The management of diabetic wounds remains a critical therapeutic challenge. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) gel, PRP-derived exosomes (PRP-Exos), and mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes (mSC-Exos) have demonstrated therapeutic potential in wound treatment. Unfortunately, their poor mechanical properties, the short half-lives of growth factors (GFs), and the burst release of GFs and exosomes have limited their clinical applications. Furthermore, proteases in diabetic wounds degrade GFs, which hampers wound repair. Silk fibroin is an enzyme-immobilization biomaterial that could protect GFs from proteases. Herein, we developed novel dual-crosslinked hydrogels based on silk protein (SP) (sericin and fibroin), including SP@PRP, SP@mSC-Exos, and SP@PRP-Exos, to promote diabetic wound healing synergistically. SP@PRP was prepared from PRP and SP using calcium gluconate/thrombin as agonist, while SP@PRP-Exos and SP@mSC-Exos were derived from exosomes and SP with genipin as crosslinker. SP provided improved mechanical properties and enabled the sustained release of GFs and exosomes, thereby overcoming the limitations of PRP and exosomes in wound healing. The dual-crosslinked hydrogels displayed shear-induced thinning, self-healing, and eradication of microbial biofilms in a bone-mimicking environment. In vivo, the dual-crosslinked hydrogels contributed to faster diabetic wound healing than PRP and SP by upregulating GFs expression, down-regulating matrix metalloproteinase-9 expression, and by promoting an anti-NETotic effect, angiogenesis, and re-epithelialization. Hence, these dual-crosslinked hydrogels have the potential to be translated into a new generation of diabetic wound dressings.

Polymorphisms of the IGF1 gene and their association with growth traits, serum concentration and expression rate of IGF1 and IGF1R in buffalo

The insulin-like growth factor 1（IGF1） gene is a member of the group of somatotropin axis genes that play a significant role in cell proliferation and growth of muscles. Here, we searched for polymorphisms in buffalo IGF1 and found two novel single nucleotide polymorphisms（SNPs）, G64 A and G280A, in the noncoding sequences of exon 1 and exon 4, respectively. Statistical analysis of different genotypes showed that the individuals with GG genotypes had significantly（P〈0.05） higher body weight（BW） and average daily gain（ADG） than those with other genotypes at ages of 3–6 months in G64A SNP and 6–9 months in G280A SNP. The combined genotypes of these two SNPs produced three haplotypes, GG/GG, AG/AG, and AA/AA, which were significantly associated（P〈0.0001） with BW and ADG at an age from 3 to 12 months. Buffaloes with the homozygous GG/GG haplotype showed higher growth performance than other buffaloes. The two SNPs were correlated with m RNA levels of IGF1 and IGF1 receptor（IGF1 R） in semitendinosus muscle as well as with the serum concentration level of IGF1. Also, buffaloes with GG/GG haplotype showed higher m RNA and serum concentration levels. The data revealed that these two SNPs could be valuable genetic markers for selection of Egyptian buffaloes for better performance in the population.

近年来,表面活性剂在提高采收率中的应用受到广泛关注。烷基糖苷(APG)表面活性剂作为一种绿色表面活性剂,无毒不污染环境,且生物降解性能优异。烷基糖苷的研究主要集中于日用化学品工业,在油田生产中的应用主要集中于钻井液方面,在驱油中的研究及应用甚少。因此,针对不同碳链长度的绿色APG活性剂,通过评价其热稳定性、自乳化性能以及吸附性能,筛选出最佳的表面活性剂。并对筛选出的表面活性剂进行三元复配,以冀东原油为研究对象,评价了体系的界面张力性能、乳化性能,采用室内物模实验评价了APG体系提高原油采收率的能力。实验结果表明,APG 1214、APG0814和APG0810热稳定性自乳化性良好,且APG1214在石英砂表面的吸附量最小。APG的碳链越长,降低油水界面张力的能力越强,APG1214与原油之间的界面张力可降低至10mN/m数量级;加入碱、聚合物之后三元复配体系与原油之间的界面张力仍保持在10mN/m数量级。APG可以与原油形成水包油乳状液,随着浓度的增加,表面活性剂的乳化性能增强,三元复合体系由于聚合物的存在增加了乳状液的稳定性,乳状液析水率明显降低。室内驱油实验结果表明,单纯的表面活性剂APG1214驱油提高采收率值仅为14.9%,而三元复合驱体系可以提高采收率32.25%。

Ground penetrating radar, electromagnetic terrain conductivity, and electric tomography have proven to be effective tools if they are combined together to investigate archeological sites. We have conducted a geophysical survey at the Akhmim archaeological site, the main objective of our survey is to locate additional buried structures for further excavation. Geophysical data were acquired in the area using the GEm-300 multi-frequency terrain conductivity profiler, the SIR 2000 ground penetrating radar, and the Syscal R2 resistivity meter systems. The results of the integrated interpretation show a number of buried features and a strong linear zone about 1 m wide that coincides with the suspected trend of a buried wall. There appears to be two parallel ridges of strong reflections on either side, indicating two parallel walls extended East-West and a room is identified at the bottom left comer of the site. moreover, the interpretation results of some selected GPR and dipoledipole resistivity profiles adjacent to the open-air museum suggest the existence of a second statue of Ramses Ⅱ to the right of the previously discovered statue which could still be buried in the sand.

