Hybrid Approach for Cost Efficient Application Placement in Fog-Cloud Computing Environments

Fog computing has recently developed as a new paradigm with the aim of addressing time-sensitive applications better than with cloud computing by placing and processing tasks in close proximity to the data ***,the majority of the fog nodes in this environment are geographically scattered with resources that are limited in terms of capabilities compared to cloud nodes,thus making the application placement problem more complex than that in cloud *** approach for cost-efficient application placement in fog-cloud computing environments that combines the benefits of both fog and cloud computing to optimize the placement of applications and services while minimizing *** approach is particularly relevant in scenarios where latency,resource constraints,and cost considerations are crucial factors for the deployment of *** this study,we propose a hybrid approach that combines a genetic algorithm(GA)with the Flamingo Search Algorithm(FSA)to place application modules while minimizing *** consider four cost-types for application deployment:Computation,communication,energy consumption,and *** proposed hybrid approach is called GA-FSA and is designed to place the application modules considering the deadline of the application and deploy them appropriately to fog or cloud nodes to curtail the overall cost of the *** extensive simulation is conducted to assess the performance of the proposed approach compared to other state-of-the-art *** results demonstrate that GA-FSA approach is superior to the other approaches with respect to task guarantee ratio(TGR)and total cost.

A Broker-Based Task-Scheduling Mechanism Using Replication Approach for Cloud Systems

The reliability and availability of cloud systems have become major concerns of service providers,brokers,and ***,studying fault-tolerance mechanisms in cloud computing attracts intense attention in industry and *** task-scheduling mechanisms can improve the fault-tolerance level of cloud systems.A task-scheduling mechanism distributes tasks to a group of instances to be *** work has been undertaken in this direction to improve the overall outcome of cloud computing,such as improving service qual-ity and reducing power ***,little work on task scheduling has studied the problem of lost tasks from the broker’s *** loss can hap-pen due to virtual machine failures,server crashes,connection interruption,*** broker-based concept means that the backup task can be allocated by the bro-ker on the same cloud service provider(CSP)or a different CSP to reduce costs,for *** paper proposes a novel fault-tolerant mechanism that employs the primary backup(PB)model of task scheduling to address this *** pro-posed mechanism minimizes the impact of failure events by reducing the number of lost *** mechanism is further improved to shorten the makespan time of submitted tasks in cloud *** experiments demonstrated that the pro-posed mechanism decreased the number of lost tasks by about 13%–15%com-pared with other mechanisms in the literature.

Artificial Bee Colony with Cuckoo Search for Solving Service Composition

In recent years,cloud computing has provided a Software As A Service(SaaS)platform where the software can be reused and applied to fulﬁll compli-cated user demands according to speciﬁc Quality of Services(QoS)*** user requirements are formulated as a workﬂow consisting of a set of ***,many services may satisfy the functionality of each task;thus,searching for the composition of the optimal service while maximizing the QoS is formulated as an NP-hard *** work will introduce a hybrid Artiﬁcial Bee Colony(ABC)with a Cuckoo Search(CS)algorithm to untangle service composition *** ABC is a well-known metaheuristic algorithm that can be applied when dealing with different NP-hard problems with an outstanding record of ***,the ABC suffers from a slow convergence ***,the CS is used to overcome the ABC’s limitations by allowing the abandoned bees to enhance their search and override the local *** proposed hybrid algorithm has been tested on 19 datasets and then compared with two standard algorithms(ABC and CS)and three state-of-the-art swarm-based composition *** addition,extensive parameter study experiments were conducted to set up the proposed algorithm’s *** results indicate that the proposed algorithm outperforms the standard algorithms in the three comparison criteria(bestﬁtness value,averageﬁtness value,and average execution time)overall datasets in 30 different ***,the proposed algorithm also exhibits better performance than the state–of–the–art algorithms in the three comparison criteria over 30 different runs.

With the increasing demand for doctors in chest related diseases,there is a 15%performance gap every five *** this gap is not filled with effective chest disease detection automation,the healthcare industry may face unfavorable *** are only several studies that targeted X-ray images of cardiothoracic *** of the studies only targeted a single disease,which is *** some related studies have provided an identification framework for all classes,the results are not encouraging due to a lack of data and imbalanced data *** research provides a significant contribution to Generative Adversarial Network(GAN)based synthetic data and four different types of deep learning-based models that provided comparable *** models include a ResNet-152 model with image augmentation with an accuracy of 67%,a ResNet-152 model without image augmentation with an accuracy of 62%,transfer learning with Inception-V3 with an accuracy of 68%,and finally ResNet-152 model with image augmentation but targeted only six classes with an accuracy of 83%.

