Tensile strain Capacity Prediction of Engineered Cementitious Composites (ECC) Using soft Computing Techniques

Plain concrete is strong in compression but brittle in tension,having a low tensile strain capacity that can significantly degrade the long-term performance of concrete structures,even when steel reinforcing is *** order to address these challenges,short polymer fibers are randomly dispersed in a cement-based matrix to forma highly ductile engineered cementitious composite(ECC).Thismaterial exhibits high ductility under tensile forces,with its tensile strain being several hundred times greater than conventional *** concrete is inherently weak in tension,the tensile strain capacity(TsC)has become one of the most extensively researched *** a result,developing a model to predict the TsC of the ECC and to optimize the mixture proportions becomes ***,the effort required for laboratory trial batches to determine the TsC is *** achieve the research objectives,five distinct models,artificial neural network(ANN),nonlinear model(NLR),linear relationship model(LR),multi-logistic model(MLR),and M5P-tree model(M5P),are investigated and employed to predict the TsCof ECCmixtures containing fly *** from115 mixtures are gathered and analyzed to develop a new *** input variables include mixture proportions,fiber length and diameter,and the time required for curing the various *** model’s effectiveness is evaluated and verified based on statistical parameters such as R2,mean absolute error(MAE),scatter index(sI),root mean squared error(RMsE),and objective function(OBJ)***,the ANN model outperforms the others in predicting the TsC of the ECC,with RMsE,MAE,OBJ,sI,and R2 values of 0.42%,0.3%,0.33%,0.135%,and 0.98,respectively.

A discoid meniscus is a morphological abnormality wherein the meniscus loses its normal‘C’*** most patients are asymptomatic,patients might still present with symptoms such as locking,pain,swelling,or giving *** resonance imaging is usually needed for confirmation of *** on a constellation of factors,including clinical and radiological,different approaches are chosen for the management of discoid *** purpose of this review is to outline the treatment of discoid meniscus,starting from conservative approach,to the different surgical options for this *** PubMed and Google scholar databases were used for this *** discussing the treatment of discoid meniscus from 2018 to 2023 were *** there were 369 studies retrieved,and after removal of studies using the exclusion criteria,26 studies were included in this *** such as stability,presence of tear,and morphology can help with surgical *** approaches have been used to treat discoid meniscus,where the choice is tailored for each patient ***,factors that may positively impact patient outcomes include male sex,body mass indexsymptom onsets,and duration of symptomss partial meniscectomy with or without repair;however,recently,there has been an increased emphasis on discoid-preserving techniques such as meniscoplasty,meniscopexy,and meniscal allograft transplantation.

Methylmalonic Acidemia: An Unusual Cause of Chronic Renal Disease in Adults

Background: Methylmalonic aciduria (MMA) is a genetic disorder of aminoacid metabolism, due to mutations in methylmalonyl-CoA mutase, which leads to the accumulation of methylmalonic acid in body fluids. Patients typically present at the age of 1 month to 1 year with dehydration, renal impairment as well as neurologic manifestations viz. seizure, encephalopathy, strokes and disease in the globus pallidi. The case: a 26-year-old man presented with severe acute on top of chronic renal disease with serum creatinine at 590 umol/L and bilateral 8 cm kidneys with thin and echogenic cortex. He had: (a) hypernatremic dehydration, metabolic acidosis and high ammonia level with (b) a history of multiple similar attacks since the age of 8 months. Diagnosis of MMA was confirmed by high serum and urine enzymatic levels as well as genetic testing. His initial management included support with replacements of fluids, electrolytes, and bicarbonates as well as intravenous dextrose, vitamin B12 and broad-spectrum antibiotic (Meropenem) for his chest infection. subsequently, he received 1) CARBAGLU (carglumic acid) for 7 days to lower his ammonia level to Conclusion: Untreated homozygous MMA variants, can achieve adulthood with significant renal disease yet their morbidity and mortality can be ameliorated with diet and specific therapy.

study the Effect of Thickness on the Performance of PM6:Y6 Organic solar Using sCAPs simulation

In this study, organic solar cells (OsCs) with an active layer, a blend of polymer of non-fullerene (NFA) Y6 as an acceptor, and donor PBDB-T-2F as donor were simulated through the one-dimensional solar capacitance simulator (sCAPs-1D) software to examine the performance of this type of organic polymer thin-film solar cell by varying the thickness of the active layer. PFN-Br interfacial layer entrenched in OPV devices gives overall enhanced open-circuit voltage, short-circuit current density and fill factor thus improving device performance. PEDOT: Pss is an electro-conductive polymer solution that has been extensively utilized in solar cell devices as a hole transport layer (HTL) due to its strong hole affinity, good thermal and mechanical stability, high work function, and high transparency in the visible range. The structure of the organic solar cell is ITO/PEDOT: Pss/BTP-4F: PBDB-T-2F/PFN-Br/Ag. Firstly, the active layer thickness was optimized to 100 nm;after that, the active-layer thickness was varied up to 900 nm. The results of these simulations demonstrated that the active layer thickness improves efficiency significantly up to 500 nm, then it decreased with increasing the thickness of the active layer from 600 nm, also notice that the short circuit current and the fill factor decrease with increasing the active layer from 600 nm, while the open voltage circuit increased with increasing the thickness of the active layer. The optimum thickness is 500 nm.