Factors Affecting Health-Promoting Behaviors of University Students in Jordan

Objectives: To determine health promoting behaviors of university students in Jordan and factors influencing them. Design and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive design was used to recruit convenience sample (n = 525) of university students receiving education from two governmental and one private universities in Jordan. Data were collected between September 2013 and January 2014 by using Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile II. Pender model provided conceptual framework to guide the study. Results: The mean score of Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile of the student was at (127.87 ± 19.91). Significant differences were found between Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile mean score and the mean score of its subscales and student’s age, gender, employment status, family income, university type, and faculty type. Conclusions: These findings suggest that interventions are needed to enhance the practice of health promoting behaviours. These interventions should focus on demographic variations among university students.

Evaluation of Plasma Urokinase-Type Plasminogen Activator Receptor and Interleukin 34 in Patients with Chronic Hepatitis C as Serological Fibrosis markers

Background: Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) infection is a progressive disease that may result in chronic hepatitis, fibrosis and cirrhosis. Assessment of liver fibrosis is an essential factor in the management of chronic HCV. Objective: To evaluate plasma soluble Urokinase Plasminogen Activator Receptor (sUPAR) and interleukin-34 (IL-34) as serological markers of liver fibrosis in patients with chronic HCV. methods: This case-control study enrolled 60 chronic HCV patients who were subdivided into three groups of mild, moderate and severe hepatic fibrosis depending on Fibrosis-4 score (FIB-4). Patients were compared with 20 age and sex-matched controls. Plasma sUPAR and IL-34 levels were measured by Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). Results: Plasma sUPAR and IL-34 were significantly increased in HCV patients when compared with controls, and their increase was positively correlated with the progression of hepatic fibrosis. Plasma sUPAR and IL-34 positively correlated with Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) and Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT), and negatively correlated with hemoglobin concentration and platelet count. The output data of Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve to differentiate patients from controls revealed that sUPAR at cut-off > 186.2 ng/L and Area Under Curve (AUC) of 0.944 had (85%) sensitivity and (100%) specificity, and IL-34 at cut off > 16.4 ng/L and AUC of 0.942 had (75%) sensitivity and (100%) specificity. The output data of ROC curve to differentiate severe from mild to moderate hepatic fibrosis patients revealed that sUPAR at cut-off > 510 ng/L and AUC of 0.837 had (80%) sensitivity and (90%) specificity. While IL-34 at cut off > 55.3 ng/L and AUC of 0.844 had (85%) sensitivity and (80%) specificity. UV/O<sub>3</sub>Preirradiated Cotton Fabric-Containing Chitosan for Effective Removal of Heavy metals

The present work aims at studying the effect of Ultra-Violet/Ozone (UV/O3) irradiation of cotton fabrics on their interaction with chitosan/citric acid based formulation and, the onset of this on the ability of treated fabrics to remove heavy metal ions from their aqueous solutions. To achieve the goal, the cotton fabrics were preirradiated for 90 minutes using UV/O3 as radiation source. The irradiated and the unirrdadiated cotton fabrics were submitted to finishing formulation consisting essentially of chitosan as a finishing agent and citric acid as crosslinking agent in combination with sodium hypophosphite (SHP) as a catalyst. Finishing formulation containing different concentrations of chitosan (0 - 4) along with citric acid (8 g/l) and SHP (4 g/l) were used and the interaction of chitosan with the cotton fabric was assessed through nitrogen measurement. The preirradiated and chemically finished fabrics vis-à-vis the unirrdadiated fabrics were examined for metal ion removal. Results conclude that the preirradiated cotton fabrics exhibit higher nitrogen content than the unirrdadiated fabrics. The same holds true for heavy metal removal, exemplified by Zn2+ and Cd2+ ions from their aqueous solutions. That is, preirradiated fabrics containing chitosan display higher percent heavy metal removal than their unirrdadiated mates.

Novel Thiazolopyrane and Thiazolopyranopyrimidine Derivatives Carrying a Sulfonamide moiety of Expected Cytotoxic and Radiosensitizing Activities

New series of thiazolopyranes 4, 5, 7-10, 14, 18-20 and thiazolopyranopyrimidine derivatives 6, 11, 12, 13, 15-17 bearing a sulfonamide moiety were synthesized. The structures design of these compounds complies with general pharmacophore of the sulfonamide compounds that act as carbonic anhydrase (CA) inhibitor this play a role in their anticancer activity. The structure of the newly synthesized compounds was established by microanalysis IR, H1NmR and mass spectral data. All new synthesized compounds showed considerable cytotoxic activity against breast carcinoma cell line [mCF7] compared with doxorubicin as positive control. This compounds act as radiosensitizer upon combination with γ-radiation.

Flow Cytometric Diagnosis of Acute Leukemia and Aberrant Antigen: Sohag University Experience

Background: multiparameter flow cytometry is the most important method for the lineage assignment and maturational analysis of acute leukemias (AL) cells. The multi parametric immunophenotyping analysis allows the detection of aberrant antigen expression and the analysis of heterogeneity and clonality of malignant cells in AL. The aim of the work is to study the immunophenotypes of blasts from patients with AL and determine the frequency of aberrant markers. Subjects and methods: Retrospective study to analyze immunophenotypic data of de novo 144 AL patients who were diagnosed in Clinical Pathology Department, Sohag University. Results: We found that 61.8% of AL patients were classified as acute myeloblastic leukemia (AmL) while 38.9% classified as acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). The commonest FAB subtype in AmL group was AmL-m2 (31.8%) followed by m4-m5 27.3%. As regard ALL, there were 85.7% with B-ALL and 14.3% with T-ALL. The aberrancy expressions were found in 66 of AL cases (45.8%), CD7 was the most commonly expressed lymphoid antigen in AmL (25%), CD13 was the most commonly expressed myeloid antigen in ALL (39.3%). Conclusion: The multi parametric immunophenotyping analysis of AL is sufficient for diagnosis and classification of leukemia. The frequencies of
