The Impact of Electronic Cigarettes (e-Cigs) Smoking Habit on Periodontal Status and Salivary pH among Some Passive e-Cigs Smokers Referred to the College of Dentistry Clinics, King Khalid University

Background: Electronic cigarette (e-cigs) smoking is substitutional to traditional cigarette smoking to reduce the dangerous combustion of products. Moreover, passive smoking is involuntarily tobacco smoking due to the exposure to cigarette or tobacco smoke among non-smokers and due to there being little knowledge about the impact of passive e-cigs smoking on periodontal status and salivary pH. Therefore, the present study aimed to evaluate the effect of e-cigs smoking habit on periodontal tissue and salivary pH among some passive e-cigs smokers referred to the college of dentistry clinics, King Khalid University. Material and Methods: Ninety male participants who were referred to the college of dentistry clinics at King Khalid University were included in the study. Age, gender, e-cigs smoking, and general health were recorded. The participants were divided into three equal groups (n = 30) as follows: Group I (Non-passive e-cigs smokers and non-smokers) as the control group, Group II (e-cigs users), and Group III (Passive e-cigs smokers). Salivary pH, plaque control record (PCR), gingival bleeding index (GBI), clinical attachment loss (CAL), percentage of radiographic bone loss (% RBL), periodontal pocket depth (PPD), more than 5 missing teeth due to periodontal diseases (>5 MTDP), tooth mobility (TM), furcation involvement (FI), Bite collapse (BC), and less than 20 remaining teeth (10 Opposing pairs) (L20RT) as well as HbA1c were recorded. ANOVA test was used to the comparison between Groups I, II, and III in the participants’ ages and periodontitis staging clinical findings. The mean of participants’ age groups, the mean of salivary pH values of study groups, and the periodontitis staging complexity and HbA1c were compared between groups with the ANOVA test, Tukey’s test, and the chi-square test. Accurate Phase Detection for ZigBee Using Artificial Neural Network

The IEEE802.15.4 standard has been widely used in modern industry due to its several benefits for stability,scalability,and enhancement of wireless mesh *** standard uses a physical layer of binary phase-shift keying(BPSK)modulation and can be operated with two frequency bands,868 and 915 *** frequency noise could interfere with the BPSK signal,which causes distortion to the signal before its arrival at ***,filtering the BPSK signal from noise is essential to ensure carrying the signal from the sen-der to the receiver with less ***,removing signal noise in the BPSK signal is necessary to mitigate its negative sequences and increase its capability in industrial wireless sensor ***,researchers have reported a posi-tive impact of utilizing the Kalmen filter in detecting the modulated signal at the receiver side in different communication systems,including ***-while,artificial neural network(ANN)and machine learning(ML)models outper-formed results for predicting signals for detection and classification *** paper develops a neural network predictive detection method to enhance the performance of BPSK ***,a simulation-based model is used to generate the modulated signal of BPSK in the IEEE802.15.4 wireless personal area network(WPAN)***,Gaussian noise was injected into the BPSK simulation *** reduce the noise of BPSK phase signals,a recurrent neural networks(RNN)model is implemented and integrated at the receiver side to esti-mate the BPSK’s phase *** evaluated our predictive-detection RNN model using mean square error(MSE),correlation coefficient,recall,and F1-score *** result shows that our predictive-detection method is superior to the existing model due to the low MSE and correlation coefficient(R-value)metric for different signal-to-noise(SNR)*** addition,our RNN-based model scored 98.71%and 96.34%based on recall and F1-score,respectively.

Correlation Study between Skeletal Scintigraphy and CT Scan in Diagnosing Bone Metastases

A retrospective study for 98 patient suspected to bone scan at department of radiology take place, to find out which imaging modality is more sensitive between computed tomography (CT) and bone scan;age group of patient was from 1 year to 90 year, the highest Site of Metastases for both Bone scan & CT was at vertebra with 31%, and the positive finding was also 31% for bone scan, while for CT the highest Site of Metastases was at forearm with 34%, and the sensitivity for CT was 44%, and 56% for bone scan. The study recommends that patients with bone metastases are kindly recommended to bone scan investigation rather than CT scan.

