Clumped Isotope Analysis of Calcite and Dolomite Mixtures Using Selective Acid Extraction

Acid extraction methods have been used in the last half century to selectively extract the CO_(2)produced from different carbonate minerals in mixed ***,these methods are often time-consuming and labor *** application to clumped isotope(Δ47)analysis has not been *** propose here an acid extraction method with phosphoric acid for bulk stable and clumped isotope analysis that treats mixtures of calcite and dolomite the same regardless of the proportional ***_(2)evolved from calcite is extracted by allowing a reaction with phosphoric acid to proceed for 10 min at 50℃.We then extract CO_(2)evolved from dolomite by rapid ramping the acid temperature from 50 to 90℃and allowing the reaction to *** experimental results show that our method yields accurate calcite and dolomiteΔ_(47)values from mixed samples under different proportional *** method also displays equal or higher accuracy for calciteδ^(13)C and dolomiteδ^(13)C andδ^(18)O values from mixtures when compared to previous *** approach exhibits higher sample throughput than previous methods,is adequate for clumped isotopic analysis and simplifies the reaction progression from over 24 h to less than 2 h,while maintaining relatively high isotopic obtaining *** yet poorly resolves calciteδ18O values,as found with previous methods.

The Burma Terrane has yielded some of the earliest pieces of evidence for monsoonal rainfall in the Bay of ***,Burmese ecosystems and their potential monsoonal imprint remain poorly *** study focuses on the late Eocene Yaw Formation(23°N)in central Myanmar,which was located near the equator(c.5°N)during the *** quantitatively assessed the past vegetation,climate,and depositional environments with sporomorph diagrams,bioclimatic analysis,and sequence *** calculated the palynological diversity and drew inferences with rarefaction analysis by comparing with four other middle to late Eocene tropical *** results highlight a high floristic diversity for the palynoflora throughout the section formed by six pollen zones characterized by different *** indicate that lowland evergreen forests and swamps dominated in the Eocene Burmese deltaic plains while terra firma areas were occupied by seasonal evergreen,seasonally dry,and deciduous *** vegetation pattern is typical to what is found around the Bay of Bengal today and supports a monsoon-like climate at the time of the Yaw *** analysis further suggests that in the late Eocene,the Yaw Formation was more seasonal,drier,and cooler compared to modern-day climate at similar near-equatorial *** seasonal and drier conditions can be explained by a well-marked seasonal migration of the Intertropical Convergence Zone(ITCZ),driver of proto-monsoonal *** temperatures in the late Eocene of central Myanmar may be due to the lack of adequate modern analogues for the Eocene monsoonal climate,while those found at other three Eocene Asian paleobotanical sites(India and South China)may be caused by the effect of canopy evapotranspirational *** data suggest that paleoenvironmental change including two transgressive-regressive depositional sequences is controlled by global sea level change,which may be driven by cl

Nutritional quality of Drosophila melanogaster as factitious prey for rearing the predatory bug Orius majusculus

The predatory bug,Orius majusculus(Reuter),is an important predator of thrips commercially produced for augmentative releases using the eggs of the Mediterranea n flour moth Ephestia kuehniella(Zeller).In this study,we assessed the potential for using frozen adults of fruit flies,Drosophila melanogaster(Meigen),either as nymphal rearing diet or as diet throughout the entire *** compared life-hi story traits and reproduction of predators when fed *** with high lipid body content(lipid-rich)and with high protein body content(protein-rich),using a diet of 100%*** eggs as *** also analyzed the biochemical composition of both prey and predator in order to assess the nutritional quality of each diet,which partially explained the adequacy of the different diets for *** were significant differences between predators fed the two types of ***,with the protein-rich flies as diet providing the best results in terms of mortality and ***,we show that while feeding *** throughout their development with *** increases mortality and reduces reproduction,protein-rich *** can be used as nymphal diet with minimal reduction in reproductivity and minimal increase in mortality.

＜正＞Project planning methods and tools still have weaknesses when it comes to modeling weakly structured work processes, task interdependencies or uncertainty. Particularly when managing parallel product development projects it is challenging to plan task assignments to personnel, to predict the resulting work load, the temporal course of work progress and to model these issues in a consistent framework, A rather unrealistic project scheduling often occurs which has not much in common with the real course of work progress. It is a well known fact that important tasks may then be neglected for the benefit of urgent tasks - leading to an operational precipitance at the end of the project. Exceeded deadlines or development results of poor quality are common consequences. Existing simulation approaches only theoretically provide some help here. Due to laborious definition of predecessor-relations of tasks, even if tasks are practically performed in parallel, an effective practical deployment has not taken place yet. In this paper a person-centered, actor-driven simulation approach is proposed that can cope with highly parallel tasks. The task execution sequence is determined by means of a bounded rational choice model. The unfolding model behavior is very realistic and can therefore provide a good basis for predicting project duration and costs. Test statistical results from a case study show that the simulated project duration differs not significantly from the empirically observed proj ect duration.

前言由于近几年来形形色色结构与机器设计的进展,相应出现了更多的振动问题。精确测量冲击与振动的必要性变得十分重要。因此,为优选振动传感器的结构与规定其校准方法付出了很大的努力。本文着重论述压电加速度计的动态校准方法。压电加速度计已很普及,因为它对质量比的灵敏度高而对不利环境的灵敏度低。压电加速计的频率范围与动态范围很宽,适合于当前先进的测量与分析设备的性能。校准一般是指用于检验可能影响传感器测量精度的全部工作特性的过程。
