Difference between papillary and follicular thyroid carcinoma outcomes:an experience from Egyptian institution

Objective： Differentiated thyroid carcinomas （DTCs） are classified into papillary thyroid carcinoma （PTC） and follicular thyroid carcinoma （FTC）. DTCs are analyzed as a single group in clinical studies that investigated the prognostic factors and prognosis of these malignancies. However, the biological behaviors of these carcinomas significantly differ. In the present study, we aimed to detect differences in the outcomes between PTC and FTC in Mansoura University Hospital in Egypt. Methods： A total of SS8 patients with histologically proven thyroid carcinomas from January 2003 to December 2012 were retrospectively enrolled. The clinical and pathological data of patients were reviewed. Results： Large primary tumor size, lymph node involvement, extrathyroid extension, and distant metastasis were significant poor prognostic factors for overall survival （OS） in old PTC patients. Cox hazard analysis showed that the patient＇s age, extra thyroid extension, and distant metastasis were the only independent prognostic factors. In FTC patients, only the distant metastasis and degree of tumor invasion were significant poor prognostic factors in OS univariate analysis. However, these factors were nonsignificant in multivariate analysis. The 10-year OS rates were 97% and 89% for PTC and FTC, respectively （P=0.003）. The 10-year disease-free survival （DFS） rates were 77.2% in PTC vs. 65% in FTC （P=0.179）. Conclusion： The significant prognostic factors vary between the two types of DTCs. Therefore, PTC and FTC patients need to be analyzed and reported independently. PTC survival is widely and significantly affected by age, extrathyroid extension, and distant metastasis. By contrast, these factors were nonsignificant in FTC, which showed poorer survival than PTC.

Study of K*（892）0 and ?（1020） meson production in proton–proton and Pb–Pb collisions at ■=2.76 TeV

In this paper, we describe a study of charged particle yield as a function of pTfor K*（892）0and ?（1020） mesons in proton–proton（pp） and Pb–Pb collisions at ■=?2.76 Te V in the central rapidity region of |y|y important ratio,the nuclear modification factor, to study the effects of the medium in the most central region, i.e.0%–5% centrality. For data simulation, we used the EPOS-LHC and EPOS-1.99 models. To check the validity of these models' simulations, we compared the data obtained from these Monte Carlo simulation programs with ALICE experimental data for ■=?2.76 Te V. It was concluded that the models' predictions for the ?-meson in pp and for the most central Pb-Pb collisions disagreed with the ALICE data, and that the difference increased with pT. This may be connected with the essential role of collective parton behaviors which could not have been taken into account by the models. For K*0mesons, both programs gave almost the same predictions,and with pTin the interval pT?>?3 Ge V c-1, the predictions were very close to the experimental data. Both models gave higher predictions for the soft pTinterval and lower predictions for the hard interactions. The values of the RAAdistributions were lower than unity and both models were very close to the ALICE data. It is very interesting that the models were not able to describe the pTdistributions, but they gave good predictions for their ratios. This may possibly be due to parton collective behaviors. We observed some additional suppression of K*0at low values of pT with respect to f-mesons, which may be related to the role of the masses of the particles in soft interactions. The rising trend for RAAin the region from pT=?10 Ge V c-1to 20 Ge V c-1observed by the ALICE experiment was absent for the f-mesons.

CT-Guided Lumbar Facet Joint Infiltration: Accessibility, Accuracy and Functional Outcome

Background: Pain generated from lumbar facet joint affection is considered a common cause of low back pain. Image-guided facet joint infiltration is performed to reduce pain severity and to confirm its source. Aim: The objective of this study is to assess the accessibility, and accuracy and to evaluate the functional outcome of the CT-guided lumbar facet joint infiltration in management of low back pain. Subjects and Methods: This retrospective study included thirty four patients. All patients were diagnosed with low back pain due to lumbar facet syndrome. Adequate conservative therapy failed to improve the patient’s symptoms. Totally, 81 lumbar facet joints were treated by CT-guided intra-articular infiltration. Mean time of hospital stay was 6 - 8 hours. In the procedure technique, measures were applied to reduce the patients’ radiation exposure. The response to treatment was evaluated by the visual analogue scale (VAS) before procedure and at follow-up visits. Results: Among 34 adult patients included in this study, 26 were males and 8 were females. The mean age was 49.5 ± 8.5 years. Mean Duration of low back pain on admission was 8.2 ± 3.5 months. Bilateral CT-guided intra-articular infiltration was performed in 23 patients (67.5%). Assessing the response after facet joint infiltration, 82.4% of the patients showed immediate pain improvement after the procedure;85.3% of the patients reported pain relief after 1 month and 67.6% at 12 month follow up. There was a statistically significant relief of pain after the intervention at 12 month follow up (p Conclusion: Lumbar Facet joint infiltration guided with CT scanning seems to be a reliable and safe procedure for low back pain management. Beside immediate and long term pain relief achieved using this minimally invasive technique;CT guidance provides an accessible and accurate route for the needle with low radiation dose exposure.

Biological treatments as a mean to improve feed utilization in agriculture animals——An overview

As a result of agriculture practices, million tons of agriculture are produced as a secondary or by-products; however, with low nutritive values. Many methods are applied to improve the nutritive value and increase its utilization in ruminant＇s nutrition. The biological treatments are the most common with more safe-treated products. In most cases, the biological treatments are paralleled with decreased crude fiber and fiber fractions content with increased crude protein content. Direct-fed microbial and exogenous enzymes to animal are other ways of biological methods for improving nutritive value of feeds. Here in this review, we will try to cover the biological treatments of by-products from different sides view with different types of animals and different animal end-products.