Background There is much concern about declining rates of exclusive breastfeeding(EBF)all over the world including Saudi Arabia which deprives infants from many immunological,nutritional,and psychosocial *** study was per-formed to determine EBF prevalence and factors influencing EBF in relation to knowledge,attitude and practice(KAP)of breastfeeding mothers(BFM)in Rabigh,Western Saudi *** Data about factors that could be associated with EBF and KAP of BFM were collected by cross-sectional ques-tionnaire-based study from 420 *** Prevalence of EBF for 6 months was 27.6%which is far below World Health Organization ***,socioeconomic,biomedical as well as most studied variables of KAP of 50%to over 90%of participating mothers were adequate to account for low EBF *** knowledge about benefits of colostrum and continuation of breastfeeding for 2 years was given by only 86.2%and 36.7%of BFM,*** most significant independent factors associated with EBF were perception of sufficient human milk[adjusted odds ratio(AOR)2.89;95%confidence interval(CI)1.72-4.89],absence of nipple pain(AOR 2.77;95%CI 1.72-4.45)and mothers without university education(AOR 1.86;95%CI 1.15-3.01).Early introduction of formula in hospital after birth was the main inappropriate feeding practice in 76.2%of infants of *** Findings of this study should be utilized by Rabigh community and other national or worldwide communities with similar characters to promote EBF by targeted educational programs after identification of significant factors inltuenc-ing EBF and gaps in KAP of BFM.

Prevalence of filarial parasites in domestic and stray cats in Selangor State, Malaysia

Objective: To determine the prevalence of the filarial parasites, ie., Brugia malayi, Brugia pahangi(B. pahangi), Dirofilaria immitis and Dirofilaria repens(D. repens)in domestic and stray cats. Methods: A total of 170 blood sample were collected from domestic and stray cats and examined for i larial worm parasites in two localities, Pulau Carey and Bukit Gasing, Selangor State, Malaysia. Results: The overall prevalence of infection was 23.5%(40/170; 95% CI=17.4–30.6). Of this, 35%(14/40; 95% CI=22.1–50.5) and 50%(20/40; 95% CI=35.2–64.8) were positive for single B. pahangi and D. repens, respectively. The remaining of 15%(6/40; 95% CI=7.1–29.1) were positive for mixed B. pahangi and D. repens. In addition, 75% of the infected cats were domestic, and 25% were strays. No Brugia malayi and Dirofilaria immitis was detected. Eighty-four cats were captured at Pulau Carey, of which 35.7%(30/84) were infected. Among the cats determined to be infected, 93%(28/30; 95% CI=78.7–98.2) were domestic, and only 6.7%(2/30; 95% CI=19.0–21.3) were strays. Conversely, the number of infected cats was three times lower in Bukit Gasing than in Pulau Carey, and most of the cats were stray. Conclusions: B. pahangi and D. repens could be the major parasites underlying i lariasis in the study area. Adequate prophylactic plans should be administrated in the cat population in study area.

为了提高第五代移动通信技术（5G）的系统容量,毫米波和大规模多输入多输（Multiple Input Multiple Output,MIMO）被认为是未来的无线通信系统中最有吸引力的技术,它们可以将可用带宽和频谱效率至少提高一个数量级。毫米波频率处的载波波长较小,这使得可以通过具有高增益的大型天线阵列来进行波束赋形,以对抗定向传输带来的路径损耗。预编码技术可以定向发送信号并抑制数据流之间的干扰,因此在大规模MIMO系统中得到了广泛的应用。由于全数字预编码较高的实现复杂性和昂贵的硬件成本,在大规模MIMO系统中并不适用。因此,模拟和数字混合的预编码技术已经成为新的研究热点。本文研究了大规模MIMO系统的基本结构、信道模型和混合预编码技术。主要工作总结如下:1)针对完全连接结构,本文提出了一种近似最优的混合预编码方法。为了提高频谱效率,对数字预编码器施加了正交约束以分离预编码矩阵,并且获得了近似最优的混合预编码矩阵。2)为了进一步降低系统的复杂性,提出了一种具有部分连接结构的混合预编码。首先,利用串行干扰抵消（SIC）的思想将复杂的信道容量转换为独立的子容量,以便获得信道的最大系统容量。然后,应用众所周知的最小二乘法求解。仿真结果表明,所提出的混合预编码算法可以逼近部分连接结构的最佳性能,并且优于基于SIC的预编码算法。3)研究了混合连接结构的预编码设计,其中每个射频链路连接一个天线子阵列,每个天线子阵列的内部是完全连接的结构。仿真结果表明,混合连接结构的频谱效率介于部分连接结构和完全连接结构之间。混合连接结构的复杂性比全连接结构低,且系统性能高于部分连接结构。与全连接架构下的基于矩阵分解的混合预编码方案相比,本文提出的混合预编码算法性能更好。

