This study explains the entropy process of natural convective heating in the nanofluid-saturated cavity in a heated fin andmagnetic *** temperature is constant on the Y-shaped fin,insulating the topwall while the remaining walls remain *** walls are subject to impermeability and non-slip *** mathematical modeling of the problem is demonstrated by the continuity,momentum,and energy equations incorporating the inclined magnetic *** elucidating the flow characteristics Finite ElementMethod(FEM)is implemented using stable FE pair.A hybrid fine mesh is used for discretizing the *** and thermal plots concerning parameters are *** addition,a detailed discussion regarding generation energy by monitoring changes in magnetic,viscous,total,and thermal irreversibility is *** addition,line graphs are created for the u and v components of the velocity profile to predict the flow *** simulations assume the dimensionless representative of magnetic field Hartmann number Ha between 0 and 100 and a magnetic field inclination between 0 and 90 degrees.A constant 4% volume proportion of nanoparticles is employed throughout all scenarios.

Biodiesel production from green seaweed Ulva fasciata catalyzed by novel waste catalysts from Pakistan Steel Industry

This research article is based on the biodiesel synthesis from the marine green macroalga Ulva fasciata, collected from the coast of Karachi, Pakistan using new and the most potential waste catalysts from Pakistan Steel *** oil was extracted with n-hexane then it was analyzed by GC, TLC and by the examination of fuel *** metal analysis of catalysts was carried out by chemical tests and flame atomic absorption spectroscopy(FAAS). The thermal treatment of catalysts at 1500–1700 °C during various processes in steel manufacturing industry converted the metals to metal oxides. The presence of CaO, MgO and ZnO in these catalysts made them highly reactive for biodiesel synthesis. The basicity of waste industrial catalysts was calculated to know their basic strength. The transesterification of U. fasciata oil was performed by fast stirring using 9:1 molar ratio of methanol/oil in the presence of seven different waste industrial catalysts for 6 h at 80–100 °C. The solid catalysts were easily separated from product for re-use. In addition, the rate of reaction in the presence of these catalysts was found to be quite feasible. The waste brown dust from the steel converter gave the highest yield(88%) of biodiesel. The production of biodiesel was confirmed by TLC examination and fuel properties in comparison with the ASTM standards.

Bed planting of wheat(Triticum aestivum L.)improves nitrogen use efficiency and grain yield compared to flat planting

Conventional flat planting is commonly used for growing wheat in Pakistan and the crop is irrigated by flood irrigation, but it leads to ineffective use of applied nitrogen owing to poor aeration and leaching and volatilization losses. The practice also results in greater crop lodging, lower water use efficiency, and crusting of the soil surface. In contrast, bed planting of wheat not only saves water but improves fertilizer use efficiency and grain yield. Three years of pooled data from the present study showed that wheat planting on beds and nitrogen application at 120 kg ha-1produced 15.06% higher grain yield than flat planting at the same nitrogen rate. Similarly, 25.04%, 15.02%, 14.59%, and 29.83% higher nitrogen uptake, nitrogen use, and agronomic and recovery efficiencies, respectively, were recorded for bed compared to flat planting. Wheat planting on beds with a nitrogen application of80 kg ha-1gave a yield similar to that of flat planting with 120 kg ha-1nitrogen. However,the economic return was 29% higher in bed planting as compared to flat planting, when nitrogen was applied at 120 kg ha-1.

Formation of crystalline particles from phase change emulsion： Influence of different parameters

Solidification or crystallization of phase change emulsion in the form of fine emulsion drops in a direct contact coolant at temperatures below their freezing point was studied. This work is mainly focused on the size and shape of the generated partides from phase change emulsified fats. Size of the particles is the major or key factor being considered during their formation, however, other factors that govern the particle size and shape were also observed. The operating parameters of the process were optimized in order to obtain particles of smaller size ranges in the window of current operating conditions. The crystallization of complex emulsion maffices is very difficult to control in the bulk at desired requirement. Hence, the emulsion drop to particle formation has advan- tage in comparison with the bulk solidification or crystallization. The main objective of this work is to achieve spherical emulsion particles in a direct contact cooling system. Parameters like： stat）ility, characterization, viscos- ity, and the effect of different energy inputs were examined. Moreover, the effects of the capillary size, interracial tension, temperature of the emulsion on the particle size were also monitrored.

Effects of different sleeping patterns on academic performance in medical school students

In the past, efforts have been made to determine the influence of sleep quantity and its deprivation, on functioning efficiency of human beings. However, determination of sleeping patterns that could improve intellectual performance has been largely neglected. This study is designed to discover the effects of different sleeping patterns on academic performance among medical students. A descriptive study was carried out in King Edward Medical University in Lahore, Pakistan during a six-month time span from May 11th, 2011 to September 30th, 2011. Of the total population of 1350 students in King Edward Medical University, 591 undergraduates were included in the study. A questionnaire designed on sleeping patterns and academic performance was distributed in May 2011. What was described as outstanding students were greater in number in group 4 (7/19) 36.8% and group 6 (6/19) 31.6%. Above average students with sleeping patterns were in group 4 (13/37) 35.1% and group 6 (10/37) 27%. Average students were shown to have sleeping patterns of group 4 (11/25) 44% and group 6 (7/25) 28%. Below average students were shown to have sleeping patterns of group 4 (3/3) 100%. Most of our students had a reduction in the total amount of sleeping hours throughout the years. Midnight to 6 o’clock in the morning with an afternoon nap was the sleeping pattern that was most commonly seen in all groups. We concluded that different sleeping patterns do not affect the performance of medical students in the academic prospective. Many other factors may be involved in the lack of significant achievement, in order to prove that the sleeping patterns are not related to the academic performance, and more data would need to be collected.

