Germline pathogenic variants among high hereditary risk patients with breast and ovarian cancer and unaffected subjects in Lebanese Arab women

BACKGROUND The prevalence of germline pathogenic variants in high hereditary risk breast and/or ovarian cancer patients and unaffected subjects referred for testing is an unmet need in low and middle-income *** To determine the prevalence of germline pathogenic variants in high hereditary risk patients with breast and/or ovarian cancer and unaffected *** We retrospectively reviewed records of patients and unaffected subjects referred for germline pathogenic variant testing due to high hereditary risk between *** was collected and analyzed on Excel *** In total,358 individuals were included,including 257 patients and 101 unaffected individuals with relatives with breast or ovarian *** prevalence of breast cancer susceptibility gene(BRCA)1/2 pathogenic variants was 8.63%(19/220)in patients with breast cancer,and 15.1%(5/33)in those with ovarian *** the 25 of 220 patients with breast cancer tested by next-generation sequencing,3 patients had pathogenic variants other than BRCA1/*** highest risk was observed in those aged 40 years with breast cancer and a positive family history,where the BRCA1/2 prevalence was 20.1%(9/43).Among the unaffected subjects,31.1%(14/45)had the same BRCA1/2 pathogenic variants in their corresponding *** the subjects referred because of a positive family history of cancer without known hereditary factors,5.35%(3/56)had pathogenic variants of BRCA1 and *** c.131G>T nucleotide change was noted in one patient and two unrelated unaffected subjects with a BRCA1 pathogenic *** This study showed a 8.63%prevalence of pathogenic variants in patients with breast cancer and a 15.1%prevalence in patients with ovarian *** the relatives of patients with BRCA1/2 pathogenic variants,31%tested positive for the same variant,while 5.3%of subjects who tested positive due to a family history of breast cancer had a BRCA pathogenic variant.

Emerging insights into the function of very long chain fatty acids at cerebellar synapses

Very long chain-saturated and-polyunsaturated fatty acids(VLC-SFA and VLC-PUFA, respectively) are a functionally important class of fatty acids containing 28 carbons or more in their acyl chain. They are synthesized by the elongation of very long fatty acids-4(ELOVL4) enzyme, expressed mainly in the brain, retina, skin, testes, and meibomian gland, where these fatty acids are found(Agbaga et al., 2008). Further, these organs exhibit tissuespecific VLC-PUFA and VLC-SFA biosynthesis and incorporation into complex lipids for specific functions. In the brain, skin, and Meibomian glands, the ELOVL4 mainly makes VLC-SFA, which are incorporated into complex sphingolipids. In the retina, the ELOVL4 makes VLC-PUFA that are incorporated into phosphatidylcholine, that are critical for visual function, while in testes and sperm, the VLC-PUFA are incorporated into sphingolipids that are critical for fertility(Yeboah et al., 2021).

Investigation for Uranium Dispersion Adjacent to Cretaceous Phosphatic Outcrops in al-Nassrieh Basin, Southern Palmyrides, Syria

A detailed radiometric survey including soil gas radon measurements and field gammaray survey, in accordance with geochemical and geological investigations were carried out in alNassrieh Basin（central Syria）, for the purpose of uranium exploration. Thirty-six samples were collected from various lithofacies of the survey area and analyzed by γ-ray spectrometric technique for determining the concentration values of major radioelements. The relationships between the concentrations of equivalent e U, e Th, and their ratios were examined in order to define their trend of variations and evaluate the degree of uranium remobilization and redistribution. although the initial results indicate that uranium enrichment is mostly restricted to the Upper Cretaceous phosphate rocks, a considerable portion of uranium appeared to be leached out of the primary phosphatic source and dispersed in the adjacent recent sediments. Further, notable increases of radon level associated with relatively high values of uranium concentration and gamma count rates were found to be spatially correlated with the transition zone between the marine Paleogene and continental Neogene formations throughout the study basin. This observation demonstrates the importance of the concerned zone as a suitable geological environment for hosting probable uranium mineralization along a chemically reducing interface where surface water of terrestrial and marine origin mingled at depth and away from surficial conditions.

