Parasitic isopods(family Bopyridae)and burrowing barnacles(family Trypetesidae)infesting hermit crabs were investigated from shallow subtidal collections made along the southeastern coast of Spain in 2009.A total of 713 specimens of clibanarius erythropus(Latreille,1818)and 82 calcinus tubularis(L.,1767)were *** shells and worm tubes inhabited by hermit crabs were collected by hand while snorkeling and were cracked to determine host species,size,sex and presence of *** species of bopyrid isopods were found on ***:the branchial parasite Bopyrissa fraiseii(carayon,1943)and the abdominal parasite Parathelges cardonae codreanu and codreanu in codreanu,*** all *** examined,Bopyrissa fraiseii was found on 0.6%of hermit crabs and *** was found on 0.3%.A redescription of *** is provided and the species is documented with light and scanning electron microscopy for the first *** calcinus tubularis harbored parasitic isopods,but one specimen was parasitized by an unidentified rhizocephalan barnacle of the genus Septosaccus(1.2%).The burrowing barnacle Trypetesa lampas(Hancock,1849)was found associated with both hermit crab species and evidence of predation on host eggs by this barnacle is shown for the first *** lampas was found in 4.2%of the shells *** present study expands our knowledge of the parasite fauna of hermit crabs from the Mediterranean Sea and indicates that additional research is needed to determine the impact of trypetesid egg predators on hermit crab populations.

The study of multi-modal communication has only recently been extended to innate and learned interactions between flowers and their animal visitors, and usually only to pollinators. Here we studied the relevance of floral scent and visual display of a night blooming, putatively hawkmoth-pollinated plantOenothera acaulis(Onagraceae) in the attraction of non-native cockroachesBlatta orientalis(Blattodea: Blattidae), which function as facultative floral larcenists in coastal habitats of central chile. We experimentally decoupled visual (corolla) and olfactory (fragrance) stimuli by presenting paper corollas and green mesh bags, with or without a freshly-picked natural flower inside. We then contrasted the behavioral responses of roaches in these treatments with those to the natural combination of traits in actual flowers and their respective control treatments, measuring the roaches’ frequency of first visits, mean and total residence time spent in each treatment. The roaches primarily used olfactory cues when approachingO. acaulisflowers at two biologically relevant spatial scales. In addition, the presence of conspecific roaches had a strong influence on recruitment to the experimental arena, increasing the statistical differences among treatments. Our results suggest a primacy of floral fragrance over visual stimuli in the foraging responses ofB. orientalis. Olfactory cues were necessary and sufficient to attract the roaches, and the visual cues presented in our manipulations only marginally increased their attraction within a 20 cm diameter of the stimulus. The full spectrum of floral visitation behavior was not elicited by the artificial flowers, suggesting the need for additional tactile or contact chemosensory stimuli not provided by paper. Although the nitrogenous scent compounds that we found inO. acaulisflowers are almost exclusively found in hawkmoth-pollinated flowers, the attractiveness of these compounds to a non-native, facultative flower-visiting insect

We present a molecular phylogenetic study of the lichen genus Sticta focusing on colombia,using the ITS fungal barcoding gene for a total of 370 ingroup OTUs,with 322 newly generated *** topology resulting from a maximum likelihood approach does not support current species concepts in Sticta,which use a morphological concept,but in contrast shows that similar morphodemes evolved multiple times independently within the *** a consequence,currently applied names such as *** and *** comprise numerous(up to more than 20)unrelated species-level lineages,which can be distinguished also phenotypically using previously unrecognized characters such as lobe configuration,lobe surface structure,tomentum type,and anatomy of the basal membrane of the *** conclude that the genus Sticta contains about four to five times the number of species currently *** colombia alone,approximately 150 species of Sticta are present.

The zoophylic dermatophytes, as Trichophyton erinacei, frequently cause very inflammatory tineas in the human host. This dermatophyte is carried by some pets, particularly by the terrestrial hedgehog. Herein, we present the case of a 22-year-old male student with an exudative erythematous scaly plaque on his right fifth finger for 1 month. He had a pet African hedgehog (Atelerix albiventris). KOH examination demonstrated hyphae compatible with dermatophytes. The culture revealed a white, radiated dusty colony. PcR sequencing of the region ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 identified T. erinacei. The final diagnosis was inflammatory tinea manuum due to T. erinacei. clinical and mycological cure was achieved after treatment with oral terbinafine 250 mg/day × 1 month.

