由酸活化的高岭土制备了多级纳米孔HY分子筛.通过改变老化时间和晶化时间可得到最大的多级因子(HF),此时外比表面积最大而微孔孔体积变化不大.运用X射线衍射(XRD)、X射线荧光光谱、N2吸附-脱附法和NH3程序升温脱附对所得样品进行了表征.老化2d和晶化24h所制的纳米孔HY分子筛样品的HF值最大.样品的酸性和结晶度也随着制备条件而变化.另外,适量NaCl的嵌入对提高对所制样品的HF值、酸性和结晶度起到重要作用.通过比较样品和常规HY分子筛的XRD峰强度算得样品的结晶度.结果表明,优化合成条件可得到广泛适用于工业化的分子筛制备路线.

DEAR EDITOR,In this study, we sequenced the complete mitochondrial genome （mitogenome） of the Thai Red Junglefowl （RJF; Gallus gallus） using the next-generation sequencing （NGS） platform of the Ion Torrent PGM. Samples were taken from Mae Wang District, Chiang Mai Province, northern Thailand Our data showed the complete mitogenome to be 16 785 bp in length, composed by 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes, and one control region. The genome nucleotide composition was 30.3% A, 23.7% T, 32.5% C, and 13.5% G, resulting in a high percentage of A＋T （50.4%）. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the mitogenome belonged to haplogroup X, whereas those of all domestic chickens belong to haplogroups A to G. This newly released mitogenome sequence will advance further evolutionary and population genetics study of the RJF and domestic chicken The availability of the G. gallus mitogenome will also contribute to further conservation genetics research of a unique species, listed as ＇data deficient＇ in Thailand.

The fingerprints and face recognition are two biometric processes that comprise methods for uniquely recognizing humans based on certain number of intrinsic physical or behavioral *** objectives of the study were to predict the facial height(FH),facial width,and ratios from thumbprints ridge count and its possible *** was a cross-sectional study.A total of 457 participants were recruited.A fingerprint live scanner was used to capture the plain *** facial photograph was captured using a digital ***’s correlation analysis was used for the relationship between thumbprint ridge density and facial linear ***‑wise linear multiple regression analysis was used to predict facial distances from thumbprint ridge *** result showed that in males the right ulnar ridge count correlates negatively with lower facial width(LFW),upper facial width/upper FH(UFW/UFH),lower FH/FH(LFH/FH),and positively with UFH and UFW/*** right and left proximal ridge counts correlate with LFW and UFH,*** males,the right ulnar ridge count predicts LFW,UFW/LFW,UFW/UFH,and LFH/*** upper face height I,LFW,height of lower third of the face,UFW/LFW was predicted by right radial ridge ***,height of lower third of the face,and LFH/FH were predicted from left ulnar ridge count whereas left proximal ridge count predicted *** females only,the special upper face height I was predicted by right ulnar ridge *** conclusion,thumbprint ridge counts can be used to predict FH,width,ratios among Hausa *** possible application of fingerprints in facial characterization for used in human biology,paleodemography,and forensic science was demonstrated.

多年来,气候变化引起的不利影响愈加明显,部分原因是发展中国家如尼日利亚等对废弃物处置的监管不到位。本文使用顶燃式上升气流反应器在417.2℃下煅烧鸡毛生成富含金属氧化物(MOR)的生物炭,产率为28.19%。通过采用Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET)、扫描电子显微镜(SEM)、傅里叶变换红外光谱(FTIR)、X射线衍射(XRD)、能量色散光谱(EDS)和X射线荧光光谱(XRF)进行试验表征。结果表明试样拥有介孔微结构(孔径为2.132nm),BET比表面积为105.7m^(2)/g。扫描电子显微镜图像清晰表明CaO(质量占比33.147%)和SO_(3)(质量占比25.673%)是材料表面的主要氧化物。原始样品的主要元素是氧(质量占比36.917%)和钙(质量占比23.690%),主要矿物是石英、海钠石、石墨等。本文阐明了这是成功制备吸附剂和前驱体材料的有效回收路径。

BACKGROUND Neuropathy is a common complication of diabetes mellitus resulting from direct damage by hyperglycemia to the nerves and/or ischemia by microvascular injury to the endoneurial vessels which supply the nerves. Median nerve is one of the peripheral nerves commonly affected in diabetic neuropathy. The median nerve size has been studied in non-Nigerian diabetic populations. In attempt to contribute to existing literature, a study in a Nigerian population is *** To evaluate the cross-sectional area(CSA) of the median nerve using B-mode ultrasonography(USS) and the presence of peripheral neuropathy(PN) in a cohort of adult diabetic *** Demographic and anthropometric data of 85 adult diabetes mellitus(DM) and 85 age-and sex-matched apparently healthy control(HC) subjects were taken. A complete physical examination was performed on all study subjects to determine the presence of PN and modified Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument(MNSI) was used to grade its severity. Venous blood was taken from the study subjects for fasting lipid profile(FLP), fasting blood glucose(FBG) and glycated haemoglobin(HbA1 c) while their MN CSA was evaluated at a point 5 cm proximal to(5 cmCATL) and at the carpal tunnel(CATL) by high-resolution Bmode USS. Data was analysed using SPSS version *** The mean MN CSA was significantly thicker in DM subjects compared to the HC at 5 cmCATL(P 0.05). However, the severity of DPN had no additional effect on MN CSA 5 cm proximal to and at the CATL. River flooding has become a widely distributed and devastating natural disaster that has caused significant damages both economically and socially in Nigeria. Although, the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMet) are always on time to provide flood warnings prior to flood disasters, spatial information pertaining to the areal extent vulnerable to the hazard are not usually made available. This study focuses on the application of geospatial techniques and quantitative research method for the assessment and analysis of flood risk and vulnerability assessment along the River Benue Basin of Kogi State. Digital Elevation Model (DEM) and Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) images for 2010, 2014 and 2018 were used. These images were processed, digitized, interpolated, classified, overlaid and buffered using the ArcMap 10.3.1 GIS software to generate classified land use/cover maps, topographic map and flood physical vulnerability maps. Household questionnaires which contained structured questions were distributed and obtained to analyse the social-economic vulnerability of the study area using descriptive analysis. The study revealed that areas within 6-kilometre buffer from the River Benue are most vulnerable to flood hazard with the vulnerability decreasing towards the southern part. The two urban areas in the study area (Abejukolo and Oguma) are vulnerable to flood threat. Abejukolo is vulnerable due to high water footprint in the town and its surroundings. The factors that increase flood vulnerability of the inhabitants are low elevation, high illiteracy rate, high numbers of dependent population, poverty, low quality housing, poor land use and planning, inadequacy or absence of risk communication tools. The study recommends the development of guidelines for land use, continuous vulnerability mapping of the study area especially in the flood risk probability months (April to October), construction of dams to contain release water from the upstream, collaboration of NEMA with the

