The family Ajellomycetaceae(Onygenales)includes mammal-associated pathogens within the genera Blastomyces,Emmonsia,Histoplasma and Paracoccidioides,as well as the recently described genera,Emergomyces that causes disease in immunocompromised hosts,and Emmonsiellopsis,known only from *** further assess the phylogenetic relationships among and between members of these genera and several previously undescribed species,we sequenced and analyzed the DNA-directed RNA polymerase II(rPB2),translation elongation factor 3-a(TEf3),b-tubulin(TUB2),28s large subunit rDNA(LsU)and the internal transcribed spacer regions(ITs)in 68 strains,in addition to morphological and physiological *** better understand the thermal dimorphism among these fungi,the dynamic process of transformation from mycelial to yeast-like or adiaspore-like forms was also assessed over a range of temperatures(6–42C).Molecular data resolved the relationships and recognized five major well-supported lineages that correspond largely to the genus ***,typified by Emmonsia parva,is a synonym of Blastomyces that also accommodates Blastomyces helicus.f.rmerly Emmonsia helica).Emmonsia crescens is phylogenetically distinct,and found closely related to a single strain from soil without known *** silverae,Emergomyces canadensis,Emergomyces europaeus and Emmonsia sola are newly *** all of the taxa are associated with human and animal *** crescens,*** and *** are prevalently associated with pulmonary disease in humans or *** helicus,***,Emergomyces africanus,***,***,*** and ***(formerly Emmonsia pasteuriana)are predominantly found in human hosts with immune disorders;no animal hosts are known for these species except ***.

Creation and Analysis of Earth’s surface Roughness Maps.f.om Airborne LiDAR Measurements in Downtown Urban Landscape

The Earth’s surface roughness constitutes an important parameter in terrain analysis.f.r studying different environmental and engineering problems. Authors gave different definitions and measures.f.r the earth’s surface roughness that usually depend on exploitation of digital elevation data for its reliable determination. This research aimed at exploring the different approaches.f.r defining and extraction of the Earth’s surface roughness.f.om Airborne LiDAR Measurements. It also aimed at evaluating the effects of the window size of the standard deviation filter on the created roughness maps in downtown landscapes using three known approaches namely;standard deviation filtering of the Digital Elevation Model (DEM), standard deviation filtering of the slope gradient model and standard deviation filtering of the profile curvature model. In this context, different roughness maps have been created from Airborne LiDAR measurements of the City of Toronto, Canada using the three filtering approaches with varying window sizes. Visual analysis has shown color tones of small roughness values with smooth textures dominate the roughness maps.f.om small window sizes of the standard deviation filter, however, increasing the window sizes has produced wider variations of the color tones and rougher texture roughness maps. The standard deviations and ranges of the roughness maps.f.om LiDAR DEM have increased due to increasing the filter window size while the skewness and kurtosis have decreased due to increasing the window size, indicating that the roughness maps.f.om larger window sizes are statistically more symmetrical and more consistent. Thus, kurtosis has decreased by 53% and 82% due to increasing the window size to 7 × 7 and 15 × 15 respectively. The standard deviations of the roughness maps.f.om the slope gradient model have increased due to increasing the window size till 15 × 15 while they have decreased with more increases. Even when damaged by injury or disease bone tissue has the remarkable ability to *** this process is limited by large size bone defects,tissue engineering is responsible for restoring,maintaining or improving tissue *** are support structures,designed to be implanted in the damaged site,supporting mechanical loads and protecting the regenerating bone *** this paper,3D-printed PLA scaffolds with three different porosity values and two different geometries were experimentally and numerically ***-CT analysis showed that fused filament fabrication can be used to produce scaffolds with the desired porosity and 100%of interconnected *** monotonical compression,scaffolds apparent compressive modulus increased from 89 to 918 MPa,while yield stress increased from 2.9 to 27.5 MPa as porosity decreased from 70 to 30%.Open porosity decreased up to 8%on aligned scaffolds and 14%on staggered scaffolds,after compression,while scaffold’s surface-to-volume ratio highest reduction(7.48 to 4.55 mm−1)was obtained with aligned low porosity ***-CT volume reconstruction allowed for scaffold simplified numerical models to be built and *** agreement was.f.und when predicting scaffold’s apparent compressive ***,it can be concluded that 3D printing is a viable scaffold manufacturing technique for trabecular bone replacement.

