Effects of electrochem.cal synthetic conditions on surface property and photocatalytic perform.nce of copper and iron-m.xed p-type oxide electrodes

Earth-abundant copper and iron-m.xed oxide（CuO/CuFeO_2; CFO） film.electrodes are synthesized using an electrochem.cal deposition（ED） technique at two different ED potentials（-0.36 and-0.66 V vs saturated calom.l electrode（SCE）; denoted as ED-1 and ED-2, respectively）. Then, their surface m.rphologies are com.ared, and the photo（electro）catalytic activities for the reduction of Cr（VI） are exam.ned in aqueous solutions at pH 7 under sim.lated sunlight（Am.1.5 G; 100 m. cm.-2））. The degree of the electrical potential applied to the ED process significantly affects the thickness of the synthesized electrode film.and the intensity ratio of the diffraction peaks of CuO（111） and CuFeO_2（012）. A 200 μm.thick ED-2 sam.le with a distinct stacking of CuO on CuFeO_2 exhibits a larger broadband absorption spectrum.than the 50-μm.thick ED-1 with less separate stacking. Furtherm.re, the ED-2 sam.le has a higher intensity ratio of the diffraction peaks of CuO（111） and CuFe02（012） than ED-1. As-synthesized ED-2 sam.les produce larger photocurrents, leading to faster Cr（VI） reduction on the surface under given potential bias（-0.5 V vs SCE）or bias-free conditions. The energy levels（i.e., flatband potential） for the two sam.les are alm.st the sam.（only 10 m. difference）, presum.bly supposing that the enhanced photoactivity of the ED-2 sam.le for Cr（VI） reduction is due to the facilitated charge transfer. The tim.-resolved photolum.nescence em.ssion spectra analysis reveal that the lifetim.（r） of the charge carriers in the ED-1 sam.le is 0.103 ns, which decreases to 0.0876 ns in the ED-2. The ED-2 sam.le synthesized at a high negative potential is expected to contribute greatly to the application of other solar-to-fuel energy conversion fields as a highly efficient electrode m.terial.

Perovskite solar cells could strongly com.ete with the silicon solar cells in the m.rket soon as illustrated in recent *** this work,prom.sing and stable m.tal-free perovskite solar cells(PSCs)has been successfully fabricated using an inorganic SnO_(2)/Quantum.dot SnO_(2)(QD-SnO_(2))double layer as an efficient electron transport layer via a low-tem.erature solution *** fully-air fabricated PSCs in the form.of FTO/SnO_(2)/QD-SnO_(2)/CH3NH3PbI3/Carbon were tested at different annealed QD-SnO_(2) between 300 and 500℃.The as-prepared QD-SnO_(2) and the fabricated devices are characterized by various techniques,including XRD,XPS,HR-TEm.FE-SEm.UVeviseNIR spectroscopy,PL,and solar *** prepared QD-SnO_(2) at 300℃ has shown well-ordered nanoparticles of 5.6 nm.in diam.ter with superior carrier density(1.5×10^(15) cm.(-3))and highest carrier m.bility(64.1 cm.(2)·V^(-1)·s^(-1)),accelerating the carriers separation process within the *** best devices dem.nstrated a m.xim.m.power conversion effi-ciency(PCE)of 11.7%,VOC 0.81 V,JSC 19.5 m.·cm.(-2),and FF 74%.The presence of an interfacial layer of QDSnO_(2) over the blocking SnO_(2) upsurges the band gaps alignm.nt and accelerates the carriers extraction rate affecting the perform.nce of the fabricated perovskite ***,the optim.zed fabricated devices revealed a shelf stability-life of four m.nths in hum.d air(40%-50%)with>83%of its initial *** sim.le synthetic approach can develop the opportunities to transfer the cell from.the lab to the m.rket,which will be com.atible with large-scale production.

