Comparative study of haematological,serum electrolyte and nonelectrolyte parameters of male and female Persian sturgeon(Acipenser persicus)brood stocks

Sturgeons are the most important principal market species in the Caspian Sea. In the present study, measurement of blood parameters was carried out with the aim of evaluating the normal value of hematological and serum biochemical parameters of brood stocks Acipenser persicus during spawning season. Blood samples were collected from 36 brood stocks of A. persicus（18 males and 18 females） during the spawning season. Higher value of red blood cells, white blood cells, haemoglobin, haematocrit was observed in male breeders with significant differences between female breeders（p〉0.05）. Haemoglobin and haematocrit value in this study was within the range of 8.70 to 9.2 g/d L and 29.73% to 30.26%, respectively. The statistically significant differences between mean corpuscular volumes, mean corpuscular haemoglobin, lymphocyte and neutrophil percentages, aspartate aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase and creatine kinase were observed in the male and female brood *** is concluded from this study, some of the hematological and serum biochemical parameters of male and female A. persicus breeders were significantly varied from each other. In comparative investigation with earlier reports,the values of red blood cells, haemoglobin and haematocrit are highly varied due to age variations of ***, further studies are necessary to understand the impact of sexual, age, size, length, and season and habitat variation. Serum biochemical parameters can be used for confirming the maturity of A. persicus and monitoring any changes in the water quality parameters and soil.

Anticancer activity of Cyanothece sp. strain extracts from Egypt: First record

Objective:To assess the anticancer activity of eight cyanobacterial hydrophilic extracts on Ehrlich ascites carcinoma cell ***:The cyanobacterial strains used in the investigation were collected from diverse habitats in *** initial cytotoxicity test of cyanobacterial hydrophilic extracts was carried out by MTT *** in vitro anticancer activity of the four most active extracts was performed on MCF-7 cells using sulforhodamine B *** and molecular techniques were used to characterise identity of the isolate from which the most potent cytotoxic extract was ***:Extracts from four cyanobacterial strains had higher cytotoxic activities scoring76.68%,77.70%,76.70%and 74.45%,respectively.A considerable anticancer effect was only detected when the concentrated extracts were *** cyanobacterial extract gave the highest anticancer activity on human breast adenocarcinoma cell line(57.6%of inhibition)as compared to *** isolate was best-matched to Cyanothece *** sequence resemblance 98%to Cyanothece *** PCC7564 and the phylogenetic analysis confirmed its close identity to the Cyanothece ***:This is the first study to report the anticancer effect of aqueous extracts derived from the unicellular Cyanothece *** Egypt and its potential as a plausible candidate for future mass biotechnological applications.

Learning from imbalanced data is one of the greatest challenging problems in binary classification,and this problem has gained more importance in recent *** the class distribution is imbalanced,classical machine learning algorithms tend to move strongly towards the majority class and disregard the ***,the accuracy may be high,but the model cannot recognize data instances in the minority class to classify them,leading to many *** methods have been proposed in the literature to handle the imbalance problem,but most are complicated and tend to simulate unnecessary *** this paper,we propose a simple oversampling method based on Multivariate Gaussian distribution and K-means clustering,called *** new method aims to avoid generating noise and control imbalances between and within *** experiments have been carried out with six classifiers and four oversampling *** results on different imbalanced datasets show that the proposed GK-Means outperforms other oversampling methods and improves classification performance as measured by F1-score and Accuracy.

