Knowledge, Attitude, and Practices Regarding Diabetic Eye Disease among General Population in Medina City, Saudi Arabia

Background: Diabetic eye disease is known as a group of eye problems that diabetic patients may develop as a complication of diabetes and can lead to blindness. They may include Diabetic retinopathy (DR), Cataracts, and Glaucoma. Objectives: This study aims to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practices (KAP) around diabetic eye disease in the general population including patients with DM and non-diabetic people in Medina City, Saudi Arabia. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study involving 385 participants via a self-administered online Questionnaire started in January 2023 in Medina, Saudi Arabia. Results: In total, 339 participants with ages ranged from 18 to more than 60 years with a mean age of 26.8 ± 12.6 years old completed the questionnaire. The majority were females (74.6%), singles (67.8%), and had a university level of education (54.6%). Most of the study participants were found to have poor knowledge levels (67%) in comparison to 33% who had an overall good knowledge of diabetic eye diseases. Knowledge level was found to be higher among old-aged participants and those with a family history of DM (P = 0.001, P = 0.049) respectively. Regarding participants’ attitudes and practices, the study showed good attitudes toward eye care practice for diabetics with half of the participants (50%) reporting self-awareness as a reason that made them undergo the first eye screening. Conclusion: Participants in the present study have poor knowledge and awareness level of diabetic eye disease. Furthermore, positive attitudes and perceptions have been revealed by the participants toward the practice of providing eye care for diabetics. .

Nasal Dermoid Cyst with Sinus Tract Intranasal Bone: A Case Report

Dermoid cysts are benign tumors originating from germ cells, which can form in various locations, including the nasal area in rare cases. They are of unknown exact etiology, but it is suggested that it is due to abnormal tissue migration during early embryonic development. Nasal dermoid cysts albeit rare, can present in various forms such as sinuses, fistulas, or intracranially extending tracts. They can be asymptomatic and incidentally discovered or present with a visible external mass or sinus that is either painful, infected or cosmetically concerning. If nasal dermoid cysts with an intra-nasal bone sinus tract are left untreated, they can lead to life-threatening complications. This report describes the case of a 6-year-old girl with a nasal dermoid cyst connected to a superficial punctum by an intra-nasal tract. She had undergone surgical excision of a nasal swelling previously diagnosed as a dermoid cyst. One year later, she returned to our clinic with a recurrence of the nasal swelling. Imaging tests revealed a nasal dermoid cyst with a tract extending to the nasal tip, without intracranial expansion. The cyst, along with the entire tract, was successfully removed surgically, and the postoperative follow-up indicated no complications. Histopathology confirmed the diagnosis of a dermoid cyst. This case underscores the significance of considering the dermoid tract in nasal cyst cases and the necessity of its complete removal to prevent recurrence.

The Internet of Things(IoT)is growing rapidly and impacting almost every aspect of our lives,fromwearables and healthcare to security,traffic management,and fleet management *** has generated massive volumes of data and security,and data privacy risks are increasing with the advancement of technology and network *** access control solutions are inadequate for establishing access control in IoT systems to provide data protection owing to their vulnerability to single-point OF ***,conventional privacy preservation methods have high latency costs and overhead for resource-constrained *** machine learning approaches were also unable to detect denial-of-service(DoS)*** study introduced a novel decentralized and secure framework for blockchain *** avoid single-point OF failure,an accredited access control scheme is incorporated,combining blockchain with local peers to record each transaction and verify the signature to ***-based attribute-based cryptography is implemented to protect data storage privacy by generating threshold parameters,managing keys,and revoking users on the *** innovative contract-based DOS attack mitigation method is also incorporated to effectively validate devices with intelligent contracts as trusted or untrusted,preventing the server from becoming *** proposed framework effectively controls access,safeguards data privacy,and reduces the risk of *** results depict that the suggested framework outperforms the results in terms of accuracy,precision,sensitivity,recall,and F-measure at 96.9%,98.43%,98.8%,98.43%,and 98.4%,respectively.

