BACKGROUND Hip resurfacing arthroplasty(HRA)is an alternative to total hip arthroplasty(THA)that is typically reserved for young active patients because it preserves ***,the benefits of HRA only hold true if conversion THA after failed HRA provides acceptable *** To compare patient reported outcomes for conversion THA after HRA failure to primary *** A retrospective review.of 36 patients(37 hips)that underw.nt conversion THA for failed HRA betw.en October 2006 and May 2019 by a single surgeon w.s *** reported outcomes[modified Harris Hip Score(mHHS),University of California Los Angeles(UCLA)activity score]w.re obtained via an email-based responder-anonymous *** w.re compared to normative data of a primary THA cohort w.th similar *** analysis w.s performed comparing outcomes of conversion THA for adverse local tissue reaction(ALTR)vs all other causes for *** The study group had a low.r mHHS than the control group(81.7±13.8 vs 90.2±11.6,Pw.ver,both groups had similar UCLA activity levels(7.5±2.3 vs 7.2±1.6,P=0.51).Patients that underw.nt conversion for non-ATLR causes had similar mHHS(85.2±11.5 vs 90.2±11.6,P=0.11)and higher UCLA activity levels(8.5±1.8 vs 7.2±1.6,Pw.nt conversion for ATLR had w.rse mHHS(77.1±14.5 vs 90.2±11.6,Pw.en compared to the control *** Patient outcomes equivalent to primary THA can be achieved follow.ng HRA conversion to ***,inferior outcomes w.re demonstrated for ALTR-related HRA *** selection and perhaps further studies examining alternative HRA bearing surfaces should be considered.

Precisely tailoring the surface electronic structures of electrocatalysts for optimal hydrogen binding energy and hydroxide binding energy is vital to improve the sluggish kinetics of hydrogen oxidation reac-tion(HOR).Herein,w. employ a partial desulfurization strategy to construct a homologous Ru-RuS_(2) heterostructure anchored on hollow.mesoporous carbon nanospheres(Ru-RuS_(2)@C).The disparate w.rk functions of the heterostructure contribute to the spontaneous formation of a unique built-in electric field,accelerating charge transfer and boosting conductivity of ***,Ru-RuS_(2)@C exhibits robust HOR electrocatalytic activity,achieving an exchange current density and mass activity as high as 3.56 mA cm^(-2) and 2.13 mAμg_(Ru)^(-1),*** those of state-of-the-art Pt/C and most contemporary Ru-based HOR ***,Ru-RuS_(2)@C can tolerate 1000 ppm of cO that lacks in Pt/*** analysis reveals that the directional electron transfer across Ru-RuS_(2) heterointerface induces local charge redistribution in interfacial region,w.ich optimizes and balances the adsorption energies of H and OH species,as w.ll as low.rs the energy barrier for w.ter formation,thereby promoting theHoR performance.

Tackling the problem of poor conductivity and catalytic stability of pristine metal-organic framew.rks(MOFs) is crucial to improve their oxygen evolution reaction(OER) ***,w. introduce a novel strategy of dysprosium(Dy) doping,using the unique 4f orbitals of this rare earth element to enhance electrocatalytic activity of *** method involves constructing Dy-doped Ni-MOF(Dy@Ni-MOF) nanoneedles on carbon cloth via a Dy-induced valence electronic perturbation *** and density functional theory(DFT) calculations reveal that Dy doping can effectively modify the electronic structure of the Ni active centers and foster a strong electronic interaction betw.en Ni and *** resulting benefits include a reduced w.rk function and a closer proximity of the d-band center to the Fermi level,w.ich is conducive to improving electrical conductivity and promoting the adsorption of oxygen-containing ***,the Dy@Ni-MOF achieves superhydrophilicity,ensuring effective electrolyte contact and thus accelerating reaction kinetics,Ex-situ and in-situ analysis results manifest Dy_(2)O_(3)/NiOOH as the actual active ***,Dy@Ni-MOF show. impressive OER performance,significantly surpassing ***,the overall w.ter splitting device w.th Dy@NiMOF as an anode delivers a low.cell voltage of 1.51 V at 10 mA cm^(-2) and demonstrates long-term stability for 100 h,positioning it as a promising substitute for precious metal catalysts.

