Natural product is one of the sources of drugs in pharmaceutical industry,and one of the notable origin of natural product is the medicinal *** plants tend to cure some certain diseases and could be a source for potential *** Department of health of the Philippines approved 10 medicinal plants namely Allium sativum(Garlic/Bawang),Blumea balsamifera(Nagal camphor/sambong),Cassia alata(Ringworm bush/akapulko),Clinopodium douglasii(Mint/yerba Buena),Ehretia microphylla(Scorpion bush/Tsaang Gubat),Momordica charantia(Bitter Melon/Ampalaya),Peperomia pellucida(Silver bush/ulasimang Bato),Psidium guajava(Guava/Bayabas),Quisqualis indica(Rangoon creeper/niyug-niyogan),and Vitex negundo(Five-leaved Chaste Tree/lagundi).The review was conducted to show that these medicinal plants are capable in treating infections and some *** was found that Allium sativum for the treatmet of wounds,hypertension and tootache;Blumea balsimifera is effective in diuretic treatment for hypertension;Cassia alata for the treatment of scabies,fungal infection,athlete’s foot,tinea flava,ringworm;Clinopodium douglasii for the treatment of muscle pain,arthritis,rheumatism,cough,headache;Ehretia microphylla for the treatment of diarrhea and stomachache;Momordica charantia for the treatment of diabetes mellitus;Peperomia pellucida for the treatment of gout and rheumatism;Psidium guajava for the treatment of wounds and diarrhea;Quisqualis indica for anti-helmintic medicine;and Vitex negundo for the treatment of cough,asthma,and *** conclusion,these 10 medicinal plants have natural products that can be used as source for potential ***,there are still many species of ethnobotanical plants that are not yet investigated thoroughly and might be a source for potential ***,more investigations should be done in other species of plant,most especially for the plants with practical used.

Ultrasound-Mediated Drug Delivery:Sonoporation Mechanisms,Biophysics,and Critical Factors

Sonoporation,or the use of ultrasound in the presence of cavitation nuclei to induce plasma membrane perforation,is well considered as an emerging physical approach to facilitate the delivery of drugs and genes to living ***,this emerging drug delivery paradigm has not yet reached widespread clinical use,because the efficiency of sonoporation is often deemed to be mediocre due to the lack of detailed understanding of the pertinent scientific ***,we summarize the current observational evidence available on the notion of sonoporation,and we discuss the prevailing understanding of the physical and biological processes related to *** facilitate systematic understanding,we also present how the extent of sonoporation is dependent on a multitude of factors related to acoustic excitation parameters(ultrasound frequency,pressure,cavitation dose,exposure time),microbubble parameters(size,concentration,bubble-to-cell distance,shell composition),and cellular properties(cell type,cell cycle,biochemical contents).By adopting a science-backed approach to the realization of sonoporation,ultrasound-mediated drug delivery can be more controllably achieved to viably enhance drug uptake into living cells with high sonoporation *** drug delivery approach,when coupled with concurrent advances in ultrasound imaging,has potential to become an effective therapeutic paradigm.

Brain diseases affect millions of people and have a huge social and economic *** use of neural probes for studies in animals has been the main approach to increasing knowledge about neural network ***,neuroscientists are trying to develop new and more effective therapeutic approaches to treating neurological *** implementation of neural probes with multifunctionalities(electrical,optical,and fluidic interactions)has been increasing in the last few years,leading to the creation of devices with high temporal and spatial *** the applicability of,and elements integrated into,neural probes has also led to the necessity to create flexible interfaces,reducing neural tissue damage during probe implantation and increasing the quality of neural acquisition *** this paper,we review the fabrication,characterization,and validation of several types of flexible neural probes,exploring the main advantages and drawbacks of these ***,future developments and applications are ***,this review aims to present the currently available flexible devices and future appropriate avenues for development as possible guidance for future engineered devices.

