Multi-Step Clustering of Smart Meters Time Series:Application to Demand Flexibility Characterization of SME Customers

Customer segmentation according to load-shape profiles using smart meter data is an increasingly important application to vital the planning and operation of energy systems and to enable citizens’participation in the energy *** study proposes an innovative multi-step clustering procedure to segment customers based on load-shape patterns at the daily and intra-daily time *** meter data is split between daily and hourly normalized time series to assess monthly,weekly,daily,and hourly seasonality patterns *** dimensionality reduction implicit in the splitting allows a direct approach to clustering raw daily energy time series *** intraday clustering procedure sequentially identifies representative hourly day-unit profiles for each customer and the entire *** the first time,a step function approach is applied to reduce time series *** attributes embedded in surveys are employed to build external clustering validation metrics using Cramer’s V correlation factors and to identify statistically significant determinants of load-shape in energy *** addition,a time series features engineering approach is used to extract 16 relevant demand flexibility indicators that characterize customers and corresponding clusters along four different axes:available Energy(E),Temporal patterns(T),Consistency(C),and Variability(V).The methodology is implemented on a real-world electricity consumption dataset of 325 Small and Medium-sized Enterprise(SME)customers,identifying 4 daily and 6 hourly easy-to-interpret,well-defined *** application of the methodology includes selecting key parameters via grid search and a thorough comparison of clustering distances and methods to ensure the robustness of the *** research can test the scalability of the methodology to larger datasets from various customer segments(households and large commercial)and locations with different weather and socioeconomic conditio

Mountain forests are more prone to environmental predispositions(EPs)than submountain *** remote sensing of mountain forests enables instantaneous damage mapping,the investigation of the causes requires field ***,a local field or regionally modeled environmental characteristics influence remote data evaluation *** study focused on the evaluation of EPs effects damaging mountain forests between various spatial resolutions during environmental *** evaluation was divided into managed and natural forests in the Hruby Jeseník Mts.(Czech Republic;240-1491 m a.s.l.;50.082°N,17.231°E).Damage was assessed through the discrimination analysis of the normalised difference vegetation index(NDVI)by MODIS VI during alternating drought and flood periods *** local environmental influence was assessed using the discrimination function(DF)separability of forest damage in the training *** regional influence was assessed through map algebra estimated via the DF and a forest decline spatial model based on EPs from differences between risk growth conditions and biomass fuzzy ***,EPs and soil influenced forest NDVI at different *** management afflicted the NDVI more than the *** EPs afflicted the NDVI more than the soil *** winters and droughts had a greater influence on the NDVI than the flood events,with the winter of 2005/2006 inverting the DF direction,and the 2003 drought increasing differences in managed forest biomass and decreasing differences in natural forest *** than 50% of declining managed forests in the training sets occurred on Leptosols,Podzols and *** a regional scale,the soil influence was eliminated by multiple *** EPs influenced 96% of natural forest and 65% of managed forest,though managed forest damage was more *** mountain forest NDVI decline was dependent on both management and risk predispositions.

Although the association between alcohol and pancreatic diseases has been recognized for a long time,the impact of alcohol consumption on pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer(PC)remains poorly *** there is not consensus about the epidemiology and the beverage type,dose and duration of alcohol consumption causing these *** objective of this study was to review the epidemiology described in the literature for pancreatic diseases as a consequence of alcoholic behavior trying to understand the association between dose,type and frequency of alcohol consumption and risk of pancreatitis and *** majority of the studies conclude that high alcohol intake was associated with a higher risk of pancreatitis(around 2.5%-3% between heavy drinkers and 1.3%between non drinkers).About 70%of pancreatitis are due to chronic heavy alcohol *** this incidence rate differs between countries,it is clear that the risk of developing pancreatitis increases with increasing doses of alcohol and the average of alcohol consumption vary since 80 to 150 g/d for 10-15 *** regard to PC, the role of alcohol consumption remains less clear,and low to moderate alcohol consumption do not appear to be associated with PC risk,and only chronic heavy drinking increase the risk compared with lightly *** a population of 10%-15%of heavy drinkers, 2%-5%of all PC cases could be attributed to alcohol ***,as only a minority(less than 10%for pancreatitis and 5%for PC)of heavily drinkers develops these pancreatic diseases,there are other predisposing factors besides alcohol *** variability and environmental exposures such as smoking and diet modify the risk and should be considered for further investigations.

