Use of a Bioaugmented Organic Soil Amendment in Combination with Gypsum for Withania somnifera Growth on Sodic Soil

Limited availability of organic matter is a problem to sustain crop growth on sodic soil. Organic soil amendments are a costeffective source of nutrients to enhance crop growth. A field study was conducted to evaluate the effect of an organic soil amendment bioaugmented with plant growth-promoting fungi(SF_(OA) ) in combination with gypsum on soil properties and growth and yield attributes of Withania somnifera, one of the most valuable crops of the traditional medicinal system in the world, on a sodic soil at the Aurawan Research Farm of CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow, India. The SF_(OA) used was prepared by pre-enriching farm waste vermicompost with plant growth-promoting fungi before mixing with pressmud and Azadirachta indica seed cake. The application of SF_(OA) at 10 Mg ha^(-1)after gypsum(25.0 Mg ha^(-1)) treatment significantly(P < 0.05) increased root length(by 96%) and biomass(by 125%) of Withania plants compared to the control without SF_(OA) and gypsum. Similarly, the highest withanolide contents were observed in leaves and roots of Withania plants under 10 Mg ha^(-1)SF_(OA) and gypsum. Combined application of SF_(OA) and gypsum also improved physical, chemical and enzymatic properties of the soil, with the soil bulk density decreasing by 25%, water-holding capacity increasing by 121%, total organic C increasing by 90%, p H decreasing by 17% and alkaline phosphatase, β-glucosidase, dehydrogenase and cellulase activities increasing by 54%, 128%, 81% and 96%, respectively, compared to those of the control. These showed that application of the SF_(OA) tested in this study might reclaim sodic soil and further support Withania cultivation and results were better when the SF_(OA) was applied after gypsum treatment.

Er-Tm3+-Ybtri-doped BaMoOphosphors were synthesized by co-precipitation technique and characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis, absorption study and field emission scanning electron microscopy analysis. Upconversion as well as downconversion luminescence studies were performed by using near infrared(980 nm) and ultraviolet(380 nm) excitations. Energy level diagram, pump power dependence and colour coordinate study were utilized to describe the multicolor upconversion emission properties. Under single 980 nm diode laser excitation the dual mode sensing behaviour is realized via Stark sublevels and thermally coupled energy levels of the Tm3+ and Erions in the prepared tri-doped phosphors. A comparative fluorescence intensity ratio analysis for integrated emission intensities arising from the Stark sublevels {~1 G4(a)) and ~1 G4(b))} and thermally coupled energy levels {~2 Hand 4 S3/2} of the Tm3+ and Er3+ ions, respectively was carried out in the prepared tri-doped BaMoOphosphors. The maximum sensitivity for thermally coupled energy levels of the Er3+ and Stark sublevels of the Tm3+ ion was reported. The developed phosphors could be useful in the display devices and optical thermo metric applications.

A numerical algorithm is developed for the approximation of the solution to certain boundary value problems involving the third-order ordinary differential equation associated with draining and coating flows. The authors show that the approximate so- lutions obtained by the numerical algorithm developed by using uonpolynomial quintic spline functions ave better than those produced by other spline and domain decomposition methods. The algorithm is tested on two problems associated with draining and coating flows to demonstrate the practical usefulness of the approach.

The neural network has attracted researchers immensely in the last couple of years due to its wide applications in various areas such as Data mining,Natural language processing,Image processing,and Information retrieval *** embedding has been applied by many researchers for Information retrieval *** this paper word embedding-based skip-gram model has been developed for the query expansion *** terms are obtained from the top“k”initially retrieved documents using the Pseudo relevance feedback model and then they are trained using the skip-gram model to find the expansion terms for the user *** performance of the model based on mean average precision is *** proposed model compares with other existing *** improvement of 6.61%,6.93%,and 9.07%on MAP value is observed compare to the Original query,BM25 model,and query expansion with the Chi-Square model *** proposed model also retrieves 84,25,and 81 additional relevant documents compare to the original query,query expansion with Chi-Square model,and BM25 model respectively and thus improves the recall value *** per query analysis reveals that the proposed model performs well in 30,36,and 30 queries compare to the original query,query expansion with Chi-square model,and BM25 model respectively.

Composite solid propellants(CSPs) have widely been used as main energy source for propelling the rockets in both space and military applications. Internal ballistic parameters of rockets like characteristic exhaust velocity, specific impulse, thrust, burning rate etc., are measured to assess and control the performance of rocket motors. The burn rate of solid propellants has been considered as most vital parameter for design of solid rocket motors to meet specific mission requirements. The burning rate of solid propellants can be tailored by using different constituents, extent of oxidizer loading and its particle size and more commonly by incorporating suitable combustion catalysts. Various metal oxides(MOs),complexes, metal powders and metal alloys have shown positive catalytic behaviour during the combustion of CSPs. These are usually solid-state catalysts that play multiple roles in combustion of CSPs such as reduction in activation energy, enhancement of rate of reaction, modification of sequences in reaction-phase, influence on condensed-phase combustion and participation in combustion process in gas-phase reactions. The application of nanoscale catalysts in CSPs has increased considerably in recent past due to their superior catalytic properties as compared to their bulk-sized counterparts. A large surface-to-volume ratio and quantum size effect of nanocatalysts are considered to be plausible reasons for improving the combustion characteristics of propellants. Several efforts have been made to produce nanoscale combustion catalysts for advanced propellant formulations to improve their energetics. The work done so far is largely scattered. In this review, an effort has been made to introduce various combustion catalysts having at least a metallic entity. Recent developments of nanoscale combustion catalysts with their specific merits are discussed.
