The effects of the metal ratio of NiCu catalysts on the low-temperature hydrodeoxygenation(HDO)of anisole were assessed on a neutral siO_(2) and an acidicγ-Al_(2)O_(3) *** activity of siO_(2)-supported catalysts increases with the Ni content in the NiCu phase,related to Ni’s hydrogenation *** contrast,on aγ-Al_(2)O_(3) support,the activity decreases with the Ni ***,Al_(2)O_(3)-supported catalysts,exhibiting a smaller NiCu alloy particle size,are more active than siO_(2)-supported *** terms of selectivity,siO_(2)-supported catalysts mainly hydrogenate anisole to methoxycyclohexane,while,particularly at higher conversions,γ-Al_(2)O_(3)-supported catalysts are able to further convert methoxycyclohexane to cyclohexane,demonstrating the importance of acid sites.f.r low-temperature *** Ni/Cu ratio also steers the selectivity,but not the catalyst *** phenomena are only support dependent:while on siO_(2)-supported catalysts,active site sintering occurs,attributed to weak stabilization of metal particles by the support,acid catalyzed coking is the main cause of deactivation on theγ-Al_(2)O_(3)-supported catalysts.

AIM: To evaluate the tissular expression of Androgen (A), Estrogen (E) and Progesterone (Pg) receptors, and Apolipoprotein D (ApoD), in liver tumors.f.om resected hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cases in order to assess their possible relationship to prognosis. METHODs: We performed an immunohistochemical study using tissue microarrays (containing more than 260 cancer specimens, from 31 HCC patients and controls) to determine the presence of specif ic antibodies against AR, ER, PgR and ApoD, correlating their findings with several clinico-pathological and biological variables. The staining results were categorized using a semi-quantitive score based on their intensity, and the percentage of immunostained cells was measured. REsULTs: A total of 21 liver tumors (67.7%) were positive for AR; 16 (51.6%) for ER; 26 (83.9%) for PgR and 12 (38.7%) stained for ApoD. We have found a wide variability in the immunostaining score values.f.r each protein, with a median (range) of 11.5 (11.5-229.5) for AR; 11.1 (8.5-65) for ER; 14.2 (4-61) for PgR; and 37.7 (13.8-81.1) for ApoD. A history of heavy ethanol consumption, correlated positively with AR and PgR and negatively with ER status. HCV chronic infection also correlated positively with AR and PgR status. However, the presence of ApoD immunostaining did not correlate with any of these variables. Tumors with a positive immuno-staining for PgR showed a better prognosis. CONCLUsION: Our results indicate a moderate clinical value of the steroid receptor status in HCC, emphasizing the need to perform further studies in order to evaluate the possible role of new hormonal-based therapies.

Two low-lying unbound states in ^(16)C are investigated by deuteron inelastic scattering in inverse *** the 2^(-) state at 5.45 MeV previously measured in a 1n knockout reaction,a new resonant state at 6.89 MeV is observed for the first *** inelastic scattering angular distributions of these two states are well reproduced by the distorted-wave Born approximation(DWBA)calculation with an l=1 *** addition,the spinparities of the unbound states are discussed and tentatively assigned based on shell model calculations using the modified YsOX interaction.

Myrtus communis L. is a spontaneous aromatic plant typical of the Mediterranean area. Myrtle berries hydrodistilled products and ethanolic extracts are mainly used as.f.avouring agents and food supplements. This study evaluated the effect of long-term storage on the quality-related properties of myrtle berries. storage at 2 ~C for three months effbctively preserved myrtle berries quality, both in the chemical composition and external appearance. No symptoms of chilling injury and decay occurred during the first two months of storage, at the end of storage only the 1.3% of rotting was detected. Total anthocyanic content and anthocyanin glycosides diminished whereas the antioxidant capacity increased in all samples till the end of storage. The antioxidant properties of myrtle berries were not correlated with the anthocyanic fraction. The pH of myrtle berries decreased, while gluconic acid levels increased. The results reported in this paper showed that the storage at 2 ~C for three months appears to be an effective way to preserve myrtle berries quality. The changes in the chemical composition of the fruits subjected to storage had revealed the importance of gluconic acid and pH for myrtle quality assessment. These two parameters can be used as quality markers since a strong relationship has been found between myrtle decay and the changes in these parameters,