Application of transition metal boride(TMB) catalysts tow.rds hydrolysis of NaBH_(4) holds great significance to help relieve the energy crisis. Herein, w. present a facile and versatile metal-organic framew.rk(MOF) assisted strategy to prepare Co_(2)B-CoPO_x w.th massive boron vacancies by introducing phytic acid(PA) cross-linked Co complexes that are acquired from reaction of PA and ZIF-67 into cobalt boride. The PA etching effectively breaks dow. the structure of ZIF-67 to create more vacancies, favoring the maximal exposure of active sites and elevation of catalytic activity. Experimental results demonstrate a drastic electronic interaction betw.en Co and the dopant phosphorous(P), thereby the robustly electronegative P induces electron redistribution around the metal species, w.ich facilitates the dissociation of B-H bond and the adsorption of H_(2)O molecules. The vacancy-rich Co_(2)B-CoPO_x catalyst exhibits scalable performance, characterized by a high hydrogen generation rate(HGR) of 7716.7 m L min^(-1)g^(-1) and a low.activation energy(Ea) of 44.9 k J/mol, rivaling state-of-the-art catalysts. This w.rk provides valuable insights for the development of advanced catalysts through P doping and boron vacancy engineering and the design of efficient and sustainable energy conversion systems.

Morphometric studies of 3D micro CT-scanned images can provide insights into the evolution of the brain and sensory structures but such data are still scarce for the most diverse mammalian order of *** review.d and new.data,w. tested for convergence to extreme aridity and high elevation in the sensory and brain morphology of rodents,from morphometric data from micro-CT X-ray scans of 174 crania of 16 species of three distantly re-lated African murid(soft-furred mice,Praomyini,laminate-toothed rats,Otomyini,and gerbils,Gerbillinae)clades and one North American cricetid(deer mice and w.ite-footed mice,Peromyscus)*** studies demon-strated convergent evolution acting on the oval w.ndow.area of the cochlea(enlarged in extremely arid-adapted species of Otomyini and Gerbillinae)and on endocranial volume(reduced in high elevation taxa of Otomyini and Peromyscus).How.ver,contrary to our predictions,w. did notfind evidence of convergence in brain struc-ture to aridity,or in the olfactory/respiratory system(turbinate bones)to high *** structure differed,particularly in the petrosal lobules of the cerebellum and the olfactory bulbs,betw.en Otomyini and Gerbillinae,w.th extreme arid-adapted species in each clade being highly divergent(not convergent)from other species in the same *** observed greater“packing”of the maxillary turbinate bones,w.ich have important respiratory functions,in Peromyscus mice from high and low.elevations compared to the high-elevation African Praomyini,but more complex patterns w.thin Peromyscus,probably related to trade-offs in respiratory physiology and heat exchange in the nasal epithelium associated w.th high-elevation adaptation.

Cereal is an essential source of calories and protein for the global *** predicting cereal quality before harvest is highly desirable in order to optimise management for farmers,grading harvest and categorised storage for enterprises,future trading prices,and policy *** use of remote sensing data w.th extensive spatial coverage demonstrates some potential in predicting crop quality *** studies have also proposed models and methods for predicting such traits based on multiplatform remote sensing *** this paper,the key quality traits that are of interest to producers and consumers are *** literature related to grain quality prediction w.s analyzed in detail,and a review.w.s conducted on remote sensing platforms,commonly used methods,potential gaps,and future trends in crop quality *** review.recommends new.research directions that go beyond the traditional methods and discusses grain quality retrieval and the associated challenges from the perspective of remote sensing data.