Diagnostic accuracy of color Doppler in diagnosis of Hepatocellular carcinoma taking histopathology as gold standard

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the fifth most common cancer in the world and the third most common cause of cancer mortality. Despite the high numbers of patients diagnosed worldwide, HCC continues to pose challenging clinical problems. Good-quality ultra sound with careful evaluation of the entire liver can be a screening examination for HCC in patients at risk. The aim of the study was to determine the diagnostic accuracy of the Doppler sonography for differentiation of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) from other focal liver lesions by taking histopathology as a gold standard. It was a cross-sectional survey, conducted in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, King Edward Medical University/Mayo Hospital, Lahore in one year from 13-12-2010 to 12-12-2011. A total of 70 patients were included in this study with focal lesions on ultrasound are included while pregnant patients are excluded. After evaluating by Doppler sonography and doing core biopsy, the patients were sent to the Department of Pathology, Mayo Hospital for histopathological examination. Histopathology was assessed for confirmation of positive and negative cases. Mean age of the patients was 60.9 ± 4.7 years. Out of 70 patients, 47 patients (67.1%) were male while remaining 23 patients (32.9%) were female. On Doppler sonography 37 cases were positive for hepatocellular carcinoma and 33 cases were negative while 36 cases were positive and 34 negative on histopathology. On Doppler sonography, sensitivity (94.4%), specificity (91.1%), diagnostic accuracy (92.8%), positive predictive value (91.8%) and negative predictive value was 93.9%. We concluded that Doppler sonography is a useful method for differen- tiation of Hepatocellular carcinoma from other focal liver lesions, detection and characterization of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Intervarietal Variation in Proximate Composition and Antioxidant Potential of Dry Peas （Pisum sativum L）

The present research work was carried out to investigate the proximate composition and antioxidant capacities of newly invented varieties of dry peas. The proximate composition in terms of moisture （7.00-8.50%）, ash （3.85-4.97%）, fiber （3.8-12.3%） and protein （17.3-18.8%） contents varied significantly with respect to various cultivars. Total phenolic contents （TPC）, total flavonoids contents （TFC）, percentage inhibition of peroxidation of linoleic acid system, reducing power and DPPH free radical scavenging capacity of different dry peas extracts were found in range of 0.651-0.684 g/100g of GAE, 0.021-0.041 g/100g of CE, 0.713-0.895, 40.051-84.608%, 18.097-24.591 mg/mL, respectively. The amount of TFC, and percent inhibition of per oxidation in linoleic system of different dry peas extracts varied significantly among various cultivars and solvents. From the results of present investigations it is reasonable to say that 80% methanolic extracts of dry peas have exhibited varying degree of antioxidant activity.

Somatic embryogenesis in wild relatives of cotton (Gossypium Spp.)

Wild cotton species can contribute a valuable gene pool for agronomically desirable cultivated tetraploid cultivars. In order to exploit diploid cotton a regeneration system is required to achieve transformation based goals. The present studies aimed at optimizing the conditions for regeneration of local varieties as well as wild species of cotton. Different callus induction media were tested with varying concentrations of hormones in which sucrose was used as nutritional source. Different explants (hypo-cotyls, cotyledon, root) were used to check the regeneration of both local cotton plants and wild relatives using T & G medium, BAP medium, CIM medium, EMMS medium, and cell suspension medium. Different stages of embryogenicity such as early torpedo stage, late torpedo stage, heart stage, globular stage and cotyledonary stage were observed in wild relatives of cotton. The results of this study pave the way for establishing future transformation methods.

Cotton is an economically important natural fiber in the world, whose seeds are used as food and fiber used in the manufacturing of textiles. Cotton is naturally a renewable synthetic fiber which is derived from petroleum. Restriction in conventional breeding program to hereditary change may be because of those of information something like yield revenue and fiber quality of traits. Vitally, the genome representation of the cotton for various traits is the basic need for breeding purposes. The present review discusses the issues of conventional breeding and genomics resources & efforts are utilized to enhance the yield of cotton.

Growth Performance,Physicochemical Properties of Meat of Broiler Chicken’s Supplemented with Bacillus pumilus

This study examined that the efficiency of Bacillus pumilus(BP)on growth performance and meat quality of broiler chickens.A total of day old 240 male broiler chicks were purchased from local hatchery *** chicks were allocated into four groups with six replicates of 10 birds in each *** diets were prepared for experiment,which included control as basal diet,BP-0.1(CONT+0.1%BP),BP-0.2(CONT+0.2%BP)and AGP(CONT+zinc bacitracin 20 ppm)as antibiotic growth *** results showed that live body weight(LBW),average daily gain was recorded higher(P<0.01)in birds fed diet with BP-0.1 than control and BP-0.2 groups,as well as ADFI also increased in BP-0.1 than control ***-0.1 supplementation significantly reduced feed conversion ratio(FCR)than other groups(P<0.01).Both moisture and crude protein(CP)content influenced by supplementation of BP-0.1 than other ***,birds fed diet with BP-0.1 had least fat content in breast meat compared with the other groups(P<0.01).In addition,BP-0.1probiotic-fed birds had the lowest(P<0.01)pH,cooking loss(CL)and drip loss(DL)as compared to control,BP-0.2 and AGP *** water holding capacity(WHC)were found higher in BP-0.1 as compared to other groups(P<0.01).In conclusion,Bacillus pumilus probiotic supplementation is a promising approach for substitution of antibiotics in broiler diet for enhancement of growth performance and physiochemical properties of meat.
