Blasting of rocks has intrinsic environmental impacts such as ground vibration,which can interfere with the safety of lives and ***,accurate prediction of the environmental impacts of blasting is imperative as the empirical models are not accurate as evident in the ***,there is need to consider some robust predictive models for accurate prediction *** expression programming(GEP),adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system(ANFIS),and sine cosine algorithm optimized artificial neural network(SCA-ANN)models are proposed for predicting the blast-initiated ground vibration in five granite *** input parameters into the models are the distance from the point of blasting to the point of measurement(D),the weight of charge per delay(W),rock density(q),and the Schmidt rebound hardness(SRH)value while peak particle velocity(PPV)is the targeted output.100 datasets were used in developing the proposed *** performance of the proposed models was examined using the coefficient of determination(R2)and error *** R2 values obtained for the GEP,ANFIS,and SCA-ANN models are 0.989,0.997,and 0.999,respectively,while their errors are close to *** proposed models are compared with an empirical model and are found to outperform the empirical model.

The elemental composition of coal and biomass provides significant parameters used in the design of almost all energy conversion systems and *** laboratory tests to determine the elemental composition of coal and biomass is time-consuming and ***,limited research has suggested that there is a correlation between parameters obtained from elemental and proximate analyses of these *** this study,some predictive models of the elemental composition of coal and biomass using soft computing and regression analyses have been ***-one samples including parameters of elemental and proximate analyses were used during the analyses to develop multiple prediction *** variables for multiple prediction models were selected as carbon,hydrogen,and *** volatile matter,fixed carbon,moisture and ash contents as independent variables,three different prediction models were developed for each dependent parameter using ANFIS,ANN,and *** addition,a routine for selecting the best predictive model was suggested in the *** reliability of the established models was tested by using various prediction performance indices and the models were found to be ***,the developed models can be used to determine the elemental composition of coal and biomass for practical purposes.

This research examines optimization of blasting parameters for economic production of granite aggregates in Ratcon and NSCE quarries located atIbadan,OyoState. Samples were collected from the study areas for the determination of rock density and porosity. Schmidt hammer was used for in situ determination of rock hardness. Uniaxial compressive strength of in situ rock was estimated from the values obtained from Schmidt hammer rebound hardness test and density determined from laboratory test. Blasting data were collected from the study areas for optimization. Multiple regression analysis using computer aided solution SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) was used to analyse data obtained from the laboratory test, field test and the study areas. The estimated mean uniaxial compressive strength value of NSCE is 240 MPa and that of Ratcon is 200 MPa and their average densities and average porosities are2.63g/cm3,2.55g/cm3, 1.88% and 2.25% respectively. Eleven parameters were input into the multiple regression analysis to generate the models. Two parameters out of eleven input parameters such as geometric volume of blast (Y1) and number of boulders generated after blasting (Y2) were dependent variables and the remaining nine such as X1 (Drill hole diameter), X2 (Drill hole depth), X3 (Spacing), X4 (Burden), X5 (Average charge per hole), X6 (Rock density), X7 (Porosity), X8 (Uniaxial compressive strength) and X9 (Specific charge) were input as independent variables. The results of the models show that out of the nine independent variables seven of them that is X1 (Borehole diameter), X2 (Borehole depth), X3 (Spacing), X4 (Burden), X5 (Average charge per hole), X8 (Uniaxial compressive strength) and X9 (Specific charge) have significant contribution to the models while X6 (Rock Density) and X7 (Porosity) have insignificant contribution they are therefore automatically deleted by the SPSS. This study comprehensively evaluates the integration and effectiveness of green mining technologies within the mining sector,specifically focusing on mitigating the environmental impact of traditional mining *** primary goal is to establish a sustainable mining model that significantly reduces energy consumption and minimizes ecological *** achieve this,the study employs a mixed-method approach,integrating quantitative data analysis from monitored mining sites and qualitative insights from industry *** parameters include energy consumption,greenhouse gas emissions,and reductions in chemical *** findings reveal that effective integration of green mining technologies leads to significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions,lower energy consumption,and improved waste management compared to traditional ***,the use of electric vehicles and renewable energy sources in mining operations has resulted in decreased carbon emissions and energy usage across studied *** research concludes that green mining practices,when supported by robust technological integration and regulatory frameworks,not only enhance environmental sustainability but also boost economic efficiency within the mining *** study recommends increased investment in the research and development of green technologies and calls for tighter regulatory oversight to ensure the widespread adoption and optimization of these practices.