As-cast samples of the Al-3wt.%Ni-lwt.%Bi alloy resulting from the horizontal directional solidification process were subjected to the micro-abrasive wear *** effects of the solidification thermal and microstructural parameters,such as the growth and cooling rates and the cellular and primary dendritic spacings(VL and TR;λ1 and λc;respectively),were evaluated in the wear resistance of the investigated *** tribological parameters analyzed were the wear volume and rate(Vw and Rw).The solidification experiments and the wear tests were carried out by means of a water-cooled horizontal directional solidification device and a rotary-fixed ball wear machine,*** results show lower Vw and Rw values correspond to finer microstructures and the Vw dependence on λ1 is characterized by an experimental mathematical equation.A better distribution of Bi s.f. droplets and Al3Ni hard intermetallic particles is observed within the finer interdendritic region and,in consequence,the better wear resistance is achieved in as-cast samples with dendritic morphology rather than cellular morphology.A transition of wear mechanism from adhesive to abrasive is observed.

Cardiovascular magnetic resonance is a non-invasive imaging modality which is emerging as important tool for the investigation and management of pediatric cardiovascular disease. In this review we describe the key technical and practical differences between scanning children and adults, and highlight some important considerations that must be taken into account for this patient population. Using case examples commonly seen in clinical practice, we discuss the important clinical applications of cardiovascular magnetic resonance, and briefly highlight key future developments in this.f.eld.

Nowadays, while human requirements are extending, producing nanofibers and nanofiber based products are progressing rapidly. Nanofibers have received considerable study in recent years using various polymers and methods. PAN (Polyacrylonitryle) nanofibers have shown a great potential in producing nanofibers and nanofibre yarn as precursor polymers.f.r making high performance carbon fiber. There is a lack of information about yarn and woven fabrics made out of nanofibers. Current research is aiming to manufacture yarn using well-known electrospinning technique and converting it to woven fabric. A continuous yarn was produced by changing production parameters and using simultaneous twisting and collecting. Values of twist and rate of fiber collecting made it possible to prepare yarn from nanofibres. Consequently, the yarns were used for producing plain weave fabric manually. some characteristics of the yarn, such as diameter and its distribution along the yarn, specific density, thin and thick places were assessed using image processing technique. Also, characteristics of fabric appearances were investigated.

Background and Goals: Although health care quality improvement has traditionally involved extensive work with paper records, the adoption of health information technology has increased the use of electronic record and administrative systems. Despite these advances, quality improvement practitioners now and for the foreseeable future need guidance in defining populations of individuals.f.r study and in selecting and analyzing sample data from such populations. statistical data analysis in health care research often involves using samples to make inferences about populations. The investigator needs to consider the goals of the study, whether sampling is to be used, and the type of population being studied. While there are numerous sampling strategies designed to conserve resources and yield accurate results, one of these techniques—use of the finite population correction (fPC)—has received relatively little attention in health care sampling contexts. It is important for health care quality practitioners to be aware of sampling options that may increase accuracy and conserve resources. This article describes common sampling situations in which the issue of the finite population correction decision often arises. Methods: This article describes 3 relevant sampling situations that influence the design and analysis phases of a study and offers guidance for choosing the most effective and efficient design. situation 1: The study or activity involves taking a sample from a large finite target population for which enumerative inferences are needed. situation 2: The population is.f.nite and the study is enumerative. A complete enumerative count of “defects” in the process is needed so that remediation can occur. Here, statistical inference is unnecessary. situation 3: The target population is viewed as infinite;such populations are “conceptual populations” [1] or “processes”. The lowest addition of mercury (0.1 ug Hg 1-1) was used in CEEs.f.r research on mercury flux, speciation and budget. The removal behavior of mercury by phytoplankton in water columns of CEEs can be described by first order kinetic equations.f.r total and particulate mercury in the CEE spiked by mercury. The removal rate of mercury in water columns depends on the size and productivity of phytoplanton in a water column to which mercuric ions were added. A 4.4 day half-life time and a 2.8 day half-life time for total and particulate mercury respectively was obtained in diatom bloom. During microflagellate bloom a 30 day total mercury half-life time was estimated with increase of particulate mercury in the water column.
