Crop Discrimination Using f.eld Hyper Spectral Remotely Sensed Data

Crop discrimination through satellite imagery is still problematic. Accuracy of.crop classif.cation f.r high spatial resolution satellite imagery in the intensively cultivated lands of.the Egyptian Nile delta is still low. Theref.re, the main objective of.this research is to determine the optimal hyperspectral wavebands in the spectral range of.(400 - 2500 nm) to discriminate between two winter crops (Wheat and Clover) and two summer crops (Maize and Rice). This is considered as a f.rst step to improve crop classif.cation through satellite imagery in the intensively cultivated areas in Egypt. Hyperspectral ground measurements of.ASD f.eld Spec3 spectroradiometer was used to monitor the spectral ref.ectance prof.le during the period of.the maximum growth stage of.the f.ur crops. 1-nm-wide was aggregated to 10-nm-wide bandwidths. Af.er accounting f.r atmospheric windows and/or areas of.signif.cant noise, a total of.2150 narrow bands in 400 - 2500 nm were used in the analysis. Spectral ref.ectance was divided into six spectral zones: blue, green, red, near-inf.ared, shortwave inf.ared-I and shortwave inf.ared-II. One Way ANOVA and Tukey’s HSD post hoc analysis was perf.rmed to choose the optimal spectral zone that could be used to dif.erentiate the dif.erent crops. Then, linear regression discrimination (LDA) was used to identif. the specif.c optimal wavebands in the spectral zones in which each crop could be spectrally identif.ed. The results of.Tukey’s HSD showed that blue, NIR, SWIR-1 and SWIR-2 spectral zones are more suf.icient in the discrimination between wheat and clover than green and red spectral zones. At the same time, all spectral zones were quite suf.icient to discriminate between rice and maize. The results of.(LDA) showed that the wavelength zone (727:1299 nm) was the optimal to identif. clover crop while three zones (350:712, 1451:1562, 1951:2349 nm) could be used to identif. wheat crop. AIM: To assess the relation between central retinal artery(CRA) resistive index(RI) and retinal nerve f.ber thickness measured by optical coherence tomography(OCT) in assessment of.disease progress in cases of.open angle ***: Twenty-three patients with diagnosed open angle glaucoma were included in this study. They were examined by colored duplex ultrasonography of.CRA with estimation of.RI of.CRA and ophthalmic artery(OA)with estimation of.CRA/OA RI ratio as well as OCT measurement of.the average retinal nerve f.ber layer(RNf.) thickness in order to assess the disease ***: There was strong inverse relation between the increased RI in CRA as well as the increased CRA/OA RI ratio and the decrease in average RNf. thickness in cases of.open angle ***: Assessment of.CRA RI can indirectly assess the vascular changes associated with glaucoma and can assess the degree of.retinal atrophy helping in evaluating prognosis thus guiding the choice of.treatment.

Primary Ovarian Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma: Retrospective Study of.16 Patients

Background: Primary non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (PONHL) of.the ovary is rare disease. Ovarian involvement by NHL is usually secondary, as a part of.systemic disease. It is f.equently diagnosed as ovarian carcinoma which causes a signif.cant delay in diagnosis and management. Objective: To analyze, to report and to better understand the clinico-pathologic f.atures and results of.treatment, and prognostic f.ctors of.these tumors. Material & methods: This was a retrospective single institutional work that included 16 cases of.primary ovarian non-Hodgkin lymphoma (PONHL) treated in National Cancer Institute-Cairo University f.om January 2010 till January 2015. All available medical data including the clinical and pathological characteristics, treatment, and outcomes of.patients with PONHL are analyzed. Results: Data f.om 16 patients are obtained. The patient’s age ranges f.om 14 to 55 years (mean 28 years). Ascites is the most common manif.station (75%). Tumor size ranges f.om 5 to 24 cm (mean 13.1). LDH is elevated in all cases (mean 644 U/L) and CA-125 is elevated in only 4 cases (25%) especially when there is an extensive peritoneal irritation. Ten cases (62.5%) are bilateral with stage IV-E according to the Ann Arbor staging system. The remaining six cases (37.5%) are unilateral with Ann Arbor stage I-E. There are no stage II-E or III-E in the current study. Tumors are classif.ed according to the World Health Organization as f.llows: dif.use large B-cell lymphoma (10 cases) (62.5%), Burkitt’s lymphoma (5 cases) (31%) and only one case of.B-lymphoblastic lymphoma/leukemia. All the tumors are of.B-cell lineage and are all CD20 positive. All Burkitt’s lymphoma cases show higher Ki67 index (4 cases are 100% and one is 88%). The case of.B-lymphoblastic lymphoma/leukemia is positive f.r TDT & CD 10. Improving the Dielectric Properties of.High Density Polyethylene by Incorporating Clay-Nanof.ller