The physico-chemical water quality of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching and Research Farm Lake, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, was studied over an annual cycle (September 2006 to August 2007) almost 40 years after its impoundment in 1967. This was with a view to obtaining the then current state of physico-chemical water quality parameters with their variations in time and space as well as using some of the data obtained to evaluate the aging process of the lake for the 40 years of its existence. There was no significant (p > 0.05) horizontal variation (i.e. upstream-dowstream) in the physico-chemical characteristics of the lake whereas, Apparent-color, True color, Turbidity, Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Total Solids (TS) and Total Acidity increased significantly (p < 0.05) from the lake surface towards the bottom of the lake. On the other hand, water pH, Dissolved Oxygen (DO);Dissolved Oxygen Saturation (DO% Sat.) and Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5) decreased significantly (p < 0.05) from the lake surface towards the bottom of the lake. Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Dissolved Oxygen Saturation (DO% Sat.) and Nitrate ion (NO-3) were significantly higher (p < 0.05) in the dry season than in the rainy season while, True colour, pH, Conductivity, Total Hardness, Calcium ion (Ca2+), Magnesium ion (Mg2+), Potassium ion (K+) and Sulphate ion (SO2-4) were significantly higher (p < 0.05) in the rainy season than in the dry season. The lake water could be regarded as shallow, coloured, turbid, less transparent, slightly acidic, soft and well-buffered fresh-waterbodies with evidence of aging (i.e. transforming the lake from an oligotrophic status to a eutrophic waterbody). The results indicated that the lake is suitable for most of its applications with little or no adjustments as the case may be;except probably for drinking purposes where some microbial analysis may be necessary.

This research assessed empirically the quantitative analysis of some selected food imports of Nigeria (rice, wheat and sugar). Time series data were used to examine the determinant of total food imports and the trend in the quantity of the food imported. The secondary data were obtained from institutional and national database over 1981-2010. Descriptive statistics, regression and correlation analysis were used as analytical tools. Statistical analysis shows that food deficit began in the 1970’s, when Nigeria started the importation of food to feed the country. The result of the correlation analysis shows that the postulated determinants of food imports were positively correlated with the quantity of food import. The test for the individual variables shows that;national income explains 40%, external reserves explains 38%, food production index explains 46%, population explains 58% and exchange rate explains 74% of the total variation in the quantity of food import. The over-all goodness of fit of the regression analysis result shows that, the postulated regressors namely, relative price, national income, external reserves, lagged index of domestic food production, population estimate and exchange rate explained approximately 70% of the variability in the quantity of the selected food imports for the period of study. Consequently, there is the need for Nigeria to shift base from the ideology of nationalist orientation, as well as afro centric point of view and move towards unrestrained export-led growth that seeks to develop that market as the first option with corresponding development in international trade. Objective: To determine the levels of some selected heavy metals in both the selected anti-diabetic herbal plants and infused concoctions for diabetes ***: Ten anti-diabetic plant samples: pawpaw leaves(Carica papaya), bitter melon leaves(Momordica charantia), holy basil leaves(Ocimum sanctum), bitter leaf(Vernonia amygdalina), ginger rhizome(Zingiber officinale), garlic(Allium sativum), African red pepper fruits(Capsicum frutescens), negro pepper grain(Xylopia aethiopica), cashew leaves(Anacardium occidentale) and onion bulb(Allium cepa) were evaluated for heavy metals. These were digested using standard methods and analyzed for manganese, copper,nickel, chromium, zinc, cadmium and lead using atomic absorption *** infused concoctions(I and II) prepared from these medicinal herbs administered to diabetic patients were also analyzed for these heavy metals. Concoction I contained all the plants and honey with the exception of Momordica charantia and Ocimum sanctum which constituted concoction II with water only. The data obtained were subject to descriptive(mean and standard deviation) and inferential(ANOVA and DMRT)***: Chromium and nickel levels were below detection limits in concoction I while manganese [(0.11 ± 0.01) μg/g] and zinc [(0.09 ± 0.01) μg/g] were detected in concoction II. Honey contained manganese [(0.10 ± 0.01) μg/g] and nickel [(0.70 ± 0.01) μg/g]. The anti-diabetic medicinal herbs and infused concoctions(I and II) were observed to contain heavy metals below the compared ***: The study thus shows that the herbs and concoctions are safe from the heavy metals considered. However, right dosage of the anti-diabetic concoctions should always be considered to prevent possible chronic side effects from bio-accumulation of heavy metals.
