The extraction of copper from acidic medium using Liquid Emulsion Membrane LEM as contactors was studied. b diketone LIX 54 as an extractant ,sesqueoleate which is nonionic surfactant with HLB value 3.7 and 0.1 M H2SO4 as stripping solution were used. The influence of initial concentration of copper in the aqueous feed phase, pH of external and internal aqueous phase, stirring speed, and concentration of extractant on the extraction rate was examined. The results obtained showed that practically all the copper content was removed from the acidic feed solution. The recovery of copper attained 96–100% and concentration ratios of about 40-fold could be achieved.

Background： In the early stages of atrial remodeling, aortic stiffness might be an indication of an atrial myopathy, in particular, atrial fibrosis. This study aimed to investigate the association between left atrial （LA） mechanical function, assessed by two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography, and aortic stiffness in middle-aged patients with tile first episode of nonvalvular atrial fibrillation （AF）. Methods： This prospective study included 34 consecutive patients with the first episode of AF, who were admitted to Kartal Kos.;uyolu Research and Training Hospital between May 2013 and October 2015, and 31 age- and gender-matched healthy controls. During the 1^st month （mostly in the first 2 weeks） following their first admission, 34 patients underwent the first pulse wave measurements. Then, 21 patients were recalled for their second pulse wave measurement at 11.8 ± 6.0 months following their initial admission. Echocardiographic and pulse wave findings were compared between these 34 patients and 31 healthy controls. We also compared the pulse wave and echocardiographic findings between the first and second measurements in 21 patients. Results： Pulse wave analysis showed no significant differences between tile AF patients and healthy controls with respect to PWV （ 10.2 ± 2.5 m/s vs. 9.7 ± 2.1 m/s： P = 0.370）, augmentation pressure （9.6 ± 7.4 mmHg vs. 9. 1± 5.7 mmHg; P = 0.740）, and aortic pulse pressure （AoPP; 40.4 ± 14.0 mmHg vs. 42. 1 ±7.6 mmHg, P = 0.550）. The first LA positive peak of strain was inversely related to the augmentation pressure （r 0.30; P = 0.02） and aortic systolic pressure （r - 0.26, P - 0.04）. Comparison between the two consecutive pulse wave measurements in 21 patients showed similar results, except for AoPP. In 21 patients, the AoPP at the second measurement （45.1± 14.1 mmHg） showed a significant increase compared with AoPP at the first measurement （39.0 ±10.6 mmHg, P = 0.028）, which was also higher than that of healthy controls （42.1

We study temperature effect on anomalous viscosity of Graphene Hall fluid within quantum many-vortex hydrodynamics. The commonly observed filling fraction, in the range is considered. An expression for anomalous viscosity dependent on a geometric parameter-Hall expansion coefficient is obtained at finite temperatures. It arises from strained induced pseudo-magnetic field in addition to an anomalous term in vortex velocity, which is responsible for renormalization of vortex-vortex interactions. We observed that both terms greatly modify the anomalous viscosity as well as an enhancement of weakly observed v fractions. Finite values of the expansion coefficient produce constant and infinite viscosities at varying temperatures. The infinities are identified as energy gaps and suggest temperatures at which new stable quantum hall filling fractions could be seen. This phenomenon is used to estimate energy gaps of already measured fractional Quantum Hall States in Graphene.

This paper determined cations and anions concentrations, Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN), and heavy metals content in sewage sludge collected from the drying beds of wastewater treatment plant in Gaza. The aim was to test the possibility of using this sewage sludge as an alternative source of mineral fertilizers. Many instruments were used in this work: flame photometry (K, Na), EDTA titration (Ca, Mg), the turbidity method () , spectrophotometer (turbidity), ascorbic acid method (orthophosphate), titrimetric method (Cl﹣), inductive coupled plasma analyzer (ICP, heavy metals). All the processes of experiments and analyses were described clearly for reference. Results showed that concentrations of Na﹢, K﹢, Ca2﹢ and Mg2﹢ were 28.93, 2.53, 271 and 177 mg/kg respectively whereas? were 0.434, 18.59, 0.87 and 0.026 g/kg respectively. The concentrations of Fe, Cu, Pb, Zn and Mn were 125.12, 172.56, 76.88, 218.73 and 157.56 mg/kg respectively. These results indicate that sewage sludge from Gaza contained high fractions of most plant nutrients accordingly, and it may be advantageous to use the sludge as a natural source of plant fertilizers.

This study characterized the physicochemical properties of sewage sludge collected from Gaza wastewater treatment plant. Sludge samples were collected from the drying beds, air-dried, sieved through 2 mm and stored in plastic bags at room temperature. Sludge density, particle size distribution, water holding capacity, void volume, pH, EC, total organic carbon and hydrophobicity were determined. Results showed the bulk density is about 1.18 g/cm3 whereas the real density is 2.12 g/cm3 and void volume is 50%;Particle size distribution showed that the major size of sludge is sand-like size (630 - 200 μm) and the minor size is silt-like size (200 - 20 μm) and clay-like size is less than 20 μm. Sludge has an acidic pH reaction (6.78 ± 0.02) with an electric conductivity equal to (2.49 ± 0.04) mS?cm-1. The hydrophobicity of sludge is very high, water drop penetration time (WDPT) is 114.77 ± 18.78 sec with a radius of 0.44 ± 0.08 cm. In the way around, oil drop penetration time (ODPT) of sludge is 5.05 ± 1.28 sec with a radius of 1.25 ± 0.14 cm. The WDPT/ODPM ration has very high value 22.73 indicating extreme hydrophobicity. High value of hydrophobicity may reduce water filtration in soil when sludge applied for agriculture. These results suggest that sludge application to soil may change the physicochemical properties of soil.

