Multimodal medical image fusion has attained immense popularity in recent years due to its robust technology for clinical *** fuses multiple images into a single image to improve the quality of images by retaining significant information and aiding diagnostic practitioners in diagnosing and treating many ***,recent image fusion techniques have encountered several challenges,including fusion artifacts,algorithm complexity,and high computing *** solve these problems,this study presents a novel medical image fusion strategy by combining the benefits of pixel significance with edge-preserving processing to achieve the best fusion ***,the method employs a cross-bilateral filter(CBF)that utilizes one image to determine the kernel and the other for filtering,and vice versa,by considering both geometric closeness and the gray-level similarities of neighboring pixels of the images without smoothing *** outputs of CBF are then subtracted from the original images to obtain detailed *** further proposes to use edge-preserving processing that combines linear lowpass filtering with a non-linear technique that enables the selection of relevant regions in detailed images while maintaining structural *** regions are selected using morphologically processed linear filter residuals to identify the significant regions with high-amplitude edges and adequate *** outputs of low-pass filtering are fused with meaningfully restored regions to reconstruct the original shape of the *** addition,weight computations are performed using these reconstructed images,and these weights are then fused with the original input images to produce a final fusion result by estimating the strength of horizontal and vertical *** standard quality evaluation metrics with complementary properties are used for comparison with existing,well-known algorithms objectively to validate the fusion *** results from th

BACKGROUND The incidence of diabetes mellitus type 1(DM1)has been rising worldwide because of improvements in diagnostic techniques and improved access to care in countries with lower socioeconomic status.A new anti-CD4 antibody,Teplizumab,has been shown to delay the progression of DM1 and is the only medication approved for this ***,more information is needed about the safety profile of this *** To identify the odds ratios(OR)of systems-based adverse effects for Teplizumab when compared to *** An extensive systematic review was conducted from the inception of the medication until December 31,*** clinical trials and studies that evaluated Teplizumab vs placebo were included in the initial *** study protocol was designed using Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines guidelines and was registered in PROSPERO(ID:CRD42024496169).Crude OR were generated using RevMan Software version *** After screening and review,5 studies were selected to determine the risk of adverse effects of teplizumab compared to placebo.A total of 561 patients were included in the study *** adverse effects and system-based adverse effects were studied and *** determined that patients receiving Teplizumab had a higher risk of developing gastrointestinal(GI)(OR=1.60,95%CI:1.01-2.52,P=0.04),dermatological(OR=6.33,95%CI:4.05-9.88,P<0.00001)and hematological adverse effects(OR=19.03,95%CI:11.09-32.66,P<0.00001).These patients were also significantly likely to have active Epstein-Barr Virus infection(OR=3.16,95%CI:1.51-6.64,P<0.002).While our data showed that patients receiving Teplizumab did have a higher incidence of total adverse effects vs placebo,this finding did not reach statistical significance(OR=2.25,95%CI:0.80-6.29,P=0.12).CONCLUSION Our systematic review suggests that Teplizumab patients are at risk for significant adverse effects,primarily related to GI,dermatological,and hematolog

An Improved Lung Cancer Segmentation Based on Nature-Inspired Optimization Approaches

The distinction and precise identification of tumor nodules are crucial for timely lung cancer diagnosis andplanning intervention. This research work addresses the major issues pertaining to the field of medical imageprocessing while focusing on lung cancer Computed Tomography (CT) images. In this context, the paper proposesan improved lung cancer segmentation technique based on the strengths of nature-inspired approaches. Thebetter resolution of CT is exploited to distinguish healthy subjects from those who have lung cancer. In thisprocess, the visual challenges of the K-means are addressed with the integration of four nature-inspired swarmintelligent techniques. The techniques experimented in this paper are K-means with Artificial Bee Colony (ABC),K-means with Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA), K-means with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), and Kmeanswith Firefly Algorithm (FFA). The testing and evaluation are performed on Early Lung Cancer ActionProgram (ELCAP) database. The simulation analysis is performed using lung cancer images set against metrics:precision, sensitivity, specificity, f-measure, accuracy,Matthews Correlation Coefficient (MCC), Jaccard, and *** detailed evaluation shows that the K-means with Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA) significantly improved thequality of lung cancer segmentation in comparison to the other optimization approaches utilized for lung cancerimages. The results exhibit that the proposed approach (K-means with CSA) achieves precision, sensitivity, and Fmeasureof 0.942, 0.964, and 0.953, respectively, and an average accuracy of 93%. The experimental results prove thatK-meanswithABC,K-meanswith PSO,K-meanswith FFA, andK-meanswithCSAhave achieved an improvementof 10.8%, 13.38%, 13.93%, and 15.7%, respectively, for accuracy measure in comparison to K-means segmentationfor lung cancer images. A randomized controlled trial on triamcinolone versus saline impregnated merocel post endoscopic sinus surgery: Our experience in a tertiary care centre

Purpose: To assess the potential benefit of impregnating Merocel (a non-absorbable nasal dressing) with a topical steroid solution, for use as a direct and slow local delivery system of steroids after sinus surgery to improve postoperative wound ***: In this randomized controlled trial, 40 patients with bilateral chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis were subjected to functional endoscopic sinus surgery. Following the completion of the surgery, Merocel packs were inserted in the bilateral nasal cavities and infiltrated with 4 mL triamcinolone (40 mg/mL) in one nasal cavity (treatment group) and 4 mL normal saline in the other (control group). Nasal packs were removed on the third postoperative day and postoperative healing assessment was done on postoperative Weeks 1, 2, 4, and 12. The findings were noted as per Lund Kennedy (LKES) and perioperative sinus endoscopy (POSE) scores and compared on both ***: Significant (P < 0.05) improvement was noted in Lund Kennedy score for crusting and polyp at Week 12, for edema at Week 1, and nasal discharge at Weeks 1 and 12, but there was no significant improvement in scarring at any week. Overall, the difference between the treatment and control arms was statistically significant at all postoperative visits except at Week 4. Also, there was a significant improvement in POSE scores at Weeks 1, 2, and 12 but not at Week ***: This study positively concludes that the nasal cavity packed with drug-soaked packs had less scarring and edema in the postoperative period and the overall wound healing was much better as compared to saline-soaked packs.

The Criteria for Reducing Centrally Restricted Three-Body Problem to Two-Body Problem

Our Solar System contains eight planets and their respective natural satellites excepting the inner two planets Mercury and Venus. A satellite hosted by a given Planet is well protected by the gravitational pertubation of much heavier planets such as Jupiter and Saturn if the natural satellite lies deep inside the respective host Planet Hill sphere. Each planet has a Hill radius aH and planet mean radius RP and the ratio R1=RP/aH. Under very low R1 (less than 0.006) the approximation of CRTBP (centrally restricted three-body problem) to two-body problem is valid and planet has spacious Hill lobe to capture a satellite and retain it. This ensures a high probability of capture of natural satellite by the given planet and Sun’s perturbation on Planet-Satellite binary can be neglected. This is the case with Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus. But Mercury and Venus has R1=RP/aH =0.01 and 5.9862 × 10-3 respectively hence they have no satellites. There is a limit to the dimension of the captured body. It must be a much smaller body both dimensionally as well masswise. The qantitative limit is a subject of an independent study.
