Influence of Pt/Ru anodic ratio on the valorization of ethanol by PEM electrocatalytic reforming towards value-added products

The ethanol electro-reforming process was studied over PtRu/C catalysts synthesized by the modified polyol method with different *** particular,this work reports the influence of anodic Pt:Ru ratio(5:1,2:1 and 1:2)on the organic product distribution(acetaldehyde,acetic acid and ethyl acetate)and pure hydrogen generation at different current densities operation *** characterization of the catalysts was made by X-ray diffraction(XRD),temperature-programmed reduction(TPR)and N_(2) adsorption-desorption *** patterns showed that Ru is introduced into the Pt structure,forming an alloy between both ***,the degree of alloy was higher by increasing the Ru *** TPR profiles Pt was found to be properly reduced while Ru was both in metallic state and forming *** electrochemical behaviour of each catalyst towards ethanol electroreforming process was investigated through electrochemical techniques in a half cell and a single proton exchange membrane(PEM)cell *** intermediate Pt:Ru ratio was found to result in high current density and electrochemical surface area(ECSA)values along with lower amounts of adsorbed ***,Ru addition seems to diminish the degree of degradation of the *** on characterization and in agreement with essays carried out in a PEM cell at mild conditions(80℃ and 1 atm),PtRu/C 2:1 anode provided the best electrocatalytic results in terms of current density(740 mA cm^(-2)),hydrogen production and selectivity toward acetic acid(up to 15%apart from acetaldehyde and ethyl acetate)while requiring the lowest energy consumption.

Influence of metal support in-plane symmetry on the corrugation of hexagonal boron nitride and graphene monolayers

Predicting the properties of two-dimensional （2D） materials as graphene and hexagonal boron nitride （h-BN） monolayers after their growth on any given substrate is a major challenge. While the influence of the electron configuration of the atoms of the underlying surface is well-understood, the effect of substrate geometry still remains unclear. The structural properties of h-BN monolayers grown on a rectangularly packed Rh（110） surface were characterized in situ by ultrahigh vacuum scanning tunneling microscopy and were compared to those that this material exhibits when grown on substrates showing different crystallographic orientations. Although the h-BN monolayer grown on Rh（110） was dominated by a unique quasiunidimensional moir6 pattern, suggesting considerable interface interaction, the moir6 corrugation was unexpectedly smaller than those reported for strongly interacting interfaces with hexagonal-terminated substrates, owing to differences in the possible binding landscapes at interfaces with differently oriented substrates. Moreover, a rule was derived for predicting how interface corrugation and the existence and extent of subregions within moir6 supercells containing favorable sites for orbital mixing between h-BN monolayers and their supports depend on substrate symmetry. These general symmetry considerations can be applied to numerous 2D materials, including graphene, thereby enabling the prediction of how substrate choice determines the properties of these materials. Furthermore, they could also provide new routes for tuning 2D material properties and for developing nanotemplates showing different geometries for Krowing adsorbate superlattices.

Background: Coupling biomass models with nutrient concentrations can provide sound estimations of carbon and nutrient contents, enabling the improvement of carbon and nutrient balance in forest ecosystems. Although nutrient concentrations are often assumed to be constant for some species and specific tree components, at least in mature stands,the concentrations usually vary with age, site index and even with tree density. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the sources of variation in nutrient concentrations in biomass compartments usually removed during harvesting operations, covering a range of species and management conditions: semi-natural forest, conventional forest plantations and short rotation forestry(SRF). Five species(Betula pubescens, Quercus robur, Eucalyptus globulus, Eucalyptus nitens and Populus spp.) and 14 genotypes were considered. A total of 430 trees were sampled in 61 plots to obtain 6 biomass components:leaves, twigs, thin branches, thick branches, bark and wood. Aboveground leafless biomass was pooled together *** concentrations of C, N, K, P, Ca, Mg, S, Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn and B were measured and the total biomass of each sampled tree and plot were determined. The data were analysed using boosted regression trees and conventional ***: The main sources of variation in nutrient concentrations were biomass component > > genotype(species) ≈ age >tree diameter. The concentrations of Ca, Mg and K were most strongly affected by genotype and age. The concentrations of P, K, Ca, Mg, S and Cu in the wood component decreased with age, whereas C concentrations increased, with a trend to reach 50% in the older trees. In the SRF, interamerican poplar and P. trichocarpa genotypes were comparatively more efficient in terms of Ca and K nutrient assimilation index(NAI)(+65-85%) than eucalypts, mainly because leafless biomass can be removed. We present the structural,morphological and photocatalytic properties of stretchable composites made with carbon nanotubes (CNTs),silicon rubber and Ni@TiO_(2):W nanoparticles(TiWNi NPs) with average size of 37±2 *** images showed that the TiWNi NPs decorated the surface of the CNT fibers,which are oriented in a preferential *** NPs presented a mixture of anatase/rutile phases with cubic *** performance of the TiWNi powders and stretchable composites was evaluated for the photocatalytic degradation of diclofenac (DCF) anti-inflammatory drug under ultraviolet-visible *** results revealed that the maximum DCF degradation percentages were 34.6%,91.9%,97.1%,98.5%and 100%for the CNT composite (stretched at 0%),TiWNi powders,CNT+TiWNi(stretched at 0%),CNT+TiWNi (stretched at 50%) and CNT+TiWNi (stretched at 100%),***,stretching the CNT+TiWNi composites was a good strategy to enhance the DCF degradation percentage from 97.1%to 100%,since stretching created additional defects (oxygen vacancies) that acted as electron sink,delaying the electron-hole recombination,and favors the DCF ***/absorbance measurements confirmed the presence of such ***,the reactive oxygen species (ROS) were determined by the scavenger’s experiments and found that the main ROS were the·OH and O_(2)-radicals,which attacked the DCF molecules,causing their *** results of this investigation confirmed that the stretchable CNT/TiWNi-based composites are a viable alternative to remove pharmaceutical contaminants from water and can be manually separated from the decontaminated water,which is unviable using photocatalytic powders.

