This paper presents an assessment evaluation of methane gas yield using a derived model based on the hydraulic retention time (HRT) of the feed stock (waste fruits) undergoing biotreatment in the digester. The derived model;γ = e(3.5436 α + 2.0259) indicates an exponential relationship between methane yield and the HRT. Statistical analysis of the model-predicted and experimental gas methane yield for each value of HRT considered shows a standard error of 0.0081 and 0.0114% respectively. Furthermore, the correlation between methane yield and HRT as obtained from derived model and experimental results were evaluated as 0.9716 and 0.9709 respectively. Methane gas yield per unit HRT as obtained from derived model and experiment are 0.0196 and 0.0235 (m3kg-1 VS) days-1 respectively. Deviational analysis indicates that the maximum deviation of the model-predicted methane yield from the corresponding experimental value is less than 16%. It was also found that the validity of the model is rooted on the expression 0.2822 ln γ = α + 0.5717 where both sides of the expression are correspondingly approximately equal.

Chemical Compostion of Earthen Pond Feed from Spring Water, in Asaba Campus, Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria

Sound pond productivity accompanied with adequate fish health is maintained, when water quality parameters are conducive. The study evaluated the chemical composition of a pond feed from spring water, in Asaba Campus. Sampling was carried out from September 2011 to February 2012 on a monthly basis. Surface water samples were collected between the hours of 7：00-9：00 am from the pond on each sampling day. Hydrogen-ion-concentration was in the range of 6.5 to 8.0 units. Dissolved oxygen was the highest in February 2012 with a value of 11.0 mg/L while it was the lowest in December 2011 with a value of 9.0 mg/L. Biological oxygen demand ranged from 3.5 to 5.0 mg/L. The chemical oxygen demand was the highest in December （10.00 mg/L） and lowest between January and February （8.0mg/L）. The highest alkalinity was observed in October with a value of 1.05 mg/L and lowest in December with a value of 0.042 mg/L. Conductivity values ranged from 0.075 to 0.12 μS/cm. Total phosphorus was the highest in October with a value of 1.01 mg/L and lowest in December with a value of 0.83 mg/L. Total dissolved solids ranged from 90 to 105 mg/L. Values of physco-chemical parameters revealed that the pond was not polluted. Water quality analysis of the aquatics is of economic advantage to the fish farmer, hence, the need for its assessment at regular intervals. This is a quality assurance process that assures early dictation of toxic substances and mitigation processes to adopt before problems arise. In this way, the good health of organisms in the aquatic ecosystem and those of human dependent on them are guaranteed.

AIM: To study the association of the frequency and pattern of KIT and PDGFRA mutations and clinicopathological factors in a group of patients with gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). METHODS: Thirty patients with GIST were examined. Exons 9, 11, 13, and 17 of the KIT and exons 12 and 18 of the PDGFRA gene were analyzed for the presence of mutations by PCR amplification and direct sequencing. RESULTS: KIT or PDGFRA mutations were detected in 21 of the 30 patients (70%). Sixteen patients had mutations within KIT exon 11, three within KIT exon 9, and two within PDGFRA exon 18. GISTs with KIT exon 9 mutations were predominantly located in the small intestine, showed a spindle cell phenotype, and were assessed as potentially malignant. GISTs with KIT exon 11 mutations were located in the stomach and intestine, showed mainly a spindle cell phenotype, and were scored as potentially malignant (P < 0.05). Tumors with KIT exon 11 codon 557/558 deletion/insertion mutations were found to be associated with a potentially malignant clinical behaviour (P < 0.003). GISTs with PDGFRA mutations located in stomach showed a mixedcell phenotype and were classified as of very low or low moderate malignant potential. CONCLUSION: Determination of KIT and PDGFRA mutations should be additional parameters for the better prediction of GISTs clinical behaviour. Tumors with deletion/insertion mutations affecting codons 557/558 of the KIT gene seem to represent a distinct subset of malignant GISTs.

近年来,印度尼西亚税收改革进展迅速,推出一系列降低税负、扩大优惠范围的改革措施。同时,印度尼西亚对改革阻力巨大的劳工法和投资法进行了大刀阔斧的修订,改善了营商环境,增强了对外资的吸引力。本文在介绍印度尼西亚税收改革的背景、具体措施和影响的基础上,对投资印尼的中国企业提出应对建议,特别是劳动密集型行业投资者和经营者,需持续关注印尼税收改革的配套政策,利用印尼良好的制造业基础、具有竞争力的劳动力成本和庞大的消费市场,在印尼建立服装制造、电子产品等产业基地。同时,鉴于印尼的税收改革会对我国吸引外资造成一定的冲击,建议我国进一步提高对国家战略性研究项目、高风险研究项目等加计扣除的比例,以加快产业的转型升级。

Background:United airway disease,a comorbid of allergic rhinitis and asthma,leads to the accumulation of toxic eosinophil in the lung parenchyma as a result of allergic ***(OVA)sets off a condition of eosinophilia in the respiratory *** supplementations are proposed to decrease the amount of eosinophil in the lung parenchyma due to its cytoprotective,anti-inflammation and antioxidant ***:Proving the effects of the zinc supplementation on the number of eosinophil in the lung histopathology preparations of the BALB/c mice that were sensitized with ***:A post-test only control group design was used,which consisted of eighteen female BALB/c mice divided into three groups:the negative control group(K1),positive control group with OVA sensitization(K2),and group of mice with OVA sensitization and 5 mg/kg body weight zinc supplementation(P).The treatments were given for 30 days and then eosinophils in the lung histopathology preparations of the BALB/c mice were ***:The mean eosinophil count in the negative control group(K1)was 0.48,the positive control group(K2)was 2.12,and the group of mice with OVA sensitization and 5 mg/kg body weight zinc supplementation(P)was *** number of eosinophil in the lungs in the K2 group was significantly higher than the K1 group(p=0.000)and the P group was significantly lower than K2 group in ANOVA Test followed by Post Hoc Test(p=0.001).Conclusion:The zinc supplementation reduces the number of eosinophil in the lungs tissue of the BALB/c mice that were sensitized with OVA.

A Retrospective Study on Outpatient Pharmacist Intervention to Enhance Statin Adherence in Patients at High Risk of Cardiovascular Disease

In real-world practice, medication non-adherence is a common problem which has led to poor clinical outcomes, increased hospital admissions and unnecessary healthcare costs. In 2011, Kaiser Permanente Napa Solano outpatient pharmacy implemented a new pilot program to improve adherence to statin therapy in patients at high risk of developing cardiovascular disease. Interventions included telephone reminders and personalized consultations targeting patient specific barriers. The objective of this retrospective analysis is to evaluate the impact of outpatient pharmacist interventions in addressing early non-persistence, which is defined as failure to pick up the first refill on time. The information collected included quantitative data for descriptive analysis, with the primary outcome measuring prescription pick up rate in contacted patients. Secondary outcomes included baseline characteristics, time to refill pick up after the contact and specific interventions made by pharmacists. 75 patients were identified in a six month period and 38 patients received phone consultations. The obtained results showed that 39.5% of the patients picked up the first refill within 20 days after the phone consultation, which was significantly higher compared to the baseline pickup rate of 5.4%. In regards to the secondary endpoint, patients taking no more than five medications were associated with lower response rate （P = - 0.02）.
