The practical application of micro-alloying Zn–Mg alloys is limited due to their poor mechanical properties and evident strain softening behavior. Therefore, this paper proposed the utilization of ECAP plus rolling processing as an innovative approach to potentially address these limitations. Herein, effects of ECAP and rolling processing on the microstructures, mechanical properties and strain softening behavior were investigated. It was found that the grain refinement achieved through 1-pass ECAP and 8-pass ECAP processing differed significantly, and subsequent rolling processing can further regulate grain size and dislocation distribution. The 1-pass ECAP plus cold rolling(1p-CR), 1-pass ECAP plus hot-cold rolling(1p-HC), and 8-pass ECAP plus hot-cold rolling(8p-HC) processed alloys exhibited heterostructure characterized by fine grains encircling coarse grains. Additionally, regions with high density dislocations were uniformly distributed alongside regions with low density dislocations. This unique microstructure promoted the accumulation and interaction of dislocation during deformation, resulting in the inhibition of strain softening behavior while maintaining high strength and high elongation. Therefore, the 1p-CR, 1p-HC, and 8p-HC alloys demonstrated excellent formability and mechanical stability while meeting the required mechanical properties for implant materials, which highlight their significant potential for practical applications.

The recent development of high-strength magnesium alloys is focused on the role of the strengthening phases with a novel long-period stacking-ordered (LPSO) structure. This review detailed the main factors influencing the formation of LPSO phases, including alloying ele-ments, preparation methods, and heat treatments. Furthermore, process control in structure types, formation and transformation behavior, strengthening and toughening mechanisms of the LPSO phase were discussed. Finally, the current problems and development trends of high-strength Mg-Zn-RE alloys were also put forward.

A dispersion-strengthened copper alloy with 1 wt% TiC for commercial electrical-contact wires was prepared by in-situ reaction casting, grain-ultrafining by equal-channel angular pressing(ECAP) and subsequent annealing with aim to obtain excellent comprehensive performance. The results showed that fine TiC particles were in-situ synthesized in the as-cast Cu matrix and aggregated in clusters, and thus mechanical properties of the as-cast alloy deemed insufficient. Continued ECAP at 473 K significantly refined the grains of the as-cast alloy and improved the distribution of TiC particles. Due to multiple strengthening mechanisms, the ECAP-processed alloys maintained good conductivity with obviously enhanced tensile strength and hardness values. After postECAP annealing, the elongation and conductivity of the fine-grained copper alloy increased with the adequate tensile strength. The novel combined process endows the alloy appropriate performance to serve current highfrequency electrification railway systems.

Formation Behavior of 14H Long Period Stacking Ordered Structure in Mg–Y–Zn Cast Alloys with Different α-Mg Fractions

Phase compositions and microstructure evolutions of three Mg-Y-Zn cast alloys during isothermal annealing at 773 K have been systematically investigated to clarify the formation behavior of 14 H long period stacking ordered（LPSO） structure from α-Mg *** annealed microstructure characteristics indicate that the 18 R phase is thermal stable in Mg86Y8Zn6 alloy where 18 R serves as matrix,and 14 H lamellar phase only forms within tiny α-Mg slices（less than 1% for volume fraction）.The α-Mg grains in Mg88Y8Zn4 and Mg89Y8Zn3 alloys exhibit cellular shape,and 14 H phase forms and develops into lamellar shape in these cellular grains after *** results suggest that the presence of α-Mg grains is a requirement for the generation of 14 H *** nucleation and growth rates of 14 H lamellas are accelerated in α-Mg grains with higher concentrations of stacking faults and solute ***,the 14 H lamellas are parallel to adjacent 18 R plates in Mg86Y8Zn6 alloy,but the 14 H phase precipitated in cellularα-Mg grains of Mg88Y8Zn4 and Mg89Y8Zn3 alloys exhibits random orientation relationship with surrounding 18 R phase,indicating that the orientation relationship between 14 H and 18 R phases depends on the relationship between α-Mg grains and 18 R phase.

Mg-Y-Zn alloys with long period stacking ordered(LPSO)structure have received much attention recently and exhibit great potential in applications such as automotive,aerospace and in bio-medical *** paper aimed to investigate the effect of different phase constitution of LPSO structures on corrosion rate of bio-medical Mg-Y-Zn *** results showed that as-cast Mg98.5Y1Zn0.5 alloys containing only 18R structure exhibited the highest corrosion resistance with the corrosion rate of 2.78 mm/*** precipitation of 14H lamellas within a-Mg grains during solid solution treatment introduced the crystallographic orientation corrosion by accelerating micro-galvanic *** increase of 18R/14H interfaces deteriorated the corrosion resistance,and the grain boundaries also suffered from severe electrochemical *** work suggested that Mg-Y-Zn alloys with single LPSO structure(either 18R or 14H)exhibited better corrosion resistance than alloys with co-existence 18R and I4H LPSO structures.