AIM To characterize esophageal endoluminal landmarks to permit radial and longitudinal esophageal orientation and accurate lesion *** Distance from the incisors and radial orientation were estimated for the main left bronchus and the left atrium landmarks in 207 consecutive patients using white light examination. A sub-study was also performed using white light followed by endoscopic ultrasound(EUS) in 25 consecutive patients to confirm the *** scope orientation throughout the exam was maintained at the natural axis,where the left esophageal quadrant corresponds to the area between 6 and 9 o'clock. When an anatomical landmark was identified, it was recorded with a photograph and its quadrant orientation and distance from the incisors were determined. The reference points to obtain the distances and radial orientation were as follows: the midpoint of the left main bronchus and the most intense pulsatile zone of the left atrium. With the video processor system set to moderate insufflation, measurements were obtained at the end of the patients' air *** The left main bronchus and left atrium esophageal landmarks were identified using white light in 99% and 100% of subjects at a mean distance of 25.8 cm(SD2.3), and 31.4 cm(SD 2.4) from the incisors, respectively. The left main bronchus landmark was found to be a tubular, concave, non-pulsatile, esophageal external compression, occupying approximately 1/4 of the circumference. The left atrium landmark was identified as a round, convex, pulsatile, esophageal external compression, occupying approximately 1/4 of the circumference. Both landmarks were identified using white light on the anterior esophageal quadrant. Comparison of the patient and partner satisfaction with 700CX and Titan penile prostheses

Most widespread three-component penile prosthesis models are 700CXTM and Titan~. Our purpose is to assess patient and partner satisfaction after the first implant. This is a multicenter, retrospective, nonrandomized study in which all patients who met the inclusion criteria between 2009 and 2013 were included. In total, 248 patients agreed to participate. To evaluate patient satisfaction, a validated but modified 11-question questionnaire was completed （EDITS）; and a nonvalidated two-item questionnaire was given to the partner. Statistical analysis used an ordinal logistic regression model. Two hundred and forty-eight patients （194 with 700CXTM vs 54 with Titan） and 207 couples completed the questionnaire （165 with 700CXTM vs 42 with Titan）. Overall satisfaction was high. Both showed great reliability for sexual intercourse and high compliance with prior expectations. Most patients were able to manage the penile prosthesis correctly within 6 months. Postoperative penile shortening led to some dissatisfaction in 42% and 46% of cases （700CX/Titan）. Significant differences were found in three questions of patients＇ questionnaire. There were more patients satisfied with the 700CXTM （P= 0.0001）. No patient with Titan implant took longer than 6 months to optimal management. Only 4% of patients with 700CXTM implant were dissatisfied with the deflation, in contrast to 24% with the Titan （P = 0.0031）. Of the two partners＇ questions, one showed a statistically significant difference （P = 0.0026）. It seems that group 700CX＂ would recommend to re-implant the prosthesis with a greater tendency. The overall satisfaction was very high for both prostheses. The final aspect of the erected and flaccid penis was satisfactory, but both groups showed significant discontent with its final size. Partners＇ overall satisfaction was high.