Sintering study of Ti6Al4V powders with different particle sizes and their mechanical properties

Ti6Al4V powders with three different particle size distributions(0–20, 20–45, and 45–75 μm) were used to evaluate the effect of the particle size distribution on the solid-state sintering and their mechanical properties. The sintering kinetics was determined by dilatometry at temperatures from 900 to 1260°C. The mechanical properties of the sintered samples were evaluated by microhardness and compression tests. The sintering kinetics indicated that the predominant mechanism depends on the relative density irrespective of the particle size used. The mechanical properties of the sintered samples are adversely affected by increasing pore volume fraction. The elastic Young's modulus and yield stress follow a power law function of the relative density. The fracture behavior after compression is linked to the neck size developed during sintering, exhibiting two different mechanisms of failure: interparticle neck breaking and intergranular cracking in samples with relative densities below and above of 90%, respectively. The main conclusion is that relative density is responsible for the kinetics, mechanical properties, and failure behavior of Ti6 Al4 V powders.

In the last century,increasing knowledge about glial cells has revealed their importance in brain physiology and disease and an exciting potential target for new therapeutic interventions(hernández et al.,2021).Ischemic stroke is the most common of all types of *** the second leading cause of disability and mortality,ischemic stroke is a serious socio-economic burden *** it has been strongly associated with aging,during 2020 COVID-19 emerged as a new risk factor for ischemic stroke in younger patients(Cagnazzo et al.,2021).The only therapy or intervention currently available for humans is early reperfusion after the onset of the first ***,due to the high risk of brain hemorrhage,these treatments are suitable for only a small percentage of ***,reperfusion does not prevent post-injury neurodegeneration,hence the importance of finding new therapeutic alternatives to ameliorate ischemic damage and improve post-stroke quality of life.

Getting started in mapping-by-sequencing

Next-generation sequencing （NGS） technologies allow the cost-effective sequencing of whole genomes and have expanded the scope of genomics to novel applications, such as the genome-wide characterization of intraspecific polymorphisms and the rapid mapping and identification of point mutations. Next-generation sequencing platforms, such as the Illumina hiSeq2ooo platform, are now commercially available at affordable prices and routinely produce an enormous amount of sequence data, but their wide use is often hindered by a lack of knowledge on how to manipulateand process the information produced. In this review, we focus on the strategies that are available to geneticists who wish to incorporate these novel approaches into their research but who are not familiar with the necessary bioinformatic concepts and computational tools. In particular, we comprehensively summarize case studies where the use of NGS technologies has led to the identification of point mutations, a strategy that has been dubbed ＂mapping-by-sequencing＇, and review examples from plants and other model species such as Caenorhabditis elegans, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and Drosophila mela- nogaster. As these technologies are becoming cheaper and more powerful, their use is also expanding to allow mutation identification in species with larger genomes, such as many crop plants.

Monitoring of central corneal thickness after phacoemulsification—comparison of statical and rotating Scheimpflug pachymetry,and spectral-domain OCT

AIM:To explore the possibility of deploying three contactless devices(static and rotating Scheimpflug technology,spectral domain optical coherence tomography)for measuring central corneal thickness(CCT)in preoperative and postoperative examinations of cataract ***:Totally 72 patients who had undergone surgery without complications were *** CCT was measured prior to the operation,as well as on the first,5th-7th and 28th day following the operation using the Nidek NT 530-P,Sirius?,and Topcon OCT-2000 ***:A significant postoperative increase and subsequent decrease in CCT was identified with all three *** correlations were highly significant and thus reflect a very good degree of comparability at all times with the exception of the rotating Scheimpflug *** postoperative results from the latter differed significantly from the other *** correlations were Sirius/Topcon(P=0.010)and Sirius/Nidek(Phe comparison between Topcon and Nidek(P=0.056).CONCLUSION:All three devices are suitable for postoperative monitoring of *** measurement results are only comparable to a limited extent and not interchangeable in the course of treating a single *** is due to the different imaging technology used in the devices and the resulting modalities for conducting the measurements.

The sexually dimorphic expression of glutamate transporters and their implication in pain after spinal cord injury