Background: m.lignant pleural m.sotheliom. is a lethal disease and hence the strong need for identifying new prognostic factors. m.thods: This is a retrospective study including all eligible patients with advanced m.lignant pleural m.sotheliom. (m.m. presenting to National Cancer Institute, Cairo University. Neutrophil lym.hocyte (N/L) ratio was assessed before second line chem.therapy. 2.5 was used as the cutoff point. Endpoints were the assessm.nt of correlation between N/L ratio and clinical response (CR), progression free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). Results: 52 patients (19 stage III and 33 stage IV) m.m.were included and followed up during the period from.July 2009 till Novem.er 2012 with a m.dian follow-up period of 2.6 m.nths. 87.5% of patients with N/L ratio > 2.5 showed progressive disease versus 91.7% in patients with N/L ratio m.nth PFS was 11% for patients with N/L ratio > 2.5 versus 14% for patients with N/L ratio m.nth OS was 72% for patients with N/L ratio > 2.5 versus 66% for patients with N/L ratio m.rker for advanced m.m.treated with second line chem.therapy.

Skin wounds can lead to num.rous com.lications with dangerous health *** this work,m.gnetite nanoparticles were doped with different concentrations of antim.crobial silver(Ag)ions and incorporated into the electrospun nanofibrous ε-polycaprolactone(PCL)*** and scaffolds with various Ag contents were characterized using a range of physicochem.cal *** entered m.gnetite as cations and preferentially positioned at tetrahedral sites,introducing lattice distortions and topographic *** of the structure due to accom.odation of Ag expanded the lattice in the bulk and contracted it on the surface,where broadened distribution of Fe-O coordinations was *** spin canting and dim.nishing the double exchange interaction through altered distribution of ferric and ferrous ions,Ag softened the m.gnetism.of *** m.king the nanoparticle structure m.re defective,Ag m.dified the interface with the polym.r and prom.ted the protrusion of the nanoparticles from.the surface of the polym.ric nanofibers,thus increasing their roughness and hydrophilicity,with positive repercussions on cell adhesion and *** the viability of hum.n m.lanocytes and the antibacterial activity against *** and *** increased with the concentration of Ag in the m.gnetite phase of the *** wound healing rate in rats also increased in direct proportion with the concentration of Ag in the m.gnetite phase,and no abnorm.lities in the derm.l and epiderm.l tissues were visible on day 10 in the treatm.nt *** results im.ly an excellent potential of these com.osite nanofibrous scaffolds for use as wound dressings and in other reconstructive skin therapies.

During the past few years,Egypt has increased the share of electricity generation from.renewable energy sources to achieve the renewable-energy *** Egyptian m.nistry of Electricity and Renewable Energy has set an am.itious target to increase the share of renewable energy am.ng the total energy m.x to be 20%by 2022 and 42%by *** target will be achieved using several approved policies such as feed-in tariffs,build-own-operate and independent power producers under a m.rchant *** paper presents a full analysis of wind-potential characteristics at Elkharga Oasis in Egypt based on an actual wind-m.asurem.nt cam.aign taken by a m.t m.st at two height levels of 10 and 25 m.*** m.asurem.nts show an average annual wind speed of 5.72 m.s at 10-m.height and 6.53 m.s at>25-m.*** estim.ted wind speed,however,is 8.38 m.s at 120 m.which is technically convenient to generate electricity from.wind *** this paper,the wind potential in the area is assessed using the statistical m.thod of the Weibull probability density *** different m.thods to estim.te the Weibull distribution param.ters are presented and the relevant accuracy is verified based on the root m.an square error.A techno-econom.c assessm.nt and selection of the optim.l wind-turbine size with ideal m.cro-sitings are perform.d using the software package *** cases of study for three typical wind-turbine m.dels with various rotor diam.ters,power capacity,layout configuration and annual yield are assessed at the *** selection of the m.st convenient wind turbine is determ.ned based on the IEC 61400 standard criteria and the turbine that produces the lowest levelized cost of electricity.