This paper explores the motivations behind the behaviors of characters in the work of renowned southern writer, Flannery O＇Connor, and displays that these characters behave the way that they do because of their relationships with their mothers. Herein the author investigates Attachment Theory, a theory regarding the human need to connect with caregivers and nurturers in childhood, and--through a psychological lens--how this principle influences the grown characters in O＇Connor＇s work. In an examination of the prevalent archetype of ＂The Great Mother＂ in her stories, namely ＂The Lame Shall Enter First＂, ＂The Enduring Chill＂, and ＂Parker＇s Back＂, we can see the effects of secure---or confident, warm and reliable--parent-child attachment as well as the effects of insecure---unstable and unreliable--attachment. These different attachment styles contribute to the lifelong development of different behaviors and even personalities in the characters of Norton, Asbury, and O.E. Parker. In the cases above mentioned, the relationship between characters and their maternal figures contribute not only to the plot of the story, but also to the fate of the characters--driving them to do things that are often extreme and climactically catalytic. It proves that parent-child relationships have lasting psychological effects, and, in the case of O＇Connor＇s work, spiritual ones as well. O＇Connor is well known for the religious morals of her works, and in this study it is ultimately evident that the relationships between characters and their maternal figures reflect and influence each character＇s relationship with and attitude towards Deity.

As non-photosynthesizing organs, roots are dependent on diffusion of oxygen from the external environment and, in some in stances, from the shoot for their aerobic metabolism . Establishment of hypoxic niches in the developing tissues of plants has been postulated as a consequence of insufficient diffusion of oxygen to satisfy the demands throughout development. Here, we report that such niches are established at specific stages of lateral root primordia development in Arabidopsis thaliana grown under aerobic conditions. Using gain- and loss-of-function mutants, we show that ERF-Ⅶ transcription factors, which mediate hypoxic responses, control root architecture by acting in cells with a high level of auxin signaling. ERF-Ⅶs repress the expression of the auxin-induced genes LBD16, LBD18, and PUCHI, which are essential for lateral root development, by binding to their promoters. Our results support a model in which the establishment of hypoxic n iches in the developing lateral root primordia con tributes to the shutting down of key auxin-induced genes and regulates the production of lateral roots.

Gaps play a key role in forest ecosystem development and result from either natural processes or targeted forest management *** aim of this study was to investigate the interrelationships of soil properties in each of three forest types and two treatments,and to identify factors that influence levels of soil mineral nitrogen *** relation between mineral nitrogen and factors of soil parameters and stand type(European beech,Norway spruce,mixed stand)categories were *** spruce forest type stored significant nitrogen in both mineral forms of ***,there was a significant linear dependence between N-NO3^-(nitrate anion)concentrations and cation exchange capacity(CEC)parameters such as base cation contents(S-CEC)and potential ureolytic activities(UreasePot),as well as between N-NH4^+(ammonium cation)concentrations and both hydrolytic acidities(Ha-CEC)and ureolytic *** dependence of N-NO3^-concentrations on S-CEC contents and UreasePot was negative,especially in adjacent *** dependence of N-NH4^+concentrations on Ha-CEC and UreasePot was week in the beech and mixed forest types while it was significantly positive in the spruce forest type.

The quantum treatment of gravity has been researched for more than fifty years. The focus of the efforts was the investigation of the “gravitational quantum field” concept. This article paves the way to solving this puzzle. Gravity is a phenomenon that emerges from the undulating nature of the universe. To support this claim, I deduce a more generalized expression than that of Newton’s gravity from simple considerations relating to the wave function, the probability density function, and a hypothesis of how all particles in the universe are related. This expression uncovers the true nature of the gravitational phenomenon, dark matter, and dark energy. This true nature of the gravitational field allows its renormalization and the definition of its elementary charge. The result obtained considers the Mach’s principle and deduces the origin of the inertial force. Finally, it is concluded that a new model of the universe is necessary.

E-government: What can China learn from Europe?

In the paper, the temperature dependence of the sensitivity of an avalanche-photodiode-based receiver applied in the free space optical communication link is discussed. Communication systems of this type are exposed to a wide range of operating temperatures, which markedly affect many photodiode and preamplifier parameters. The paper describes receiver sensitivity calculation, taking into consideration the temperature dependence of avalanche photodiode gain, excess noise factor, dark current and thermal noise of preamplifier resistances. Presented calculation is demonstrated on the connection of a small-area silicon APD operating in the wavelength range from 820 to 1150 nm with a transimpedance preamplifier using a bipolar junction transistor.