Optimum alternate material selection methodology for an aircraft skin

Weight penalty has been a challenge for design engineers of aerospace ***’s high-efficiency combat aircraft undergoes intense stress and strain during flying missions,which require stronger and stiffer materials to retain structural *** metallic materials have been successfully used for the construction of aircraft structures and components,metals still have a low strength-to-weight *** paper aims to develop an alternate optimised material selection methodology to replace the metallic skin of a medium-sized military *** search for the optimum material will result in reduced aircraft weight which will be benefitted by extra payload on the *** selection methodology is comprised of finding design pressure limits on the aircraft skin,and comparison of properties(strength,elastic modulus,shear modulus,etc.)and performance(safety factor,deflection,and stress)of the existing metallic skin with alternate optimised *** comparison was made under aerodynamic pressure,bending force,and twisting *** Fibre Reinforced Polymer/Epoxy(CFRP)Uni-Directional(UD)prepreg(elastic modolus is 209 GPa)was selected as an alternate optimum material to replace the aluminium alloy skin of the aircraft *** selected alternate optimum material resulted in the reduction of aircraft skin weight by 30%.

An Optimal Method for High-Resolution Population Geo-Spatial Data

China' Mainland has a poor distribution of meteorological *** models’estimation accuracy for creating high-resolution surfaces of meteorological data is restricted for air temperature,and low for relative humidity and wind speed(few studies reported).This study compared the typical generalized additive model(GAM)and autoencoder-based residual neural network(hereafter,residual network for short)in terms of predicting three meteorological parameters,namely air temperature,relative humidity,and wind speed,using data from 824 monitoring stations across China’s mainland in *** performance of the two models was assessed using a 10-fold cross-validation *** air temperature models employ basic variables such as latitude,longitude,elevation,and the day of the *** relative humidity models employ air temperature and ozone concentration as covariates,while the wind speed models use wind speed coarse-resolution reanalysis data as covariates,in addition to the fundamental *** coordinates represent spatial variation,while the time index of the day captures time variation in our spatiotemporal *** comparison to GAM,the residual network considerably improved prediction accuracy:on average,the coefficient of variation(CV)R2 of the three meteorological parameters rose by 0.21,CV root-mean square(RMSE)fell by 37%,and the relative humidity model improved the *** accuracy of relative humidity models was considerably improved once the monthly index was included,demonstrating that varied amounts of temporal variables are crucial for relative humidity *** also spoke about the benefits and drawbacks of using coarse resolution reanalysis data and closest neighbor values as *** comparison to classic GAMs,this study indicates that the residual network model may considerably increase the accuracy of national high spatial(1 km)and temporal(daily)resolution meteorological *** findings have implications for high-resoluti

Flood disasters can be reliablymonitored using remote sensing photos with great spatiotemporal ***,satellite revisit periods and extreme weather limit the use of high spatial resolution *** a result,this research provides a method for combining Landsat and MODIS pictures to produce high spatiotemporal imagery for flood disaster *** the spatial and temporal adaptive reflectance fusion model(STARFM),the spatial and temporal reflectance unmixingmodel(STRUM),and three prominent algorithms of flexible spatiotemporal data fusion(FSDAF),Landsat fusion images are created by fusing MODIS and Landsat ***,to extract flood information,utilize a support vector machine(SVM)to classify the fusion *** the accuracy of your *** results suggest that the three spatio-temporal fusion algorithms may be used to effectively monitor floods,with FSDAF’s fusion results outperforming STARFM and STRUM in both study *** overall flood classification accuracy of the three STARFM,STRUM,and FSDAF algorithms in the Gwydir research region is 0.89,0.90,and 0.91,respectively,with Kappa coefficients of 0.63,0.64,and *** flood classification accuracy of the three fusion algorithms in the New Orleans research region is 0.90,0.89,and 0.91,with Kappa values of 0.77,0.76,and 0.81,*** spatio-temporal fusion technique can be used to successfully monitor floods,according to this study.
