In this study,light-by-light(LBL)scattering with initial polarized compton backscattered photons at the cLIc,induced by axion-like particles(ALPs),is *** total cross sections are calculated assuming cP-even coupling of the pseudoscalar ALP to *** 95%*** region for the ALP mass ma and its coupling constant f is *** results are compared with cLIc bounds previously obtained for the unpolar-ized *** is shown that the bounds onf for the polarized beams in the region m_(a)=1000-2000 Gev with colli-sion energy of 3000 Gev and integrated luminosity of 4000 fb^(-1)are on average 1.5 times stronger than the bounds for the unpolarized ***,our cLIc bounds are stronger than those for all current exclusion regions for m_(a)>80 *** particular,they are more restrictive than the limits that follow from the ALP-mediated LBL scatter-ing at the LHc.

nm roughness value of silicon surface by diamond turning is obtained firstly and three novel techniques are proposed. The surface integrity is studied in detail by using atomic force microscope, scanning electron microscope, and stylus surface instrument. The diamond tool sharpness has a considerable influence on the machined surface, therefore a novel technique—brightness modulation for measuring accurately the edge of the cutter is proposed. Mirror surfaces are assessed by another novel technique—a measure of their reflectivity. A third technique, single grit diamond machining is carried out. It supplies a experimental evidence for verifying the obtained high quality turned surfaces.

Alternative splicing （AS） is a crucial step in gene expression. It is subject to intricate regulation, and its deregulation in cancer can lead to a wide array of neoplastic phenotypes. A large body of evidence implicates splice isoforms in most if not all hallmarks of cancer, including growth, apoptosis, invasion and metastasis, angiogenesis, and metabolism. AS has important clinical implications since it can be manipulated therapeutically to treat cancer and represents a mechanism of resistance to therapy. In prostate cancer （Pca） AS also plays a prominent role and this review will summarize the current knowledge of alternatively spliced genes with important functional consequences. We will highlight accumulating evidence on AS of the components of the two critical pathways in Pca： androgen receptor （AR） and phosphoinositide 3-kinase （PI3K）. These observations together with data on dysregulation of splice factors in Pca suggest that AR and PI3K pathways may be interconnected with previously unappreciated splicing regulatory networks. In addition, we will discuss several lines of evidence implicating splicing regulation in the development of the castration resistance.

The effect of selective preservation during transportation of zircon grains on the detrital age spectrum is difficult to quantify and could potentially lead to systematic bias in provenance analysis. Here we investigate whether the shape of detrital zircon grains holds provenance information and if the grain shape can assist in understanding preservation. We applied multiple linear regression analysis to identify significant shape properties in detrital zircons from Proterozoic metasediments of the capricorn and Amadeus basins and their Archean and Proterozoic sources in the Yilgarn craton and the Musgrave Province in Western Australia. Digital images and isotopic data from 819 SIMS U-Pb dated zircons were examined for correlation between grain shape, age, U and Th content. Out of twelve shape descriptors measured, Minor Axis, the width of zircon grains perpendicular to the crystallographic c-axis, consistently shows the most significant correlation with isotopic age. In the studied population Archean grains are narrower than Proterozoic grains: the probability that grains wider than 75 μm are Archean is less than30%.calculations of the proportions of source material in sedimentary rocks relative to the proportions of source material in the overall catchment area(erosion parameter 'K' calculated based on age spectra)produced values typical for mature river systems, with K = 6 for the Yilgarn-capricorn and K = 5.5 for the Musgrave-Amadeus source-sink system. For the Yilgarn-capricorn system, we also calculated 'K' based on Minor Axis, to determine whether grain width can be linked to age populations. Results of the shapebased K of 5.3 suggest a similarity between age-based and shape-based 'K' values, demonstrating that zircon grain width may be a useful discriminator of provenance. contrary to commonly applied qualitative shape classifications, we found no consistent correlations between shape descriptors of magmatic zircons and the composition of their host rock. The effects of different experimental conditions on the dry sliding wear behavior of stainless steel surface produced by plasma transferred arc （PTA） hardfacing process were studied. The wear test was conducted in a pinon-roller wear testing machine, at constant sliding distance of 1 kin. Mathematical models were developed to estimate wear rate incorporating with rotational speed, applied load and roller hardness using statistical tools such as design of experiments, regression analysis and analysis of variance. It is found that the wear resistance of the PTA hardfaced stainless steel surface is better than that of the carbon steel substrate.

The torsional characteristics of single walled carbon nanotube(SWcNT) with water interactions are studied in this work using molecular dynamics simulation method. The torsional properties of carbon nanotubes(cNTs) in a hydrodynamic environment such as water are critical for its key role in determining the lifetime and stability of cNT based nano-fluidic devices. The effect of chirality, defects and the density of water encapsulation is studied by subjecting the SWcNT to torsion. The findings show that the torsional strength of SWcNT decreases due to interaction of water molecules and presence of defects in the SWcNT. Additionally,for the case of water molecules encapsulated inside SWcNT, the torsional response depends on the density of packing of water molecules. Our findings and conclusions obtained from this paper is expected to further compliment the potential applications of cNTs as promising candidates for applications in nano-biological and nano-fluidic devices.

The sensitivity of the plasmonic sensor surfaces can be enhanced significantly if the sensor region is bent to U shape. Here, an experimental verification is done to evaluate the performance variations of the U-bent plasmonic silver coated sensor surfaces with different coating orientations inside the vacuum coating chamber. The performances of uncoated, partially coated as well as fully coated optical fiber U-bent surfaces are analyzed. The results show that the coating configuration of the U-bent surfaces can affect the sensing property. A fully silver coated sensor region outperforms the other two types of sensor surfaces with better sensing capability.

Evolution of viscosity of some aqueous poly （ethylene oxide） gels is observed as functions of polymeric concentration and temperature for samples subjected to thermal shock. The experimental data are analyzed following an appropriate algorithm, and reveal the transient effect from Newtonian to non-Newtonian flow as a function of the polymeric concentration.

here are limitations in using the seasonal rainfall total in studies of Monsoon rainfall climatology. A correlation analysis of the individual station seasonal rainfall with all India seasonal mean rainfall has been made. After taking the significance test (strictly up to 5% level) the stations which are significantly correlated have been considered in this study in normal, flood and drought years respectively. Analysis of seasonal rainfall data of 50 stations spread over a period of 41 years suggests that a linear relationship fits better than the logarithmic relationship when seasonal rainfall versus number of rainy days is studied. The linear relationship is also found to be better in the case of seasonal rainfall versus mean daily intensity.
