Some more new sulfur compounds bearing heterocyclic systems mainly 2-thioxo-1,3,4-thiadiazinone derivatives 2-7 and 3-thioxo-1,2,4-triazole derivatives 9 have been synthetic via alkylation, acylation and condensation of dithioic formic acid hydrazide 1 through ring closure reactions with α,β-bi functional groups compounds. Most of the obtained target showed a highly activity towards some microbial in compare with two references antibiotics, Pipercillin and Mycostatine. The structures of the products have been established from their elemental and spectral analysis.

Scrap vulcanized rubber is amongst a bigger waste polymers. It does not decompose easily owing to its cross linked structure. Modification of scrap tires powder by the grafting with 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid (AMPS) is described. The grafting is achieved through free radical initiation. The effects of different amount of monomer and initiator were examined. also the influence of reaction time and temperature were investigated. The grafted waste rubber was characterized by FT/IR, SEM and DSC measurements. The proposed mechanism of the grafting reaction is discussed. From DSC and SEM studies of WR-g-AMPS compared with PAMPS and WR, the results show that the particle size and crystallinity were enhanced for the grafted copolymers. The obtained modified scraped tires will used as an ion exchanger for the future applications.

The study investigates school travel to and from schools as perceived by parents in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Far fewer children are cycling or walking to school, and more and more are being driven to school by car. Traffic conditions, environmental factors, distance to school, road’s infrastructures, walking or biking with groups, schools efforts to educate children about active travel, and preferences of parents to accompany children to school were significantly perceived as important. The absence of active travel culture in the community was seen as a significant factor. Parent’s gender, child’s gender, child’s grade level, number of cars owned by the family, nationality and number of children were significantly associated with parents’ decisions to allow active travel to school. Results show that Abu Dhabi must establish aggressive strategic plans to promote active-commuting to school as the main mode of transportation. Current conditions in Abu Dhabi City are not conducive to active travel to school.

与根际温度为23℃下生长的小麦相比,根际温度为3℃条件下生长的小麦地上部分及根系干物质重量明显下降,叶面积亦大大减小.上述下降倾向与较低的CO_2同化率有关,而较低的同化率则与叶片传导力及叶片的CO_2浓度较低有关,同时也与较高的负水势有关.较低的CO_2同化率亦与植株内高淀粉含量和可溶性全糖含量有关,与较低的光合产物运转量及较小的库容有关.叶绿素含量不受根际温度变化的影响,根际温度为3℃的小麦的水分利用率是根际温度为23℃的1.5倍.

Prevalence and outcome of acute kidney injury,as defined by the new Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes guideline,in very low birth weight infants

AIMTo evaluate the prevalence, risk factors and outcome of acute kidney injury （AKI） in very low birth weight （VLBW） infants. METHODSIn this retrospective study of VLBW infants, we analyzed the prevalence of AKI, as defined by changes in serum creatinine and urine output, associated risk factors and *** total of 293 VLBW infants （mean gestational age 28.7 wk） were included, of whom 109 weighed less than 1000 g at birth. The overall prevalence of AKI was 11.6% （22% in infants with a birth weight under 1000 g and 5.4% those heavier）. A total of 19 （55%） affected infants died, with a mortality rate of 58% in infant less than 1000 g and 50% in those heavier. After adjusting for confounding variables, only necrotizing enterocolitis （NEC） remained associated with AKI, with odds ratio of 4.9 （95%CI： 1.9-18.6）. Blood pressure and glomerular filtration rate （GFR） were not different between affected infants and the others upon discharge from hospital. A normal GFR was documented in all affected infants at one year of *** Using Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes defnition of AKI, it occurred in over 10% of VLBW infants, more commonly in infants with lower birth weight. NEC was an independent associated risk factor. Renal function, as defined by GFR, was normal in all surviving affected infants 10 to 12 mo later.