Aging Effects of Organic and Inorganic Fertilizers on Phosphorus Fractionation in a Calcareous Sandy Loam Soil

In most arid and semiarid soils, naturally occurring phosphorus(P) is a major yield-limiting plant nutrient. In this study, to investigate the effects of organic(OP) and inorganic P(IP) sources on P fractionation, a calcareous sandy loam alkaline soil was fertilized with OP and IP fertilizers at low(80 mg P kg^(-1) soil) and high(160 mg P kg^(-1) soil) application rates. Three combinations of OP and IP(i.e., 75% OP + 25% IP, 50% OP + 50% IP, and 25% OP + 75% IP) were applied at low and high application rates,respectively, followed by soil aging for 21 d. Soil samples were collected after 1, 2, 3, 7, and 21 d and subjected to sequential extraction to analyze soluble and exchangeable, Fe-and Al-bound, Ca-bound, and residual P fractions. The soluble and exchangeable P fraction significantly increased up to 24.3%, whereas the Ca-bound fraction decreased up to 40.7% in the soils receiving 75% OP + 25% IP and 50% OP + 50% IP, respectively, compared with the control(receiving no P fertilizer). However, the transformation of P fractions was influenced by aging time. Addition of P sources caused instant changes in different P fractions, which then tended to decline with aging time. Change in soil p H was the limiting factor in controlling P availability. At high application rate, the OP source significantly increased soil P availability compared with the IP source with soil aging. Depending on P fractionation, a proper combination of OP and IP fertilizers, as long-term slow and instant P-releasing sources for plant uptake, respectively, may be a sustainable strategy to meet crop P requirements in the arid and semiarid soils.

开发特殊的多相材料用于提高过渡金属催化剂的原子效率是有机合成中的一个重要问题,由于他们简单分离而又易回收的特性,并且它的反应催化活性在反应中不受影响,在科研和生产应用中一直为科研工作者及其工程师所探究。本文研究了两种类型非均相催化剂的构建:(1)受独特的中空壳结构和多孔有机硅烷辅助材料拥有高稳定性的启发,我们通过以TEOS(正硅酸四乙酯)为硅源,CTAB(十六烷基三甲基溴化铵)为模板剂,经过刻蚀、去除模板剂等过程,通过用2-(二苯基膦基)乙基三乙氧基硅烷改性内壁,并将衍生物二苯基膦与Pd(OAc)交联,构建了中空介孔结构的介孔二氧化硅基非均相催化剂HS@Pd PPh@MSN。通过结构分析和材料表征,表明内壳内有明确定义的单点Pd活性物质,并且提供了HS@Pd PPh@与相关的均相对照,通过与其他核/中空壳固体催化剂相比,MSN表现出优异的催化能力和活性。催化剂HS@Pd PPh@MSN在1-碘-4-甲氧基苯和苯基硼酸的有效Suzuki-Miyaura交叉偶联反应中,得到一系列二芳基,产率高达95%。此外,催化剂HS@Pd PPh@MSN还可以在过滤和洗涤后回收,并在Suzuki-Miyaura偶联反应中可以循环使用10次,反应中保持其活性并未发生变化。这种简单而经济高效的构造HS@Pd PPh@MSN纳米材料使其在精细化学工程中具有广阔的应用前景,符合绿色化学工艺的理念。(2)受到经典易得的手性有机分子笼CC3的启发,并对其进行改造。我们首先合成了1,3,5-三(对甲酰基苯基)苯,再利用其与手性环己二胺进行可逆的缩合反应,创新性地合成了CC3-4Ph手性有机分子笼。将CC3-4Ph经过简单的还原操作合成RCC3-4Ph后,利用其独特的空间构型,并通过环己二胺的螯合能力配位镍离子后,在自制手性配体的辅助下,探究了其对迈克尔加成反应的应用。结果表明该分子笼独特的手性结构以及双氮中心的辅助,能够以较高的反应效率以及不对称选择性催化迈克尔加成反应,从而构建高对映选择性的迈克尔加成产物,底物适用范围广,有较广的应用前景。