Frequency of diabetic retinopathy and associated risk factors in Khartoum,Sudan:population based study

AIM： To assess the frequency and associated risk fac- tors of diabetic retinopathy among Sudanese individuals with diabetes attending Makka Eye complex in Khartoum, Sudan. METHODS： The cross sectional hospital based study recruited 316 individuals with diabetes from Makkah Eye Complex Retina Clinic. Standard questionnaire was used to collect demographic data, medical history and life style characteristics. Blood samples were taken to measure HbAlc and lipid profile. Fundus and slit lamp examination were performed for screening of diabetic retinopathy. RESULTS： Among 316 participants, 187 （59.2%） were males and 129 （40.8%） were females. The mean age of participants was 58.7＋_10.5y. The overall frequency of retinopathy was 261 （82.6%）. The percentages of the total participants with proliferative diabetic retinopathy （PDR） were 126 （39.9%） and non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy （NPDR） were 135 （42.7%）. importantly, duration of diabetes mellitus （DM）（72.2% of more than 10y）, being on oral hypoglycaemic drugs （versus insulin）, and hypertension were all significant risk factors for diabetic retinopathy （P=0.00, 0.01 and 0.00 respectively）. Complications ofdiabetes like diabetic foot （17.7%）, history of amputation （6.7%） and clinically significant macular edema （CSME）（47.4%） of the eyes were all significant risk factors （P〈0.05）. Logistic regression analysis showed that duration of diabetes, hypertension and CSME were found to be absolute risk factors （P=-0.007, 0.003 and 0,000 respectively）. Duration of DM of more than 10y have more than double risk （OR--2.8）, while having hypertension triples the risk of retinopathy （OR=3.1）. CONCLUSION： High rates of diabetic retinopathy are noted among individuals with diabetes attending Makkah Eye hospital in capital Khartoum. Urgent strategies are needed to monitor and treat hypertension and optimize diabetes control in individuals with diabetes. More investment in diabetes services is urgently needed.

The influence of the purity degree of the commercial aluminium on the mechanical properties： elastic stress, tensile strength, Brinell hardness, resilience and elongation at break was investigated. It was found that the first three resistance characteristics decrease with the growth of the purity of the material chosen to the detriment of two ductility characteristics that rise to the three states considered： crude of casting noted： F, Annealed noted： O, hardened noted ： H1/4. Furthermore, it is important to note that the hardened and the annealed lead respectively to a considerable hardening and a considerable softening. This hardening and this softening of the material in question can be respectively associated with the increase in dislocation density and immigration impurity elements of dislocations.

Food choice motives(i.e.,mood,health,natural content,convenience,sensory appeal,price,familiarities,ethical concerns,and weight control)have an important role in transforming the current food system to ensure the healthiness of people and the sustainability of the *** from several domains have presented several models addressing issues influencing food choice over the ***,a multidisciplinary approach is required to better understand how various aspects interact with one another during the decision-making *** this paper,four Deep Learning(DL)models and one Machine Learning(ML)model are utilized to predict the weight in pounds based on food *** Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)model,stacked-LSTM model,Conventional Neural Network(CNN)model,and CNN-LSTM model are the used deep learning *** the applied ML model is the K-Nearest Neighbor(KNN)*** efficiency of the proposed model was determined based on the error rate obtained from the experimental *** findings indicated that Mean Absolute Error(MAE)is 0.0087,the Mean Square Error(MSE)is 0.00011,the Median Absolute Error(MedAE)is 0.006,the Root Mean Square Error(RMSE)is 0.011,and the Mean Absolute Percentage Error(MAPE)is ***,the results demonstrated that the stacked LSTM achieved improved results compared with the LSTM,CNN,CNN-LSTM,and KNN regressor.

BACKGROUND:An intussusception is the invagination of one segment of the intestine into *** is more common in children,but a rare clinical entity in adults, where the condition is almost always caused by tumors. METHODS:A 51-year-old female presented with symptoms of gastric outlet obstruction associated with significant weight loss,but no *** hematological and biochemical investigation,including tumor markers,were *** ultrasound revealed duodenojejunal intussusception,and subsequent CT of the abdomen confirmed it. RESULTS:She underwent a laparotomy,which confirmed duodenojejunal *** reducing the intussusception and performing a duodenotomy,a periampullary mass was ***,she underwent a pylorus-preserving *** confirmed periampullary adenocarcinoma. CONCLUSIONS:Adult intussusceptions are mostly caused by *** CT is the investigation of choice, although ultrasound can be *** should have a low threshold for suspecting malignancy,obtain frozen section histology,and seek appropriate help at an early stage.

Herein,a simple synthetic approach is employed for the atomic dispersion of Rh atoms(Rh SAs)over the surface of interconnected Mo_(2)C nanosheets intimately embedded in a three-dimensional Ni_(x)MoO_(y)nanorod arrays(Ni_(x)MoO_(y)NRs)framework;we found that the introduction of both isolated Rh SAs and Ni_(x)MoO_(y)NRs adjusts the electrocatalytic function of the host Mo_(2)C toward the direction of being an advanced and highly stable electrocatalyst for efficient hydrogen evolution at pH-universal *** a result,the proposed catalyst outperforms most recently reported transition metal-based catalysts,and its performance even rivals that of commercial Pt/C,as demonstrated by its ultralow overpotentials of 31.7,109.7,and 95.4 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm^(-2),along with its small Tafel slopes of 42.4,51.2,and 46.8 mV dec^(-1)in acidic,neutral,and alkaline conditions,*** addition,the catalyst shows remarkable long-term stability over all pH values with good maintenance of its catalytic activity and structural characteristics after continuous operation.