Face Recognition Based on Gabor Feature Extraction Followed by FastICA and LDA

Over the past few decades,face recognition has become the most effective biometric technique in recognizing people’s identity,as it is widely used in many areas of our daily ***,it is a challenging technique since facial images vary in rotations,expressions,and *** minimize the impact of these challenges,exploiting information from various feature extraction methods is recommended since one of the most critical tasks in face recognition system is the extraction of facial ***,this paper presents a new approach to face recognition based on the fusion of Gabor-based feature extraction,Fast Independent Component Analysis(FastICA),and Linear Discriminant Analysis(LDA).In the presented method,first,face images are transformed to grayscale and resized to have a uniform *** that,facial features are extracted from the aligned face image using Gabor,FastICA,and LDA ***,the nearest distance classifier is utilized to recognize the identity of the ***,the performance of six distance classifiers,namely Euclidean,Cosine,Bray-Curtis,Mahalanobis,Correlation,and Manhattan,are *** results revealed that the presented method attains a higher rank-one recognition rate compared to the recent approaches in the literature on four benchmarked face datasets:ORL,GT,FEI,and ***,it showed that the proposed method not only helps in better extracting the features but also in improving the overall efficiency of the facial recognition system.

A Fully Adaptive Active Queue Management Method for Congestion Prevention at the Router Buffer

Active queue management(AQM)methods manage the queued packets at the router buffer,prevent buffer congestion,and stabilize the network *** bursty nature of the traffic passing by the network routers and the slake behavior of the existing AQM methods leads to unnecessary packet *** paper proposes a fully adaptive active queue management(AAQM)method to maintain stable network performance,avoid congestion and packet loss,and eliminate unnecessary packet *** proposed AAQM method is based on load and queue length indicators and uses an adaptive mechanism to adjust the dropping probability based on the buffer *** proposed AAQM method adapts to single and multiclass traffic *** simulation results over two types of traffic showed that the proposed method achieved the best results compared to the existing methods,including Random Early Detection(RED),BLUE,Effective RED(ERED),Fuzzy RED(FRED),Fuzzy Gentle RED(FGRED),and Fuzzy BLUE(FBLUE).The proposed and compared methods achieved similar results with low or moderate traffic ***,under high traffic load,the proposed AAQM method achieved the best rate of zero loss,similar to BLUE,compared to 0.01 for RED,0.27 for ERED,0.04 for FRED,0.12 for FGRED,and 0.44 for *** throughput,the proposed AAQM method achieved the highest rate of 0.54,surpassing the BLUE method’s throughput of *** delay,the proposed AAQM method achieved the second-best delay of 28.51,while the BLUE method achieved the best delay of 13.18;however,the BLUE results are insufficient because of the low ***,the proposed AAQM method outperformed the compared methods with its superior throughput and acceptable delay.

Dynamics of CO_2 Emission and Biochemical Properties of a Sandy Calcareous Soil Amended with Conocarpus Waste and Biochar

Biochar is a carbon-rich product obtained by biomass pyrolysis and considered a mean of carbon sequestration. In this research, a sandy calcareous soil from the Farm of the College of Food & Agriculture Sciences, King Saud University, Saudi Arabia, was amended with either woody waste of Conocarpus erectus L.(CW) or the biochar(BC) produced from CW at rates of 0(control), 10, 30 and 50 g kg-1. The effects of the amendments on soil p H, dissolved organic carbon(DOC), microbial biomass carbon(MBC), CO2 emission and metabolic quotient(q CO2) of the sandy calcareous soil were studied in a 60-d incubation experiment. The results showed that the addition of CW led to a significant decrease in soil p H compared to the control and the addition of BC. The CO2-C emission rate was higher in the first few days of incubation than when the incubation time progressed. The cumulative CO2-C emission from the soil amended with CW, especially at higher rates, was higher(approximately 3- to 6-fold) than that from the control and the soil amended with BC. The BC-amended soil showed significant increases in CO2-C emission rate during the first days of incubation as compared to the non-amended soil, but the increase in cumulative CO2-C emission was not significant after 60 d of incubation. On the other hand, CW applications resulted in considerably higher cumulative CO2-C emission, MBC and DOC than the control and BC applications. With the exception of 0 day(after 1 h of incubation), both CW and BC applications led to lower values of q CO2 as compared to the control. The power function kinetic model satisfactorily described the cumulative CO2-C emission. Generally, the lowest values of CO2 emission were observed in the soil with BC, suggesting that the contribution of BC to CO2 emission was very small as compared to that of CW.
