This paper presents an enhanced control strategy for Wind Energy Conversion System(WECS)using Doubly-Fed Induction Generator(DFIG).A robust Super-Twisting(STW)sliding mode control for variable speed wind turbine is developed to produce the optimal aerodynamic torque and improve the dynamic performance of the *** electromagnetic torque of the DFIG is directly tracked using the proposed control to achieve maximum power *** performance and the effectiveness of the STW control strategy are compared to conventional Sliding Mode(SM)and Proportional-Integral(PI)*** proposed STW algorithm shows interesting features in terms of chattering reduction,finite convergence time and robustness against parameters variations and system disturbances.

Plants have to cope with several abiotic stresses,including salinity and heavymetals(HMs).Under these stresses,several extracts have been used as effective natural biostimulants,however,the use of Spirulina platensis(SP)extract(SPE)remains *** effects of SPE were evaluated as soil addition(sa)and/or foliar spraying(FS)on antioxidant defenses and HMs content of common bean grown in saline soil contaminated with ***(40 or 80 mg SPE/hill added as sa or 20 or 40 mg SPE/plant added as FS)or integrative(sa+FS)applications of SPE showed significant improvements in the following order:sa-80+FS-40>sa-80+FS-20>sa-40+FS-40>sa-40+FS-20>sa-80>sa-40>FS-40>FS-20>***,the integrative sa+FS with 40 mg SP/plant was the most effective treatment in increasing plant growth and production,overcoming stress effects and minimizing contamination of the edible *** significantly increased plant growth(74%–185%)and yield(107%–227%)by enhancing net photosynthetic rate(78.5%),stomatal conductance(104%),transpiration rate(124%),and contents of carotenoids(60.0%),chlorophylls(49%–51%),and NPK(271%–366%).These results were concurrent with the marked reductions in malondialdehyde(61.6%),hydrogen peroxide(42.2%),nickel(91%–94%),lead(80%–9%),and cadmium(74%–91%)contents due to the improved contents of glutathione(87.1%),ascorbate(37.0%),andα-tocopherol(77.2%),and the activities of catalase(18.1%),ascorbate peroxidase(18.3%),superoxide dismutase(192%),and glutathione reductase(52.2%)as reinforcing ***,this most effective treatment is recommended to mitigate the stress effects of salinity and HMs on common bean production while minimizing HMs in the edible part.

Objective:To study the chemical profile,antimicrobial properties,and synergistic effect with known antibiotics of essential oil extracted from the marine red macroalgae Centroceras clavulatum(***)Montagne,collected in ***:The chemical composition of the oil was analyzed by gas chromatography-mass *** oil was evaluated for antibacterial(Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Escherichia coli,Bacillus subtilis,Micrococcus luteus,Staphylococcus aureus,and Klebsiella pneumoniae),and antifungal activity(Candida albicans,Candida glabrata,Candida krusei,and Candida parapsilosis),by the disc diffusion *** minimum inhibitory and minimum microbicidal concentrations of the oil were determined,as well as the synergistic effects of its application combined with the antibiotics ciprofloxacin and fluconazole,by the checkerboard ***:Thirty molecules were identified in the essential oil,comprising 96.27%of the total oil *** such as carvacrol(36.06%)were the most abundant compounds,followed by caryophyllene(14.67%),endo-borneol(9.04%),pyroterebic acid(3.23%)and caryophyllene oxide(3.13%).The oil exhibited a moderate antimicrobial activity with inhibition zone diameters ranging from 9.0 to 15.0 *** minimum inhibitory concentration values varied between 0.9 and 14.7 mg/mL,and Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli were the more sensitive bacteria with 0.9 and 1.9 mg/mL,*** minimum microbicidal concentration values ranged from 0.4 to 14.7 mg/mL.A significant synergic action was observed when the oil was applied in combination with ciprofloxacin and fluconazole,with fractional inhibitory concentration index values ranging from 0.31 to *** was found in 80%of the combinations and a 2 to 16-fold reduction of antibiotics MIC was ***:Our findings suggest that the essential oil of Centroceras clavulatum should be further appraised for its potential use in the management of multi-drug resistant microo