The influence of Si substitution on soft magnetic properties and crystallization behavior in Fe_(83)B_(10)C_(6-x)Si_xCu_1 alloy system

In this study, the soft magnetic properties and crystallization behavior of Fes3B10C6-xSixCul （x=0-4） nanocrystalline alloys prepared by annealing the melt-spun amorphous ribbons have been investigated. It is found that in the Fe83B10C6-xSixCU1 alloy system, the coercivity （Hc） decreases slightly with increasing Si addition and exhibits a minimum value with composition of x = 2, while the effective permeability （Ue） shows an opposite variation trend. The saturation magnetic flux density （Bs） shows a slightly decreasing trend owing to the decreasing volume fraction of nanocrystalline phase. The Fe83B10CaSi2Cu1 nanocrystalline alloy exhibits excellent soft magnetic properties with a high Bs of 1.78 T, high ue of 13 600 and low Hc of 4 A/m.

Formation of super-hydrophobic and corrosion-resistant coatings can provide significant corrosion protection to magnesium ***,it remains a grand challenge to produce such coatings for magnesium-lithium alloys due to their high chemical ***,a one-step hydrothermal processing was developed using a stearic-acid-based precursor medium,which enables the hydrothermal conversion and the formation of low surface energy materials concurrently to produce the super-hydrophobic and corrosion-resistant *** multiscale microstructures with nanoscale stacks and microscale spheres on the surface,as well as the through-thickness stearates,lead to the super-hydrophobicity and excellent corrosion resistance of the obtained coating.

Hydrothermal synthesis and corrosion behavior of the protective coating on Mg-2Zn-Mn-Ca-Ce alloy

Protective coatings were synthesized on the Mg-2Zn-Mn-Ca-CeMg alloy through the hydrothermal method with de-ionized water as the reagent. The coatings were composed of Mg hydroxide, generally uniform and *** evolution tests and electrochemical tests in the Hanks’ solution demonstrated that the Mg（OH）;coatings effectively decreased the bio-degradation rate of the Mg alloy substrate. Microstructure observation showed that the coating formation on the secondary phases was more difficult than that on the α-Mg matrix,which led to micro cracks and pores on the secondary phases after drying. Over synthesizing time, the coating layer on secondary phases gradually becomes more compact and uniform. Meanwhile, owing to the thicker and more compact coatings, the corrosion resistance and protective efficiency were significantly improved with longer synthesizing time as well.

Effect of Multi-Pass Equal Channel Angular Pressing on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of a Heterogeneous Mg_(88)Y_8Zn_4 Alloy

The microstructure evolutions and mechanical properties of a heterogeneous Mg88Y8Zn4（in at.%） alloy during multi-pass equal channel angular pressing（ECAP） were systematically investigated in this *** results show that four phases,i.e.α-Mg,18 R long period stacking ordered（LPSO） phase,Mg24Y5 and Y-rich phase,are present in cast *** ECAP,dynamic recrystallization（DRX） occurs and the diameter of DRXedα-Mg grains decreases to 0.8 μ***,precipitation of lamellar 14 H LPSO structure is developed withinα-Mg *** the refinement of α-Mg grains and precipitation of 14 H LPSO contribute to the increase in micro-hardness from 98 HV to 135 HV for α-*** addition,a simplified model describing the evolution of 18 R LPSO phase is established,which illustrates that 18 R undergoes a four-step morphological evolution with increasing strains during ECAP,*** lath → bent lath → cracked lath → smaller *** test results indicate that the alloy has been markedly strengthened after multi-pass ECAP,and the main reason for the significantly enhanced mechanical properties could be ascribed to the DRXed α-Mg grains,newly precipitated 14 H lamellas,18 R kinking and refined 18 R particles.

Fabrication of cellular Zn–Mg alloy foam by gas release reaction via powder metallurgical approach

By using CaCO3 as the ＂blowing agent＂, Zn–（10–50） wt% Mg alloy foams with close-pore structure were fabricated by the powder metallurgical route. The key of successful foaming is Mg addition and the proper sintering treatment, which lead to the formation of intermetallic compounds and can make the gas release reaction between Mg melt and CaCO3 happen the during foaming process.
