We estimate the thermal properties of unsmooth si nanowires,considering key factors such as size(diameter),surface texture(roughness)and quantum size effects(phonon states)at different *** nanowires with a diameter of less than 20 nm,we highlight the importance of quantum size effects in heat capacity calculations,using dispersion relations derived from the modified frequency equation for the elasticity of a *** thermal conductivities of nanowires with diameters of 37,56,and 115nm are predicted using the Fuchs–sondheimer model and soffer’s specular ***,the roughness parameters are chosen to reflect the technological characteristics of the real *** findings reveal that surface texture plays a significant role in thermal conductivity,particularly in the realm of ballistic heat transfer within *** study provides practical recommendations for developing new thermal management materials.

Distortions in focusing laser pulses due to spatio-temporal couplings:an analytic description

In ultra-short laser pulses,small changes in dispersion properties before the final focusing mirror can lead to severe pulse distortions around the focus and therefore to very different pulse properties at the point of laser±matter interaction,yielding unexpected interaction *** mapping between far-and near-field laser properties intricately depends on the spatial and angular dispersion properties as well as the focal *** a focused Gaussian laser pulse under the influence of angular,spatial and group-delay dispersion,we derive analytical expressions for its pulse-front tilt,duration and width from a fully analytic expression for its electric field in the time±space domain obtained with scalar diffraction *** expression is not only valid in and near the focus but also along the entire propagation distance from the focusing mirror to the *** relating angular,spatial and group-delay dispersion before focusing at an off-axis parabola,where they are well measurable,to the respective values in the pulse’s focus are obtained by a ray tracing ***,these formulas are used to show in example setups that the pulse-front tilts of lasers with small initial dispersion can become several tens of degrees larger in the vicinity of the focus while being small directly in the *** formulas derived here provide the analytical foundation for observations previously made in numerical *** numerically simulating Gaussian pulse propagation and measuring properties of the pulse at distances several Rayleigh lengths off the focus,we verify the analytic expressions.

The role of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants in addressing reduction of Meniere's disease burden:A scoping review

Objective:To assess the effect of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors(ssRIs)and tricyclic antidepressants(TCAs)in reducing vertigo,tinnitus,and hearing loss among patients with Meniere's disease(MD).Data sources:The following databases were utilized in this scoping review:Ovid Medline,PubMed-NCBI,CINAHL,Cochrane Library,Web of science,and ***:studies were identified through the following search phrases:"serotonin specific reuptake inhibitors"OR"tricyclic antidepressants"AND"Meniere's disease."References from included manuscripts were examined for possible inclusion of additional ***:The literature search yielded 23 results,which were screened by three independent *** studies and three duplicates were *** examination of references from the included studies yielded two additional publications.A total of four published studies assessing ssRIs and TCAs among 147 patients with MD were ultimately *** studies described significant reductions in vertigo attack frequency among patients treated with either ssRIs or TCAs compared to their pretreatment *** studies assessed the drugs'effects on hearing,of which none found a significant difference among patients treated with ssRIs or *** study found a significant decrease in patient-reported tinnitus following treatment with TCAs or ssRIs compared to their pretreatment ***:Data exploring ssRIs and TCAs among patients with MD suggests that these medications may reduce the frequency of tinnitus and vertigo,although there was significant heterogeneity in outcome *** remains a need for larger-scale prospective studies that emphasize objective data to evaluate their effective-ness in reducing common MD symptoms.

Cluster Analysis of the Roma-BZCAT Blazars

Based on the collected multiwavelength data, namely in the radio(NVss, FIRsT, RATAN-600), IR(WIsE),optical(Pan-sTARRs), UV(GALEX), and X-ray(ROsAT, swift-XRT) ranges, we have performed a cluster analysis for the blazars of the Roma-BZCAT catalog. Using two machine learning methods, namely a combination of PCA with k-means clustering and Kohonen's self-organizing maps(sOMs), we have constructed an independent classification of the blazars(five classes) and compared the classes with the known Roma-BZCAT classification(FsRQs, BL Lacs, galaxy-dominated BL Lacs, and blazars of an uncertain type) as well as with the high synchrotron peaked(HsP) blazars from the 3HsP catalog and blazars from the TeVCat catalog. The obtained groups demonstrate concordance with the BL Lac/FsRQ classification along with a continuous character of the change in the properties. The group of HsP blazars stands out against the overall distribution. We examine the characteristics of the five groups and demonstrate distinctions in their spectral energy distribution shapes. The effectiveness of the clustering technique for objective analysis of multiparametric arrays of experimental data is demonstrated.