COVID-19 Pandemic Data Predict the Stock Market

Unlike the 2007–2008 market crash,which was caused by a banking failure and led to an economic recession,the 1918 inﬂuenza pandemic triggered a worldwideﬁnancial *** usually affect the global economy,and the COVID-19 pandemic is no *** stock markets have fallen over 40%,and companies are shutting down,ending contracts,and issuing volun-tary and involuntary leaves for thousands of *** economic effects have led to an increase in unemployment rates,crime,and *** pandemics’economic effects,especially on the stock market,has not been urgent or feasible until ***,with advances in artiﬁcial intelligence(AI)and the inter-connectivity that social media provides,such research has become *** this paper,we propose a COVID-19-based stock market prediction system(C19-SM2)that utilizes social *** AI system enables economists to study how COVID-19 pandemic data inﬂuence social media and,hence,the stock market.C19-SM2 gathers COVID-19 infection and death cases reported by the authorities and social media data from a geographic area and extracts the sentiments and events that occur in that *** information is then fed to the support vector machine(SVM)and random forest and random tree classiﬁers along with current stock market ***,the system produces a projection of the stock market’s movement during the next *** tested the system with the Dow Jones Industrial Average(DJI)and the Tadawul All Share Index(TASI).Our system achieved a stock market prediction accuracy of 99.71%,substantially higher than the 89.93%accuracy reported in the related literature;the inclusion of COVID-19 data improved accuracy by 9.78%.

Explainable Software Fault Localization Model: From Blackbox to Whitebox

The most resource-intensive and laborious part of debugging is finding the exact location of the fault from the more significant number of code *** of machine intelligence models has offered the effective localization of *** models can precisely locate the faulty with more than 95%accuracy,resulting in demand for trustworthy models in fault *** and trustworthiness within machine intelligencebased software models can only be achieved via explainable artificial intelligence in Fault Localization(XFL).The current study presents a model for generating counterfactual interpretations for the fault localization model’s *** system approximations and disseminated presentation of input information may be achieved by building a nonlinear neural network *** demonstrates a high level of proficiency in transfer learning,even with minimal training *** proposed XFL would make the decisionmaking transparent simultaneously without impacting the model’s *** proposed XFL ranks the software program statements based on the possible vulnerability score approximated from the training *** model’s performance is further evaluated using various metrics like the number of assessed statements,confidence level of fault localization,and TopN evaluation strategies.

Choanal atresia (CA) is a rare occlusion of the posterior choanae. Unilateral cases have been reported more than bilaterally, and it’s more often right-sided in those patients. According to the literature, mixed bony-membranous atresia is the most common type. There is a high incidence of craniofacial and visceral anomalies associated with congenital choanal atresia. Therefore, investigation for associated congenital anomalies is an important step before the surgery. We report 2 cases of incidental finding of unilateral choanal atresia in a 21- and 17-year-old with nasal discharge being the only complaint in the former and nasal obstruction with headache in the latter. The patients were then scheduled for day-surgery as a case of choanal atresia for transnasal, endoscopic repair and posterior septectomy. The patients were discharged home on the same day with the absence of restenosis or other complications.

Unified Computational Modelling for Healthcare Device Security Assessment

This article evaluates the security techniques that are used to maintainthe healthcare devices, and proposes a mathematical model to list these in theorder of priority and preference. To accomplish the stated objective, the articleuses the Fuzzy Analytic Network Process (ANP) integrated with Technical forOrder Preference by Similarities to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) to find the suitablealternatives of the security techniques for securing the healthcare devices fromtrespassing. The methodology is enlisted to rank the alternatives/ techniquesbased on their weights’ satisfaction degree. Thereafter, the ranks of the alternatives determine the order of priority for the techniques used in healthcare *** findings of our analysis cite that Machine Learning (ML) based healthcaredevices obtained the highest priority among all the other security *** the developers, manufacturers and researchers should focus on the MLtechniques for securing the healthcare devices. The results drawn through theaid of the suggested mathematical model would be a corroborative referencefor the developers and the manufacturers in assessing the security techniques ofthe healthcare devices.
