structure in the bed of a recharge dam in Oman. A 3-D array of silt blocks sand- wiched by dry sand-filled horizontal and vertical fractures was studied in pot experiments as a model of a natural prototype. Pots are filled with a homogenous sand-silt mixture （control） or artificially structured （smart design, SD） soil substrates. Rhodes grass and ivy （Ipomea, Convolvulaceae） were grown in the pots during the hottest season in Oman. Soil moisture content （SMC） was measured at different depths over a period of 20 days without irrigation. SD preserved the SMC of the root zone for both ivy and grass （SMC of around 25%-30% compared to 〈10% for control, 3 days after the last irrigation）. Even after 20 days, SMC was around 18% in the SD and 7% in the control. This, similar to the case of a natural prototype, is attributed to the higher upward capillary movement of water in control pots and intensive evaporation. The capillary barrier of sand sheaths causes discontinuity in moisture mi- gration from the micro-pores in the silt blocks to sand pores. The blocks serve as capillarity-locked water buffers, which are depleted at a slow rate by transpiration rather than evaporation from the soil surface. This creates a unique ecosystem with a dramatic difference in vegetation between SD-pots and control pots. Consequently, the Noy-Meir edaphic factor, conceptualizing the ecological impact of 1-D vertical heterogeneity of desert soils, should be generalized to incorporate 3-D soil heterogeneity patterns. This agro-engineering control of the soil substrate and soil moisture distribution and dynamics （SMDaD） can be widely used by desert farmers as a cheap technique, with significant savings of irrigation water.

Cytometric profiling in various clinical forms of multiple sclerosis with respect to CD21^(+), CD32^(+), and CD35^(+) B and T cells

Background:We aimed to evaluate the frequency of various types of B and T cells expressing CD21,CD32,and CD35 in multiple sclerosis(MS)clinical ***:Peripheral blood mononuclear cell from 30 MS patients(17 relapsing remitting[RRMS],six secondary progressive[SPMS],and seven primary progressive MS[PPMS])and 18 healthy subjects were *** patients were in acute *** controls were matched for age and gender *** frequencies of various subsets of B and T cells were determined using flow ***:The frequency of CD4^(+)T cells was lower in MS patients compared to control subjects(41.14±9.45%vs.46.88±6.98%,respectively,P<0.05).The CD32^(+)fraction of CD4^(+)T cells and the CD21^(+)fraction of CD8^(+)T cells were higher in MS patients(2.85±3.72%vs.1.06±0.62%for CD32^(+)CD4^(+)T cells,2.71±1.86%vs.1.16±0.99%for CD21^(+)CD8^(+)T cells in MS patients and control subjects,respectively,P<0.05).After dividing subjects by type of MS course,higher values of these two T cell subsets were found in SPMS patients compared to control subjects(P<0.05).Further,RRMS patients had lower levels of CD32^(+)CD4^(+)T cells than SPMS patients and also they had lower levels of CD32^(+)CD8^(+)T cells than PPMS patients(P<0.05).However,neither the expression of CD35 on T cells nor the various B cell subsets were statistically different between the compared ***:Our findings demonstrate that T cell subsets expressing CD21 and CD32 may differ with respect to the presence or clinical forms of MS *** contrast,CD35^(+)T cells and different subsets of B cells are not altered in various MS clinical courses.