Biometric-based authentication systems have attracted more attention than traditional authentication techniques such as passwords in the last two *** biometrics such as fingerprint,palm,iris,palm vein and finger vein and other biometrics have been *** of the challenges in biometrics is physical *** of finger vein is of the biometrics least exposed to physical *** methods have been proposed for authentication with the help of this biometric that suffer from weaknesses such as high computational complexity and low identification *** paper presents a novel method of scattering wavelet-based identity *** wavelet extracts image features from Gabor wavelet filters in a structure similar to convolutional neural *** distinguishes this algorithm from other popular feature extraction methods such as deep learning methods,filter-based methods,statistical methods,etc.,is that this algorithm has very high skill and accuracy in differentiating similar images but belongs to different classes,even when the image is subject to serious damage such as noise,angle changes or pixel location,this descriptor still generates feature vectors in away thatminimizes classifier *** improves classification and *** proposed method has been evaluated using two databases Finger Vein USM(FV-USM)and Homologous Multimodal biometrics Traits(SDUMLA-HMT).In addition to having reasonable computational complexity,it has recorded excellent identification rates in noise,rotation,and transmission *** best,it has a 98.2%identification rate for the SDUMLA-HMT database and a 96.1%identification rate for the FV-USM database.

One of the major concerns for the utilities in the Smart Grid(SG)is electricity *** the implementation of smart meters,the frequency of energy usage and data collection from smart homes has increased,which makes it possible for advanced data analysis that was not previously *** this purpose,we have taken historical data of energy thieves and normal *** avoid imbalance observation,biased estimates,we applied the interpolation ***,the data unbalancing issue is resolved in this paper by Nearmiss undersampling technique and makes the data suitable for further *** proposing an improved version of Zeiler and Fergus Net(ZFNet)as a feature extraction approach,we had able to reduce the model’s time *** minimize the overfitting issues,increase the training accuracy and reduce the training loss,we have proposed an enhanced method by merging Adaptive Boosting(AdaBoost)classifier with Coronavirus Herd Immunity Optimizer(CHIO)and Forensic based Investigation Optimizer(FBIO).In terms of low computational complexity,minimized over-fitting problems on a large quantity of data,reduced training time and training loss and increased training accuracy,our model outperforms the benchmark *** proposed algorithms Ada-CHIO andAda-FBIO,have the low MeanAverage Percentage Error(MAPE)value of error,i.e.,6.8%and 9.5%,***,due to the stability of our model our proposed algorithms Ada-CHIO and Ada-FBIO have achieved the accuracy of 93%and 90%.Statistical analysis shows that the hypothesis we proved using statistics is authentic for the proposed technique against benchmark algorithms,which also depicts the superiority of our proposed techniques.

Breast cancer is one of the leading cancers among *** has the second-highest mortality rate in women after lung *** detection,especially in the early stages,can help increase survival ***,manual diagnosis of breast cancer is a tedious and time-consuming process,and the accuracy of detection is reliant on the quality of the images and the radiologist’s ***,computer-aided medical diagnosis has recently shown promising results,leading to the need to develop an efficient system that can aid radiologists in diagnosing breast cancer in its early *** research presented in this paper is focused on the multi-class classification of breast *** deep transfer learning approach has been utilized to train the deep learning models,and a pre-processing technique has been used to improve the quality of the ultrasound *** proposed technique utilizes two deep learning models,Mobile-NetV2 and DenseNet201,for the composition of the deep ensemble *** learning models are fine-tuned along with hyperparameter tuning to achieve better ***,entropy-based feature selection is *** cancer identification using the proposed classification approach was found to attain an accuracy of 97.04%,while the sensitivity and F1 score were 96.87%and 96.76%,*** performance of the proposed model is very effective and outperforms other state-of-the-art techniques presented in the literature.