The advent of Islam in Ibadan, in about 1829, was made possible by the arrival of some Muslim scholars from the Northern part of the country. They were Igun Olorun, Ahmad Qifu and Uthman Baasunu who respectively became the first three Imams in the city. For the spread of the faith, these Mallams and their indigenous disciples adopted education and preaching methods. For education, they established Qur＇anic schools in almost all quarters and villages where people were taught Arabic language to enable them perform the ritual worship. These schools were later upgraded to Madaris where standard Arabic education and culture are taught up till the present. As for preaching （da＇wah）, open air services were organized where fundamentals of Islam viz.： Tawhid, Salat, Sawm, Zakat and Hajj were taught. Other ones include good neighborliness, duties of parents to children and vice versa as dictated by the Islamic law （Shari＇ah）.

Reports of avian malaria parasites in village chicken in Nigeria generally remain fragmentary and *** study was conducted in Gombe Local Government Area of Gombe State,Nigeria to investigate avian malaria parasites in Village Chickens(Gallus gallus domesticus)and to determine the risk factors associated with the prevalence of the haemoparasites.A total of 530 village chickens blood samples were obtained from apparently healthy village chickens'brachial veins using sterile 2mls syringes and 23 gauge *** blood smear was made from each blood sample,and Giemsa stained and examined for the presence of avian haemoparasites under an *** result indicates 23.8%overall prevalence rate of three species of avian malaria parasites consisting of Plasmodium,Haemoproteus and Leucocytozoon *** *** the highest prevalent rate of 13.0%followed by Haemoproteus spp.(5.1%),mixed Plasmodium spp.+Haemoproteus spp.(4.9%)infection and Leucocytozoon spp.(0.8%).Prevalence of avian malaria parasites was significantly higher in cocks compared to hens(p<0.05),as well as higher in adults compared to growers chickens(p<0.05).This study also showed a higher prevalence of avian malaria parasites during the rainy season compared to the dry season of the study *** was concluded that haemoparasites of Plasmodium,Haemoproteus and Leucocytozoon species that occur in both single and mixed infections are prevalent among village chickens that are apparently healthy in Gombe Local Government Area of Gombe State,Nigeria.

Climate Change Impact on Sub-Surface Hydrology of Kaduna River Catchment

This paper applied the use of a stochastic weather generator at the site of a hydrological model to simulate the impact of climate change on the sub-surface hydrological response of Kaduna River as a basis for a sustainable ground water development plan. Average time series of rainfall, temperature and gauge height observed readings were downscaled to the watershed flow volume and applied as forcing to simulate the ground water response as spatially lumped, ignoring the heterogeneous nature of the ground water aquifer. Future simulations indicate increase in base flow, ground storage and decrease soil storage throughout the summer and autumn months for the catchment.

Background: In Nigeria, adolescents and young people (AYP) aged 10 - 24, comprise 22.3% of the population and with HIV prevalence of 3.5%. The AYP living with HIV enrolled at the 68 NARHY, Lagos reflects the national challenges with poor viral suppression. The OTZ program aligns with the UNAIDS 95-95-95 goals. It seeks to empower AYPLHIV to be in charge of their treatment and commit to triple zero outcomeszero missed appointments, zero missed drugs, and zero viral loads. The purpose of the study was to assess the impact of the OTZ program on viral load suppression among members of the adolescent club in 68 NARHY, Lagos. Method: A cross-sectional retrospective study to evaluate the impact of the OTZ program on the viral load of 53 AYP enrolled in the OTZ program between March 2019 to December 2019 was analyzed. The Percentage of viral load suppression before enrollment compared with 6 and 12 months after enrollment into the OTZ program. The AYP is grouped into 10 - 14, 15 - 19, and 20 - 24 years. Activities conducted were peer driven monthly meetings with the AYP during which the adolescents interacted on issues relating to improving their treatment outcomes, healthcare workers reviewed their clinical status, viral load result, provider peer counseling, and caregivers engagement to support adherence to medication and ARV refills. Results: Before OTZ, 81% aged 10 - 14 years, 75% aged 15 - 19 years, and 25% aged 20 - 24 years were virally suppressed (VL less than 1000 copies/ml). Six months after enrollment, 94% were virally suppressed95% aged 10 - 14 years, 96% aged 15 - 19 years, and 66% aged 20-24 years. Twelve months after enrollment, 96% of AYP were virally suppressed100% aged 10-14 years, 93% aged 15 - 19 years, and 100% aged 20 - 24 years. Males viral load (VL) suppression improved from 79% to 96% and 92%, while females VL suppression improved from 69% to 93% and 100% at 6 and 12 months respectively.