Bullous pemphigoid (BP) is the most prevalent autoimmune sub-epidermal blistering disease that affects mainly the elderly and could lead to serious morbidity. It has numerous risk factors and triggers, including an aging population with several comorbidities and drug exposure. In the published paper, we reported a case about a 32 years old male patient with unknown medical conditions who presented with erythematous patches and plaques on the scalp, face, and trunk with scattered blisters two weeks after initiating doxycycline treatment for folliculitis. The exact pathogenesis of the drug-reaction in drug- associated bullous pemphigoid (DABP) remains controversial. In conclusion, it is crucial for clinicians to be aware of DABP when prescribing doxycycline. The purpose of this case report is to raise awareness of the possible association between bullous pemphigoid and doxycycline.

Validation of a Method for Characterization of Ethanol in Water by Hs-GC-FID to serve the Traceability of Halal Measurements

The determination of the ethanol content in food products is of fundamental importance for HALAL certification. In this work, an analytical method for the determination of ethanol in water by headspace gas chromatography with flame ionization detector (Hs-GC-FID) has been developed and validated for the use in characterization of ethanol reference materials. The validation study was carried out in the linear calibration range 100 - 1500 mg/kg using the NIsT sRM 2900, nominal 95.6%. The studied performance characteristics of the method were the limit of detection, LOD, the limit of quantification LOQ, selectivity, linearity, precision, recovery and bias. The validation results showed that the method is selective, precise, accurate and free from any significant bias. The LOD and LOQ were 1.27 and 3.86 mg/kg respectively and the estimated expanded uncertainty was 2% indicating that the method is fit for the purpose of certification of ethanol in water reference materials.

Glanzmann Thrombasthenia: Managing Gingival Bleeding Triggered by Tooth Eruption—A Rare Case Report

Glanzmann thrombasthenia (GT) is a rare and often underdiagnosed congenital bleeding disorder caused by mutations in the genes encoding glycoproteins GPIIb or GPIIIa, resulting in platelet dysfunction. Inherited in an autosomal recessive manner, GT is characterized by the inability of platelets to aggregate. Clinically, it presents with mucocutaneous bleeding, such as easy and extensive bruising, severe epistaxis, menorrhagia, gingival bleeding, postpartum hemorrhage, and unexpected bleeding following procedures, despite a normal platelet count. We present a case involving a 6-year-old male patient who experienced spontaneous gingival bleeding for the past 4 weeks due to the eruption of his first permanent molars. The bleeding was particularly severe at night, disrupting the child’s sleep. The patient had been diagnosed with GT at the age of 16 months. Dental management was pursued, and the use of tranexamic acid mouthwash, combined with meticulous oral hygiene, resulted in an excellent response.

Expression of fatty acid sensing G-protein coupled receptors in peripartal Holstein cows

Background： G-protein coupled receptors（GPCR）, also referred as Free Fatty Acid Receptors（FFAR）, are widely studied within human medicine as drug targets for metabolic disorders. To combat metabolic disorders prevalent in dairy cows during the transition period, which co-occur with negative energy balance and changes to lipid and glucose metabolism, it may be helpful to identify locations and roles of FFAR and other members of the GPCR family in bovine ***： Quantitative RT-PCR（qPCR） of subcutaneous adipose, liver, and PMNL samples during the transition period（-10, ＋7, and ＋20 or ＋30 d） were used for expression profiling of medium-（MCFA） and long-chain fatty acid（LCFA）receptors GPR120 and GPR40, MCFA receptor GPR84, and niacin receptor HCAR2/3. Adipose samples were obtained from cows with either high（HI; BCs ≥ 3.75） or low（LO; BCs ≤ 3.25） body condition score（BCs） to examine whether FFAR expression is correlated with this indicator of health and body reserves. supplementation of rumen-protected methionine（MET）, which may improve immune function and production postpartum, was also compared with unsupplemented control（CON） cows for liver and blood polymorphonuclear leukocytes（PMNL） samples. In adipose tissue, GPR84 and GPR120 were differentially expressed over time, while GPR40 was not expressed; in PMNL, GPR40 was differentially expressed over time and between MET vs. CON, GPR84 expression differed only between dietary groups, and GPR120 was not expressed; in liver, GPCR were either not expressed or barely ***： The data indicate that there is likely not a direct role in liver for the selected GPCR during the transition period, but they do play variable roles in adipose and PMN. In future, these receptors may prove useful targets and/or markers for peripartal metabolism and immunity.
