Low-altitude geophysical magnetic prospecting based on multirotor UAV as a promising replacement for traditional ground survey

The prospects for expanding the mineral resource base in many countries are linked with the exploration of stranded sites localized at unexplored areas with complex natural and landscape conditions that make any ground survey,including magnetic prospecting,difficult and *** current level of geology requires high-precision and large-scale data at the first stages of geological *** 2012,technologies of aeromagnetic surveying with unmanned aircraft vehicles(UAV)enter the market,but most of them are based on big fixed-wing UAV and do not allow to substantially increase the level of survey granularity compared with traditional aerial *** increase the scale of survey,it is necessary to reduce the altitude and speed of flight,for which the authors develop the methodical and technical solutions described in this *** obtain data at altitudes of 5 m above the terrain even in a rugged relief,we created heavy multirotor UAVs that are stable in flight and may be used in a wide range of environmental conditions(even a moderate snowfall),and develop a special software to generate flight missions on the basis of digital elevation models.A UAV has special design to reduce magnetic interference of the flight platform;the magnetic sensor is hung below the *** technology was conducted in a considerable amount of magnetic surveys in the mountainous regions of East Siberia between 2014 and *** results of the comparison between airborne and ground surveys are presented,which show that the sensitivity of the developed system in conjunction with low-altitude measurements can cover any geologically significant anomalies of the magnetic *** unmanned survey is cheaper and more productive;the multirotor-based technologies may largely replace traditional ground magnetic exploration in scales of 1:10,000−1:1000.

Effects of site preparation methods on soil physical properties and outplanting success of coniferous seedlings in boreal forests

This study assessed the effect of patch scarification and mounding on the physical properties of the root layer and the success of tree planting in various types of *** study was conducted on 12 forest sites in taiga forests of the European part of Russia.A total of 54 plots were set up to assess seedling survival;root collar diameter,height,and heigh increment were measured for 240 seedlings to assess *** the rooting layer,240 soil samples were taken to determine physical *** study showed that soil treatment methods had no effect on bulk density and total porosity in Cladina ***,reduced soil moisture was noted,particularly in mounds,resulting in increased *** Myrtillus sites,there were increased bulk density,reduced soil moisture,and total porosity in the *** treatment in Polytrichum sites resulted in reduced soil moisture and increased aeration *** the Myrtillus and Polytrichum sites,patch scarification had no effects on physical *** Polytrichum sites,survival rates,heights,and heigh increments of bareroot norway spruce seedlings in mounds were higher than in patches;however,the same did not apply to *** Cladina and Myrtillus sites,there was no difference in growth for bareroot and containerised seedlings with different soil *** conditions and soil types should be considered when applying different soil treatment methods to ensure high survival rates and successful seedling growth.

FLOW PROPERTIES OF A DUSTY-GAS POInT SOURCE In A SUPERSOnIC FREE STREAM

It is demonstrated that fairly inertial particles travel along oscillating and intersecting trajectories between the bow and termination shock waves . In this region formation of " mufti- layer structure" in panicle distribution with alternating low- and high density layers is revealed. Moreover sharp accumulation of particles occurs near the envelopes of particle trajectories .

By using Lagrangian method, the flow properties of a dusty-gas point source in a supersonic free stream were studied and the particle parameters in the near-symmetry-axis region were obtained . Recently fabricated InSe monolayers exhibit remarkable characteristics that indicate the potential of this material to host a number of many-body *** this work,we systematically describe collective electronic effects in hole-doped InSe monolayers using advanced many-body *** this end,we derive a realistic electronic-structure model from first principles that takes into account the most important characteristics of this material,including a flat band with prominent van Hove singularities in the electronic spectrum,strong electron–phonon coupling,and weakly screened long-ranged Coulomb *** calculate the temperature-dependent phase diagram as a function of band filling and observe that this system is in a regime with coexisting charge density wave and ferromagnetic instabilities that are driven by strong electronic Coulomb *** regime can be achieved at realistic doping levels and high enough temperatures,and can be verified *** find that the electron–phonon interaction does not play a crucial role in these effects,effectively suppressing the local Coulomb interaction without changing the qualitative physical picture.

The Role of Thermodynamics in Model Reduction when Using Invariant Grids

In the present work,we develop in detail the process leading to reduction of models in chemical kinetics when using the Method of Invariant Grids(MIG).To this end,reduced models(invariant grids)are obtained by refining initial approximations of slow invariant manifolds,and used for integrating smaller and less stiff systems of equations capable to recover the detailed description with high ***,we clarify the role played by thermodynamics in model reduction,and carry out a comparison between detailed and reduced solutions for a model hydrogen oxidation reaction.

Harnessing the power of immersive virtual reality-visualization and analysis of 3D earth science data sets

The availability and quantity of remotely sensed and terrestrial geospatial data sets are on the ***,these data sets have been analyzed and quarried on 2D desktop computers;however,immersive technologies and specifically immersive virtual reality(iVR)allow for the integration,visualization,analysis,and exploration of these 3D geospatial data *** can deliver remote and large-scale geospatial data sets to the laboratory,providing embodied experiences of field sites across the earth and *** describe a workflow for the ingestion of geospatial data sets and the development of an iVR workbench,and present the application of these for an experience of Iceland’s Thrihnukar volcano where we:(1)combined satellite imagery with terrain elevation data to create a basic reconstruction of the physical site;(2)used terrestrial LiDAR data to provide a geo-referenced point cloud model of the magmatic-volcanic system,as well as the LiDAR intensity values for the identification of rock types;and(3)used Structure-from-Motion(SfM)to construct a photorealistic point cloud of the inside *** workbench provides tools for the direct manipulation of the georeferenced data sets,including scaling,rotation,and translation,and a suite of geometric measurement tools,including length,area,and *** developments will be inspired by an ongoing user study that formally evaluates the workbench’s mature components in the context of fieldwork and analyses activities.

Comparison of Invariant Manifolds for Model Reduction in Chemical Kinetics

A modern approach to model reduction in chemical kinetics is often based on the notion of slow invariant *** goal of this paper is to give a comparison of various methods of construction of slow invariant manifolds using a simple Michaelis-Menten catalytic *** explore a recently introduced Method of Invariant Grids(MIG)for iteratively solving the invariance *** initial approximations for the grid are considered such as Quasi Equilibrium Manifold,Spectral Quasi Equilibrium Manifold,Intrinsic Low Dimensional Manifold and Symmetric Entropic Intrinsic Low Dimensional *** invariant manifold was also computed using the Computational Singular Perturbation(CSP)method.A comparison between MIG and CSP is also reported.