Polymer nanocomposites have been used f.r various important industrial applications. The preparation of.high density polyethylene composed with Na-montmorillonite nanof.ller using melt compounding method f.r dif.erent concentrations of.clay-nanof.ller of.0%, 2%, 6%, 10%, and 15% has been successf.lly done. The morphology of.the obtained samples was optimized and characterized by scanning electron microscope showing the f.rmation of.the polymer nanocomposites. The thermal stability and dielectric properties were measured f.r the prepared samples. Thermal gravimetric analysis results show that thermal stability in polymer nanocomposites is more than that in the base polymer. It has been shown that the polymer nanocomposites exhibit some very dif.erent dielectric characteristics when compared to the base polymer. The dielectric breakdown strength is enhanced by the addition of.clay-nanof.ller. The dielectric constant (εr) and dissipation f.ctor (Tan δ) have been studied in the f.equency range 200 Hz to 2 MHz at room temperature indicating that enhancements have been occurred in εr and Tan δ by the addition of.clay-nanof.ller in the polymer material when compared with the pure material.

Identif.cation of.BoLA DRB3.2 Alleles Present in White f.lani and Muturu Cattle Breeds

Cattle production is an important aspect of.animal agriculture. Disease predisposition in cattle can lead to lowered productivity and poor animal welf.re. To select and breed f.r the f.ttest cattle population, it is expedient that we understand the genetic basis of.disease tolerance/resistance. Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) is a vital component of.the immune system in vertebrates. Its genes are crucial determinants f.r immune response and resistance to inf.ctious diseases. The bovine MHC is ref.rred to as Bovine Lymphocyte antigen (BoLA) with its most f.nctional and highly variable region located in the exon 2 (BoLA-DRB3.2). Over 100 alleles of.BoLA-DRB3.2 have been identif.ed in cattle and many studies have associated polymorphism in this region with disease resistance/susceptibility. In this study, we investigated the polymorphic nature of.BoLA-DRB3.2 in the White f.lani and Muturu cattle breeds using a single PCR-sequence based typing. We identif.ed 26 and 25 alleles in White f.lani and Muturu breeds, respectively, with only six alleles being mutual in the two breeds. Some of.the alleles identif.ed in this study have been noted as markers f.r disease status in cattle. BoLA-DRB3*014:01:01, BoLA-DRB3*011:01, and BoLA-DRB3*008:01 alleles have been associated with Bovine leukemia virus (BLV) resistance in cattle. BoLA-DRB3*014:01:01, BoLA-DRB3*001:01, and BoLA-DRB3*011:01 were linked with mastitis resistance in Japanese Holstein cows. While no inf.rence can be drawn in terms of.association with disease status, this study conf.rms the highly polymorphic and diverse nature of.BoLA-DRB3 in White f.lani and Muturu cattle breeds.

Nursing Research during COVID-19 Pandemic: A Scoping Review

Purpose: This review paper aimed to provide an overview of.the published nursing research related to the COVID-19 pandemic over the last six months. Method: Online Google Scholar database was searched f.r COVID-19 related articles published between the 1st of.Jan 2020 and 15th of.June 2020. f.ndings: The initial search f.und 1930 results f.om combining the search between the words “nurse” and “nursing” with COVID-19. Only 48 articles met the eligibility criteria. Most of.the studies f.cused on psychological f.ctors (33.3%), f.llowed by clinical practices (29.2%). The majority of.the authors have an academic af.iliation (70.8%), only (12.5%) have a clinical af.iliation. About (21%) of.the articles were f.nded, (90%) of.this f.nd came f.om China. Most of.the authors utilized the quantitative approach (27.1%);the qualitative approach has been used by (4.2%);only one article (2.1%) utilized the mixed methodology. No study used a theoretical or conceptual f.amework. Mainly, the nurses conducted their research independently (52.1%), while (35.4%) has been done in a multidisciplinary team;35.3% of.them were done in collaboration with physicians. Conclusion: The results indicate that the nurses responded immediately to the COVID-19 pandemic by conducting researches mainly by utilizing a quantitative approach and writing a lot of.editorials. To enrich the research results, nurses worked in research in collaboration with other disciplines, especially physicians. Still, the nursing research f.nding is under the limit. Stress and psychological f.ctors are the primary concern f.r the nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