Because of the growing worldwide demand for maize grain,new alternatives have been sought for breeding of this cereal,e.g.,development of polyembryonic varieties,which agronomic performance could positively impact the grain yield per unit area,and nutritional *** objectives of this study were to(1)determine the phytochemicals present in the embryo and endosperm of grain from maize families with high,low,and null polyembryony frequency,which were planted at different locations,and(2)state the relationship between these compounds and seed *** extracted phytochemicals from corn were identified by *** results showed that the genotype with the highest presence of phytochemicals was the brachytic population with high polyembryony called“BAP”,which also required less water during the germination *** number of phytochemicals in both embryo and endosperm tissues was not related to the sowing location where they came from or the type of *** number of different phytochemicals depended on the grain tissue from where they were *** chemical compounds found in the different maize tissues were related to the development of the plant,either in roots or nibs because these are mainly associated with the lignin synthesis.

Lipid peroxidation and iron accumulation are closely associated with neurodegenerative diseases,such as Alzheimer’s,Parkinson’s,and Huntington’s diseases,or neurodegeneration with brain iron accumulation *** dysfunction,lipofuscin accumulation,autophagy disruption,and ferroptosis have been implicated as the critical pathomechanisms of lipid peroxidation and iron accumulation in these ***,the connection between lipid peroxidation and iron accumulation and the initial cause or consequence in neurodegeneration processes is *** this review,we have compiled the known mechanisms by which lipid peroxidation triggers iron accumulation and lipofuscin formation,and the effect of iron overload on lipid peroxidation and cellular *** vicious cycle established between both pathological alterations may lead to the development of ***,the investigation of these mechanisms is essential for exploring therapeutic strategies to restrict *** addition,we discuss the interplay between lipid peroxidation and iron accumulation in neurodegeneration,particularly in PLA2G6-associated neurodegeneration,a rare neurodegenerative disease with autosomal recessive inheritance,which belongs to the group of neurodegeneration with brain iron accumulation disorders.

本文对巴拿马碰撞法律法规,尤其是与海上碰撞事故中确定碰撞责任和碰撞损害赔偿相关的法律法规,进行了详细的研究。本文分析了一般情况下巴拿马管辖权对船舶碰撞案件的适用及范围,并明确了在巴拿马法律体系中没有确定船舶碰撞事故责任分担和责任主体的规定也是现存的问题之一。除此之外,本文还对如何通过比较法研究借鉴国外法律体系中确定船舶碰撞案件中责任主体的法律规定进行了阐述,并明确建立一个能够确定碰撞责任并确保责任主体支付到期赔偿的法律制度具有重要意义。本文还探讨了船舶碰撞案件中的民事责任,即对民事注意义务进行了阐述,对过失、损害以及因果关系等具体问题进行了分析。据预测,一般情况下船舶碰撞风险是主要风险之一,这一风险致使司法机关需要对由哪一方承担此次海事事故所造成的损害赔偿责任展开司法调查。本文选题源于修订和完善巴拿马法律以确定碰撞事故中谁是责任主体、谁来赔偿以及如何赔偿的需求。为了满足这一需求,本文对巴拿马现行法律进行分析,并将其与其他国家的法律进行比较研究。本文建议修改《巴拿马商事海商法》,在其中增加在船舶碰撞案件中确定碰撞责任主体以及责任比例的条款。因为这些条款有助于在碰撞发生时确定碰撞过失、责任以及责任主体,并为碰撞事故的裁判提供一个框架。这表明本文对此领域的研究具有重要意义。然而,还需要完善巴拿马船舶碰撞法规,以确定碰撞发生时的责任主体。

