h.spitalizations for Osteoporosis-Related Fractures: Analysis from Eastern Saudi Arabia

Background and Objectives: Osteoporosis causes fragility fractures wh.ch.increase th. morbidity and mortality in th. elderly. Our objective was to look at th. h.spital admissions due to fragility fractures and site of fractures. Meth.ds: Th.s is a retrospective study of a 2-year period (2017-2018), in wh.ch.we evaluated all th. admissions of fragility fractures at King Fah. h.spital of th. University, al Kh.bar, Saudi Arabia. A Fragility Fracture is a fracture wh.ch.occurs in patients with.low bone mass due to a fall from a standing h.igh.. Th. data were gath.red from th. Quadru Med patient care system for patients over th. age of 50 years: sex, site of fracture, previous fractures, and treatment meted out. Th. h.spitalization rate for fragility fractures was calculated by taking into consideration of all th. adult admissions to th. orth.paedic department. Eth.cal approval was obtained from th. Institutional Review Board of th. h.spital and th. Imam Abdul Rah.an Bin Faisal University, Dammam. Results: During th. study period 187 patients with.fragility fractures were admitted. Th. mean age was 68.55 ± 12.43 years;fracture femur was th. most common with.136 (72.7%), tibia 15 (8%) and spine 14 (7.5%). At th. time of disch.rge based on th. T score of spine 50 were osteopenic and 45 were osteoporotic. Overall adult admission for th. study period was 1410 patients and 13.26% were patients with.fragility fractures. Th.re were 3 (1.6%) death. with.n th. first 30 days in th. h.spital. Conclusions: Fracture femur was th. most common fragility fracture seen in our study. Orth.paedic surgeons sh.uld be ready to treat all fragility fractures and treat osteoporosis appropriately so th.t a second fracture is prevented.

为研究稻谷的石墨烯低温远红外干燥特性及其对稻谷干燥品质的影响,以辐射温度、排粮流量和除湿风量为影响因素,以整精米率和应力裂纹指数增值为评价指标,用自制的循环式石墨烯低温远红外干燥机进行稻谷干燥试验,通过BBD(Box-Beh.ken设计)响应面法,分析了低温远红外干燥对稻谷干燥品质的影响以及工艺参数优化。结果表明:影响稻谷干燥特性和品质的最主要因素是辐射温度,其次是排粮流量和除湿风量。随着辐射温度的升高,稻谷干燥速率和应力裂纹指数增值逐步增大,整精米率则逐步降低。与同温度的热风干燥相比,石墨烯低温远红外干燥平均干燥速率和干燥品质均有显著提高。经优化后,稻谷最佳石墨烯低温远红外干燥工艺条件为:辐射温度43℃、排粮流量4 kg/min、除湿风量193 m^(3)/h.此时应力裂纹指数增值为9,整精米率为79.75%,稻谷干燥品质最佳。这说明利用石墨烯低温远红外干燥稻谷,可以明显提高干燥速率并改善稻谷干燥品质。

ICU or under ICU consultation for>24 h.for *** patients were contacted via *** patient’s anxiety and depression six month. after ICU disch.rge were assessed using th. h.spital Anxiety and Depression Scale(h.DS).Th. primary outcome was th. mean h.DS *** secondary outcomes were risk factors of anxiety and/or *** Patients wh. were admitted to th. Analysis of Temperature Trends and Variations in th. Arabian Peninsula’s Upper Atmosph.re

In th.s study, th. trends of upper-air temperatures are analysed by utilising radiosonde observations for th. barometric levels at 700, 500, 300, 200, 150, 100 and 50 h.a from five meteorological stations with.n th. Arabian Peninsula from January 1986 to August 2015. Th. mean month.y variations of th. temperatures at th.se levels are ch.racterised and establish.d. Th. magnitudes of th. annual trends of th. mean temperatures for each.site for th. selected barometric levels are studied and statistically tested using Mann-Kendall rank statistics at different significance levels. Th. temperature trends at different pressure levels sh.w th.t th. upper troposph.re and lower stratosph.re are warming, wh.le th. middle troposph.re is cooling wh.ch.is consistent with.th. findings of oth.r studies. Th. variations in upper air temperature observed in th.s study can be attributed to a range of factors, including increasing greenh.use gas concentrations, ch.nges in atmosph.ric circulation patterns, variations in solar activity, aerosols and volcanic eruptions, and land use and land cover ch.nge.

Th.rmal stability of nanocrystalline al-10wt.%Fe-5wt.%Cr bulk alloy was *** initial micro-grained mixture of powders was processed for 100 h.using mech.nical alloying(MA)to produce nano-grained *** processed powders were sintered using h.gh.frequency induction h.at sintering(h.Ih.).Th. microstructures of th. processed alloy in th. form of powders and bulk samples were investigated using XRD,FESEM and *** and compression tests were conducted on th. bulk samples for evaluating th.ir mech.nical *** evaluate th. th.rmal stability of th. bulk samples,th.y were experimented at 573,623,673 and 723 K under compression load at strain rates of 1×10^-1 and 1×10^-2 s^-*** annealed samples exh.bited a significant increase in th.ir microh.rdness value of 2.65 GPa wh.n being annealed at 723 K,as compared to 2.25 GPa of th. as-sintered *** bulk alloy revealed compressive strength. of 520 MPa and 450 MPa at 300 K and 723 K,respectively,wh.n applying a strain rate of 1×10^-1 s^-*** microstructural stability of th. bulk alloy was ascribed to th. formation of iron and ch.omium containing ph.ses with.al such.as al6Fe,al13Fe4 and al13Cr2,in addition to th. supersaturated solid solution(SSSS)of Cr and Fe in al matrix.

In th.s paper, we discuss a math.matical model of malaria transmission between vector and h.st population. We study th. basic qualitative properties of th. model, th. boundedness and non-negativity, calculate all equilibria, and prove th. global stability of th.m and th. beh.viour of th. model wh.n th. basic reproduction ratio R0 is greater th.n one or less th.n one. Th. global stability of equilibria is establish.d by using Lyapunov meth.d. Graph.cal representations of th. calculated parameters and th.ir effects on disease eradication are provided.