The relationship between controllability, optimal testing resource allocation, and incubation-latent period mismatch as revealed by COVID-19

The severe shortfall in testing supplies during the initial COVID-19 outbreak and ensuing struggle to manage the pandemic have affirmed the critical importance of optimal supplyconstrained resource allocation strategies.f.r controlling novel disease *** address the challenge of constrained resource optimization for managing diseases with complications like pre-and asymptomatic transmission,we develop an integro partial differential equation compartmental disease model which incorporates realistic latent,incubation,and infectious period distributions along with limited testing supplies.f.r identifying and quarantining infected *** model overcomes the limitations of typical ordinary differential equation compartmental models by decoupling symptom status.f.om model compartments to allow a more realistic representation of symptom onset and presymptomatic *** analyze the influence of these realistic features on disease controllability,we find optimal strategies.f.r reducing total infection sizes that allocate limited testing resources between‘clinical’testing,which targets symptomatic individuals,and‘non-clinical’testing,which targets non-symptomatic *** apply our model not only to the original,delta,and omicron COVID-19 variants,but also to generically parameterized disease systems with varying mismatches between latent and incubation period distributions,which permit varying degrees of presymptomatic transmission or symptom onset before *** find that factors that decrease controllability generally call for reduced levels of non-clinical testing in optimal strategies,while the relationship between incubation-latent mismatch,controllability,and optimal strategies is *** particular,though greater degrees of presymptomatic transmission reduce disease controllability,they may increase or decrease the role of nonclinical testing in optimal strategies depending on other disease factors like transmissibility

Collisionless shocks are ubiquitous in the Universe and are held responsible for the production of nonthermal particles and high-energy *** the absence of particle collisions in the system,theory shows that the interaction of an expanding plasma with a pre-existing electromagnetic structure(as in our case)is able to induce energy dissipation and allow shock *** formation can alternatively take place when two plasmas interact,through microscopic instabilities inducing electromagnetic fields that are able in turn to mediate energy dissipation and shock *** our platform in which we couple a rapidly expanding plasma induced by high-power lasers(JLf/Titan at LLNL and LULI2000)with high-strength magnetic fields,we have investigated the generation of a magnetized collisionless shock and the associated particle *** have characterized the shock as being collisionless and *** report here on measurements of the plasma density and temperature,the electromagnetic field structures,and the particle energization in the experiments,under various conditions of ambient plasma and magnetic *** have also modeled the formation of the shocks using macroscopic hydrodynamic simulations and the associated particle acceleration using kinetic particle-in-cell *** a companion paper to Yao et al.[***.17,1177–1182(2021)],here we show additional results of the experiments and simulations,providing more information to allow their reproduction and to demonstrate the robustness of our interpretation of the proton energization mechanism as being shock surfing acceleration.

Effects of External stresses on the Carbide Precipitation in Bainite Transformation

TEM observation of carbide precipitates in bainite has been carried out for steel 40CMD8. specimens transformed at 350 ℃ and 450 ℃ without external stress contain respectively the lower and the upper bainite. No fundamental change in carbide precipitation is observed in specimen transformed at 350 ℃ under stress of 128 MPa. The very fine cementite is.f.und precipitated within the upper bainite plates in specimen transformed at 450 ℃ under stress of 144 MPa, which can be explained as the result of the difficulty of carbon diffusing out of the massive ferrite plate within a much shortened transformation time due to the external stress. for all the specimens examined, Bagaryatskii orientation relationship is.f.und existing between the carbides and ferrite matrix.

4-Amino-1,8-naphthalimide based fluorescent photoinduced electron transfer (PET) pH sensors as liposomal cellular imaging agents: The effect of substituent patterns on PET directional quenching

four new fluorescent sensors(1-4)based on the 4-amino-1,8-naphthalimide fluorophores(Naps)have been synthesized based on the classical fluorophore-spacer-receptor *** four compounds all gave rise to emission bands centred at ca.535 nm,which were found to be highly pH dependent,the emission being‘switched on’in acidic media,while being quenched due to PET from the amino moieties to the excited state of the Nap at more alkaline *** luminescent pH dependence for these probes was.f.und to be highly dependent on the substitution on the imide site,as well as the polyamine chain attached to the position 4-amino *** the case of sensor 2 the presence of the 4-amino-aniline dominated the pH dependent ***,at higher pH,PET quenching was also found to occur from the polyamine ***,2 is better described as a receptor1-spacer1-fluorophore-spacer2-receptor2 system,where the dominant PET process is due to(normally less.f.vourable)‘directional’PET quenching from the 4-amino-aniline unit to the Nap *** trends and pH fluorescence dependences were also seen for 3 and *** compounds were also tested for their imaging potential and toxicity against HeLa cells(using DRAQ5 as nuclear stain which does now show pH dependent changes in acidic and neutral pH)and the results demonstrated that these compounds have reduced cellular viability at moderately high concentrations(with IC50 values between ca.8-30μmol?L^?1),but were found to be suitable for intracellular pH determination at 1μmol?L^?1 concentrations,where no real toxicity was *** allowed us to employ these as lysosomal probes at sub-toxic concentrations,where the Nap based emission was.f.und to be pH depended,mirroring that seen in aqueous solution for 1-4,with the main fluorescence changes occurring within acidic to neutral pH.
