The North Atlantic Oscillation （NAO） is one of the major causes of many recent changes in the Arctic Ocean. Generally, it is related to wind speed, sea surface temperature （SST）, and sea ice cover. In this study, we analyzed the distributions of and correlations between SST, wind speed, NAO, and sea ice cover from 2003 to 2009 in the Greenland Sea at 10°W to 10°E, 65°N to 80°N. SST reached its peak in july, while wind speed reached its minimum in july. Seasonal variability of SST and wind speed was different for different regions. SST and wind speed mainly had negative correlations. Detailed correlation research was focused on the 75~N to 80~N band. regression analysis shows that in this band, the variation of SST lagged three months behind that of wind speed Ice cover and NAO had a positive correlation, and the correlation coefficient between ice cover and NAO in the year 2007 was 0.61 SST and NAO also had a positive correlation, and SST influenced NAO one month in advance. The correlation coefficients between SST and NAO reached 0.944 for the year 2005, 0.7 for the year 2008, and 0.74 for the year 2009 after shifting SST one month later. NAO also had a positive correlation with wind speed, and it also influenced wind speed one month in advance. The correlation coefficients between NAO and wind speed reached 0.783, 0.813, and 0.818 for the years 2004, 2005, and 2008, respectively, after shifting wind speed one month earlier.

The urban street segment analysis chapter of the Highway Capacity Manual 2010 provides a methodology for evaluating automobile performance on street segments within an urban roadway network （TrB, 2010）. The methodology involves applying a platoon dispersion model to predict platoon arrival profiles at a downstream signalized intersection; using the predicted arrival flow profiles to compute the proportion of vehicle arrivals on green, and subsequently compute the control delay, average travel speed and level of service （LOS） of the segment. The predictive ability of the HCM 2010 platoon dispersion model has not been independently evaluated using field data. This paper, therefore, uses field data to evaluate the performance of the HCM 2010 platoon dispersion model under friction and no friction traffic conditions. The traffic friction conditions include pedestrian and vehicular interactions on urban collector street segments and the presence of trucks within the traffic stream on principal urban arterial segments. Based on the results obtained, the HCM 2010 platoon dispersion model performs relatively well in predicting platoon arrival profiles on urban street segments with no friction traffic conditions. The results, however, show the model＇s performance is limited on urban street segments with pedestrian and truck friction conditions.

In this paper, we review recent results on hybrid silicon mode-locked lasers with a focus on low phase noise optical pulse generation. Taking a high level design approach to lowering phase noise, we show the need for long on-chip optical delay lines for mode-locked lasers to reach and overcome material limits. Key results include demonstration of the longest （cavity length 9 cm） integrated on-chip mode locked laser, 14 dB reduction of Lorentzian noise on a 20 GHz radio-frequency （rF） signal, and greater than 55 dB optical supermode noise suppres- sion using harmonically mode locked long cavity laser, 10 GHz passively mode locked laser with 15 kHz linewidth using on-chip all optical feedback stabilization.

AIM To assess the value of magnetic resonance elastography (MrE) in detecting advanced fibrosis/cirrhosis in autoimmune hepatitis (AIH). METHODS In this retrospective study, 36 patients (19 treated and 17 untreated) with histologically confirmed AIH and liver biopsy performed within 3 mo of MrE were identified at a tertiary care referral center. Liver stiffness (LS) with MrE was calculated by a radiologist, and inflammation grade and fibrosis stage in liver biopsy was assessed by a pathologist in a blinded fashion. Two radiologists evaluated morphological features of cirrhosis on conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MrI). Accuracy of MrE was compared to laboratory markers and MrI for detection of advanced fibrosis/cirrhosis. rESULTS Liver fibrosis stages of 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 were present in 4, 6, 7, 6 and 13 patients respectively. There were no significant differences in distribution of fibrosis stage and inflammation grade between treated and untreated patient groups. LS with MrE demonstrated stronger correlation with liver fibrosis stage in comparison to laboratory markers for chronic liver disease (r = 0.88 vs -0.48-0.70). A trend of decreased mean LS in treated patients compared to untreated patients was observed (3.7 kPa vs 3.84 kPa) but was not statistically significant. MrE had an accuracy/sensitivity/specificity/positive predictive value/negative predictive value of 0.97/90%/100%/100%/90% and 0.98/92.3%/96%/92.3%/96% for detection of advanced fibrosis and cirrhosis, respectively. The performance of MrE was significantly better than laboratory tests for detection of advanced fibrosis (0.97 vs 0.53-0.80, p rrhosis (0.98 vs 0.58-0.80, p r than conventional MrI for diagnosis of cirrhosis (0.98 vs 0.78, p = 0.002). CONCLUSION MrE is a promising modality for detection of advanced fibrosis and cirrhosis in patients with AIH with superior diagnostic accuracy compared to laboratory assessment and MrI.

In this Paper,the stochastic layer of Duffing's equation hosed on the chosen resonance is investigated.A general method is provided for studying the stochastic layer near the assigned resonant orbit. Several approximate critical conditions are given for the theoretical predictions of that stochastic layer. For non-dissipative Duffing's equation, two critical conditions are obtained when its global stochastic layer occurs and vanishes for the given resonance. In addition, a limit critical condition has been presented when all Possible resonances exist risible in the stochastic *** results are compared with the critical conditions resulting from both Chirikov overlap method and renormalization techniques. Finally, using the cirtical conditions, numerical simulations are Performed to check our theoretical predictions of the stochastic layer based on the given resonance.