BACKGROUND: We aimed to explore the impact of the emergency department length of stay(edLOS) on the outcome of trauma ***: A retrospective study was conducted on all trauma patients requiring hospitalization between 2015 and 2019. Patients were categorized into 4 groups based on the edLOS(24 h). Data were analyzed using Chi-square test(categorical variables), Student’s t-test(continuous variables), correlation coefficient, analysis of variance and multivariate logistic regression analysis for identifying predictors of short edLOS and hospital ***: The study involved 7,026 patients with a mean age of 32.1±15.6 years. Onefifth of patients had a short edLOS(el trauma team T1 activation(TTA-1), higher Injury Severity Score(ISS), higher shock index(SI), and more head injuries than the other groups(P=0.001). Patients with an edLOS >24 h were older(P=0.001) and had more comorbidities(P=0.001) and fewer deaths(P=0.001). Multivariate regression analysis showed that the predictors of short edLOS were female gender, GCS, SI, hemoglobin level, ISS, and blood transfusion. The predictors of mortality were TTA-1(odds ratio [OR]=4.081, 95%CI: 2.364–7.045), head injury(OR=3.920, 95%CI: 2.413–6.368), blood transfusion(OR=2.773, 95%CI: 1.668–4.609), SI(OR=2.132, 95%CI: 1.364–3.332), ISS(OR=1.077, 95%CI: 1.057–1.096), and age(OR=1.040, 95%CI: 1.026–1.054). CONCLUSIONS: Patients with shorter edLOS had different baseline characteristics and hospital outcomes compared with patients with longer edLOS. Patients with prolonged edLOS had better outcomes;however, the burden of prolonged boarding in the ed needs further elaboration.

Men with chronic renal failure （CRF） on hemodialysis have been frequently associated with erectile dysfunc-tion （ed）, with an of between 20% to 87.7%. As a result of the multi-system disease processes present in many uremic men, it is apparent that the pathogenesis of ed is most probably multifactorial. Factors to be con-sidered include peripheral vascular disease, neurogenic abnormalities, hormonal disturbances and medications used for treatment of conditions associated with CRF. These physiological abnormalities may be supplement-ed by signifcant psychological stresses and abnormali-ties resulting from chronic illness. Treatment must start with the determination and treatment of the underlying causes. In addition to psychological treatment, furtherlines of treatment of ed in CRF can be classifed as 1stline （medical treatment which includes oral phosphodi-esterase-5 inhibitors and hormone regulation）, 2nd line（intracavernosal injection, vacuum constriction devicesand alprostadil urethral suppositories） or 3rd line （sur-gical treatment）. Renal transplantation improves thequality of life for some patients with CRF and subse-quently it may improve erectile function in a signifcantnumber of them, however still there is high incidenceof ed after transplantation.

Aim:The aim was to assess the impact of hyperglycemia on the recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)as well as evaluate survival after curative ablation by ***:This study,which was conducted retrospectively on 107 chronic hepatitis C(CHC)patients with 159 HCCs,was presented to the Hepatology Unit of Internal Medicine Department at Tanta University *** lesions were curatively treated by radiofrequency ablation(RFA)and the surveillance of HCC recurrence was evaluated radiologically every 3 months for periods between 6 and 36 *** 107 subjects,70 were males and 37 were females,with mean age 50.4±9.4 *** patients were divided according to their glycemic state into the following three groups:Group I,which included 37 type 2 diabetic patients,with adequate maintenance of blood glucose,has 52 HCCs;Group II,which included 25 type 2 diabetic patients with inadequate maintenance of blood glucose,has 43 HCCs;and Group III,which included 45 euglycemic non-diabetic patients,has 64 ***:Our results showed that,there was signifi cant increase in recurrence rate in diabetic patients with inadequate maintenance of blood glucose(Group II)compared to those in Group I and Group III(Py,there was no signifi cant difference concerning HCC recurrence between diabetic patients with adequate maintenance of blood glucose(Group I)and non-diabetic euglycemic patients(Group III).Our results also identifi ed that,inadequate maintenance of blood glucose in diabetic patients was also a signifi cant predictor of poor ***:Inadequate maintenance of blood glucose in diabetic patients is a signifi cant risk factor for recurrence of HCC and for poor survival after curative RFA therapy in CHC patients.

In this work, a numerical solution of the incompressible Stokes equations is proposed. The method suggested is based on an algorithm of discretization by the unstable of Q1 – P0 velocity/pressure ?nite element approximation. It is shown that the inf-sup stability constant is O(h) in two dimensions and O( h2) in three dimensions. The basic tool in the analysis is the method of modi?ed equations which is applied to ?nite difference representations of the underlying ?nite element equations. In order to evaluate the performance of the method, the numerical results are compared with some previously published works or with others coming from commercial code like Adina system.
