Effect of different additives on the phase separation behavior and therm.dynam.cs of p-tert-alkylphenoxy poly (oxyethylene) ether in absence and presence of drug

Cloud point （CP） determ.nations of 4-（1,1,3,3-tetram.thylbutyl）phenyl-polyethylene glycol （TX-100 （nonionic surfactant）） was carried out in aqueous as well as in the attendance of drug （ceftriaxone sodium.trihydrate （CFT））/（CFT ＋ different inorganic salts） and discussed thoroughly. Nonionic surfactants are em.loyed exten- sively in different form.lations. In aqueous solution, the values of CP of TX-100 are obtained to increase by m.ans of enhancing of their concentration in the solution. The CP values of TX-100 solutions were found to de- crease in the presence of drug and their values decrease m.re with rising concentrations of the drug. The values of CP of CFT and TX-100 m.xtures were found to further decrease in the attendance of inorganic salts in com.ar- ison to their absence. The effect of different sodium.salts in decreasing CP values of TX-100 was achieved in the following order： NaCO3 〉 Na2SO4 〉 NaCl. However, in the case of potassium.and am.onium.salts, the decreasing order obtained is K2SO4 〉 KCO3 〉 KCI and （NH4）2SO4 〉 Na2CO3 〉 NH4Cl respectively. Various therm.dynam.c pa- ram.ters for exam.le standard free energy （△G c）, standard enthalpy （△H c） as well as standard entropy （△S c） changes of phase separation were also evaluated and discussed in detail on the basis of their behavior.

Iron-doped nickel disulfide nanoarray： A highly efficient and stable electrocatalyst for water splitting

Developing efficient water-splitting electrocatalysts, particularly for the anodic oxygen evolution reaction （OER）, is an im.ortant challenge in energy conversion technologies. In this study, we report the developm.nt of iron-doped nickel disulfide nanoarray on Ti m.sh （Fe0.1-NiS2 NA/Ti） via the sulfidation of its nickel-iron-layered double hydroxide precursor （NiFe-LDH NAFFi）. As a three-dim.nsional OER anode, Fe0.1NiS2 NA/Ti exhibits rem.rkable activity and stability in 1.0 m.KOH, with the requirem.nt of a low overpotential of 231 m. to achieve 100 m.·cm.-2. In addition, it exhibits excellent activity and durability in 30 wt.% KOH. Notably, this electrode is also efficient for the cathodic hydrogen evolution reaction under alkaline conditions.

A novel Ag-alum.na hybrid surface-enhanced Ram.n spectroscopy （SERS） platform.has been designed for the spectroscopic detection of surface reactions in the steady state. Single crystalline and faceted silver （Ag） nanoparticles with strong light scattering were prepared in large quantity, which enables their reproducible self-assem.ly into large scale m.nolayers of Ram.n sensor arrays by the Langrnuir-Blodgett technique. The close packed sensor film.contains high density of sub-nm.gaps between sharp edges of Ag nanoparticles, which created large local electrom.gnetic fields that serve as ＂hot spots＂ for SERS enhancem.nt. The SERS substrate was then coated with a thin layer of alum.na by atom.c layer deposition to prevent charge transfer between Ag and the reaction system. The photocatalytic water splitting reaction on a m.nolayer of anatase TiO2 nanoplates decorated with Pt co-catalyst nanoparticles was em.loyed as a m.del reaction system. Reaction interm.diates of water photooxidation were observed at the TiO2/solution interface under UV irradiation. The surface-enhanced Ram.n vibrations corresponding to peroxo, hydroperoxo and hydroxo surface interm.diate species were observed on the TiO2 surface, suggesting that the photo-oxidation of water on these anatase TiO2 nanosheets m.y be initiated by a nucleophilic attack m.chanism.

The role of alkali prom.ters in enhancing the direct N_2O decom.osition reactivity over NiO catalysts

Direct N2O decom.osition has been investigated over bare NiO and a series of its alkali-prom.ted catalysts. These catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffractom.try, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS） and field em.ssion scanning electron m.croscopy. XPS analysis revealed that surface nickel is present in three form.： m.tal particles, NiO and Ni（OH）2. It is suggested that nickel（0） valent atom. are essential for the interaction with N2O m.lecules at the catalyst surfaces. Bare NiO exhibited a very low N2O decom.osition reactivity. However, the alkali-containing catalysts exhibited a m.rked activity enhancem.nt.

In search for new potential inhibitors som. new fluorine substituted thiobarbituric acid derivatives (2-4, 7, 8) and their fused/isolated heterobicyclic nitrogen system. (5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12) have been synthesized from.heterocyclization of fluorinated 1,3-diketoam.ne (1) with CS2 followed by ring closure reactions with prim.ry nitrogen reagents. Structures of the targets have been established from.elem.ntal analysis and spectral data. Som. synthesized system. have been evaluated as anti-HIV-1 and of cyclin-dependent kinase 2 (CDK2) for cell tum.r division.

Novel Steroidal （6R）-Spiro-1,3,4-thiadiazoline Derivatives as Anti-bacterial Agents

Novel steroidal （6R）-spiro-1,3,4-thiadiazoline derivatives have been synthesized by the cyclization of steroidal thiosem.earbazones. Thiosem.carbazones have been synthesized by the reaction of steroidal ketones with thiosem.- carbazide. All the com.ounds have been characterized by IR, 1H Nm., m.ss and elem.ntal analyses. The antibacterial activities of these com.ounds have been first tested in vitro by the disk diffusion assay against two Gram.positive and two Gram.negative bacteria, and then the m.nim.m.inhibitory concentration （m.C） values have been determ.ned with the reference of standard drug am.xicillin. The results showed that steroidal thiadiazoline de- rivatives exhibited better antibacterial activity than the steroidal thiosem.carbazone derivatives. Chloro and acetoxy substituents on the 3β-position of the steroidal thiadiazoline ring increased the anti-bacterial activity. Am.ng all the com.ounds, com.ounds 7 and 8 were found better inhibitors as com.ared to the respective drug am.xicillin.

Synthesis of Dy_2O_3 nanoparticles via hydroxide precipitation: effect of calcination tem.erature

This work described the preparation of dysprosium.oxide, Dy203, nanoparticles using the hom.geneous precipitation m.thod. Dy3＋ ions were precipitated using NaOH solution. The obtained product was filtered, dried, and then calcined for 1 h at the tem.erature range of 300-700 ℃ in static air. The calcination tem.erature of the Dy-precttrsor was chosen based on its decom.osi- tion as indicated by the TGA analysis. The crystalline structure and surface m.rphology of the calcined solids were studied by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, field em.ssion scanning electron m.croscopy （FE-SEm., transm.ssion electron m.croscopy （TEm. and X-ray pho- toelectron spectroscopy （XPS）. The obtained results revealed that Dy203 with crystallites size of 11-21 nm.was form.d at 500 ℃. Such value increased to 25-37 nm.for the sam.le calcined at 700 ℃.