从自然发酵鲊辣椒中以嗅闻法结合总酯含量作为生香酵母的筛选依据分离筛选到1株生香酵母,经鉴定并分类命名为库德里阿兹威氏毕赤酵母菌(Pichia kudriavzevii)y50,为探究该菌株混菌发酵生产鲊辣椒的品质提升作用,将y50与植物乳杆菌混合发酵鲊辣椒(C),以自然发酵的鲊辣椒(A)以及接种植物乳杆菌发酵的鲊辣椒(B)为对比研究对象,对3种鲊辣椒的基本理化指标、辣椒碱、有机酸和挥发性成分进行比较分析。结果表明,3种鲊辣椒pH值、总酸、亚硝酸盐、胡萝卜素含量较为接近,但鲊辣椒C中有机酸含量达(25.46±0.32)g/kg,比鲊辣椒A和鲊辣椒B分别高出57.8%和32.2%。鲊辣椒A、B、C中分别检出挥发性风味物质90种、67种和72种,其中鲊辣椒C的挥发性物质含量最高,为(10101.11±99.04)μg/kg,酯类、醇类、醛类、酸类挥发性物质含量均有提高,相比A、B分别提升了75%、358%、106%、23%和102%、59%、68%、51%,赋予鲊辣椒更浓郁的酯香、花香和果香,说明添加生香酵母y50能提升鲊辣椒整体的风味品质,通过气味活度值(odor activity value,OAV)的计算,共检出22种OAV>1的香气化合物,这些关键香味物质赋予了鲊辣椒特有的香气特征,其中β-紫罗兰酮、2-甲基丁酸乙酯、己酸己酯、正庚醇、(+)-柠檬烯、庚醛、愈创木酚是构成鲊辣椒C风味的关键物质。试验表明y50具有进一步应用于鲊辣椒生产的潜力。

This paper the chilled water and involves the investigations of ice cold thermal storage technologies along with the associated operating strategies for the air conditioning （AC） systems of the typical office buildings in Saudi Arabia, so as to reduce the electricity energy consumption during the peak load periods. In Saudi Arabia, the extensive use of AC for indoor cooling in offices composes a large proportion of the annual peak electricity demand. The very high temperatures over long summer periods, extending tyom May to October, and the low cost of energy are the key factors in the wide and extensive use of air conditioners in the kingdom. This intense cooling load adds up to the requirement increase in the capacity of power plants, which makes them under utilized during the oil：peak periods. Thermal energy storage techniques are one of the effective demand-side energy management methods. Systems with cold storage shifts all or part of the electricity requirement from peak hours to off-peak hours to reduce demand charges and/or take advantage of off-peak rates. The investigations reveal that the cold thermal energy storage techniques are effective from both technical and economic perspectives in the reduction of energy consumption in the buildings during peak periods.

Hematologic Characteristics of Patients with Active Pulmonary, Extra-Pulmonary and Disseminated Tuberculosis: A Study of over Six Hundred Patients

Background: Many inflammatory cells, cytokines, acute phase reactants as well as platelets are recruited in the battle against the invading mycobacterium. As a result, alterations in the hematologic profile of infected patients are anticipated. Objectives: The primary objective was to investigate the various hematologic characteristics of patients with active tuberculosis. The secondary objective was to study the correlation between such hematologic characteristics and the type of tuberculosis including pulmonary, extra-pulmonary, and disseminated. Methods: This was a retrospective, descriptive study investigating the hematological findings in adult patients (aged 18 years or older) with active, bacteriologically-confirmed tuberculosis infection. Results: Among the 605 confirmed active tuberculosis cases, 465 (78.8%) were pulmonary, 104 (17.6%) extra-pulmonary, and 21 (3.6%) disseminated type. The mean age at diagnosis was 33.4 ± 11.4 years and males constituted 80.2% of cases. Peripheral leukocytosis was observed in 177 (30.1%) and leukopenia in 7 (1.2%) (Pulmonary type of tuberculosis was significantly associated with leukocytosis (P = 0.000)). Neutrophilia, lymphocytosis, monocytosis, eosinophilia, and basophilia were observed in 15.3%, 3.1%, 10.4%, 6.3% and 4.7% respectively. Thrombocytopenia and thrombocytosis were observed in 3.9% and 26.7% respectively. Anemia was observed in 44.8% of all cases with 4.4% had severe anemia and 60.3% had anemia of chronic diseases. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate was high in 77.2% of cases and ≥100 mm/hr in 5%. C-reactive protein was high in 93.4% and it exceeded 40 mg/L in 69.3%. Conclusion: There is a wide range of variability in the leukocyte and differential leukocyte abnormalities observed in patients with active tuberculosis. Leukocytosis can be seen in one-third of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. Anemia of chronic diseases is the most common type of anemia observed in tuberculosis

yttrium iron garnet powder samples（y3-xDyxFe5O12）, where part of yttrium ions are substituted by dysprosium ions with different concentrations are prepared by the solid state reaction method. The properties of the prepared samples are examined by different methods such as x-ray diffraction（XRD）, Mssbauer spectroscopy, macroscopic magnetization measurements, and thermal measurements. The XRD measurements show that all the samples reveal the presence of a single garnet phase with a BCC structure. Room temperature Mssbauer spectra indicate that iron ions occupy three magnetic sites, i.e., two octahedral sites and one tetrahedral site. The saturation magnetization and the initial magnetic susceptibility decrease with the increase of Dy^3＋ substitution. The Curie temperature obtained from the thermal measurements seems to be independent of Dy^3＋ substitution.