Essential oils(EOs)are more complex and comprise a number of volatile and natural bioactive compounds,which often used in food industries as the best *** review focuses on the impact of EOs and the roles of their major components in food manufacturing as natural preservatives with the related mechanisms of *** addition,the major bioactive molecules of different types of EOs and their pharmacological activities such as antioxidant,antifungal and antimicrobial effects on crop protection were also *** major compounds of EOs represent potential antioxidant,antimicrobial and antifungal activities through various *** types of EOs such as tea tree oil,lemon oil,clove oil,cinnamon oil and thyme oil from various traditional plants,have significantly showed better antimicrobial and antioxidant activities,and also effectively increased the shelf lives of the cereal products and increased the quality of food *** major groups of EOs such as terpenes and aromatic volatile compounds,play a key role in food safety without affecting the *** to their various activities including antioxidant and antimicrobial activities,EOs could be used as alternative preservatives to increase the shelf lives of cereals and crops.

As Petra is increasingly becoming a major tourism destination in Jordan, this underlies not only challenges to conserve the habitats and species in Petra but also offers great opportunities to promote academic research and investigation, demonstrate sustainable development and initiation of environmentally sound development and nature based tourism. This investigation is based on both desktop studies and field missions. The desktop part is relied on reviewing various studies and reports that highlighting natural resources in the area. Two field missions were conducted aiming to document various information from related authorities and institutions operating in Petra and also to undertake ground truthing of habitats and species information. The missions also included interviews with Park staff, representatives from ongoing projects and initiatives in Petra (Seyaha-USAID) and many locals belonging to various tribes in Wadi Musa and The Bdul. The study presents a synthesis to findings from these studies and visits. Broadly, the park can be zoned into three mega zones: 1) Wadi Arabah and the steep gorges to the west including the Artemisia and annual grasses steppe to the west, 2) Mountainous ridges and rocky slopes of the Mediterranean region located almost centrally in the park and at the southern limit and part of the eastern borders and 3) Central basin and steep limestone scarps and weathered sandstone. Based on lists of key and indicator species, some key/sensitive sites of conservation value have been suggested. Aspects of grazing, agricultural activities, tourism and water resources and their implications on management schemes have been discussed.

A powerful non-destructive testing (NDT) technique is adopted to study the quality of RHA brick-1 and RHA brick-2. In that case, rice husk ash has been utilized for the preparation of bricks in full replacement of clay. In these studies, homogeneity of elemental distribution, water absorption and size and shape of the pores have been observed. From the studies, it was observed that elemental distribution is very good at various level, large number of porosity is presented with little bit size, initial rate of absorption (IRA) due to first five minutes immersion of water is higher compared to other immersion time (>5 minute), incremental water intrusion area increases very slowly with the increasing immersion time and the water absorption for RHA brick-2 becomes saturated very early than that of the RHA brick-1.

Background: Basal cell carcinoma is the most common malignancies of the skin. Numerous modalities of treatment are available. Podophyllin is an antimitotic and caustic agent that has been used in treatment of genital warts. Objective: To test the effectiveness and safety of topical 25% podophyllin in treatment of basal cell carcinoma. Patients and Methods: Thirty eight patients with basal cell carcinoma enrolled in this open labeled interventional study that had been enrolled in Department of Dermatology-Baghdad Teaching Hospital, Baghdad, from January 2010 to October 2011. History and physical examination was performed to all patients regarding all demographics detail related to the disease. Exclusion criteria: were pregnancy, recurrent tumors, aggressive deep subtypes, morpheaic type, and size more than 2 cm2 in diameter. Biopsies for all patients were done for histopathological examination at the first visit, and after clinical cure of the lesions. Lesions were treated with 25% topical podophyllin solution once weekly for 6 weeks. Follow up after clinical cured was done every 3 months up to 18 months to recording any sign and symptom of recurrent. Results: Thirty five patients with basal cell carcinoma completed the study: 28 (80%) males and 7(20%) females with males to females ratio 4:1, their ages ranged from 30 - 87 (64.114 ± 12.68) years, and the duration of the disease ranged from 2 months to 30 years (6.88. ± 4.83) years. The size of lesions ranged from 0.8 - 1.9 (1.454 ± 0.239) cm. The total podophyllin applications number ranged from 2 - 6 (4.65 ± 1.055) sessions. The total numbers of treated lesions were 100 lesions: 64 (64%) nodular, 31(31%) pigmented, 3(3%) Basosquamous, and 2 (2%) superficial. Ninety six (96%) lesions in 32 patients showed complete cure with 2 - 6 sessions, while 4 lesions in 3 patients showed partial response with 6 sessions. Biopsy from 21 cured lesions in 21 patients showed complete clearness apart from one with residual malignant