Objective To report the outcomes of intra-and extra-peritoneal robot-assisted radical prostatectomy(RARP)and robot-assisted radical cystectomy(RARc)with Hugo™robot-assisted surgery(RAS)system(Medtronic,Minneapolis,MN,USA).Methods Data of twenty patients who underwent RARP and one RARc at our institution between February 2022 and January 2023 were *** primary endpoint of the study was to report the surgical setting of Hugo™RAS system to perform RARP and *** secondary endpoint was to assess the feasibility of RARP and RARc with this novel robotic platform and report the *** Seventeen patients underwent RARP with a transperitoneal approach,and three with an extraperitoneal approach;and one patient underwent RARc with intracorporeal ileal *** intraoperative complications *** docking and console time were 12(interquartile range[IQR]7-16)min and 185(IQR 177-192)min for transperitoneal RARP,15(IQR 12-17)min and 170(IQR 162-185)min for extraperitoneal *** intraoperative complications *** patient submitted to extraperitoneal RARP had a urinary tract infection in the postoperative period that required an antibiotic treatment(clavien-Dindo Grade 2).In case of transperitoneal RARP,two minor complications occurred(one pelvic hematoma and one urinary tract infection;both clavien-Dindo Grade 2).conclusion Hugo™RAS system is a novel promising robotic platform that allows to perform major oncological pelvic *** showed the feasibility of RARP both intra-and extra-peritoneally and RARc with intracorporeal ileal conduit with this novel platform.

Background: In combat operations, patients with traumatic injuries require expeditious evacuation to improve survival. Studies have shown that long transport times are associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Limited data exist on the influence of transport time on patient outcomes with specific injury types. The objective of this study was to determine the impact of the duration of time from the initial request for medical evacuation to arrival at a medical treatment facility on morbidity and mortality in casualties with traumatic extremity amputation and noncompressible torso injury(NcTI).Methods: We completed a retrospective review of MEDEVAc patient care records for United States military personnel who sustained traumatic amputations and NcTI during Operation Enduring Freedom between January 2011 and March 2014. We grouped patients as traumatic amputation and NcTI(AMP+NcTI), traumatic amputation only(AMP),and neither AMP nor NcTI(Non-AMP/NcTI). Analysis was performed using chi-squared tests, Fisher's exact tests,cochran-Armitage Trend tests, Shapiro-Wilks tests, Wilcoxon and Kruskal-Wallis techniques and cox proportional hazards regression ***: We reviewed 1267 records, of which 669 had an injury severity score(ISS) of 10 or greater and were included in the analysis. In the study population, 15.5% sustained only amputation injuries(n=104, AMP only), 10.8% sustained amputation and NcTI(n=72, AMP+NcTI), and 73.7% did not sustain either an amputation or an NcTI(n=493,Non-AMP/NcTI). AMP+NcTI had the highest mortality(16.7%) with transport time greater than 60 min. While the AMP+NcTI group had decreasing survival with longer transport times, AMP and Non-AMP/NcTI did not exhibit the same ***: A decreased transport time from the point of injury to a medical treatment facility was associated with decreased mortality in patients who suffered a combination of amputation injury and NcTI. Background : The objective of this study was to validate an animal model for dry eye during and after the administration of 1% ophthalmic atropine sulfate(OAS) in New Zealand white(NZW) *** : OAS(1%) was applied three times per day to 30 eyes of 15 healthy NZW rabbits. Sacrifice, enucleation, and lacrimal gland removal took place on days 15, 21,and 30(OAS group). A second group(n = 5) was used as control. clinical evaluations took place on days 3, 10, 15, 18, 21, 24 and 30. The primary endpoints were:Schirmer I test, tear break-up time(TBUT), and corneal fluorescein staining. As secondary endpoints, clinical changes including intraocular pressure, and histopathology were *** : While OAS was administered, the Schirmer I test showed a statistically significant reduction for OAS group versus control( p ction( p cally significant differences between groups(days 3 and 10;p = 0.001) and versus basal values(day 3;p cein staining showed a statistically significant difference(day 3;p = 0.001). The most frequent clinical finding was conjunctival hyperemia(76.9% OAS vs. 20% control). For histopathology, all OAS subjects presented some degree of inflammation(86.7% minimal;13.3% mild) whereas the control presented only 30% minimal inflammation. Goblet cell density showed no *** : The effectiveness of the OAS dry eye model in NZW rabbits as reported in previous studies was confirmed, provided that the application of the drug is maintained throughout the intervention;it is not a viable model after OAS administration is suspended.
