Choroidal thickness measurements in young saudi adult population: a cross-sectional study

AIM:To determine the choroidal thickness(CT)in young healthy saudi adults using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography(sD-OCT)with an automated CT segmentation ***:Fifty-eight young adults(total of 116 eyes),39 males and 19 females participated in this study between the ages of 18 and 38y(mean 22.65±3.9y).All participants underwent ophthalmic screening examination,including the sD-OCT for measurements of CT in each quadrant egmented into five eccentric regions starting from the foveal region up to 4.5 mm towards the ***:The choroid was thickest in the foveal region(central 1 mm,300±60μm)and began to progressively thinner beyond the parafovea(1.5–2.5 mm,284±67μm)towards the peripheral region(3.5–4.5 mm from the fovea,254±83μm).The superior choroid showed the thickest profile(309±57μm),while the nasal choroid exhibited the thinnest(229±76μm).The rate of the thinning with increasing eccentricity was more predominant in the nasal choroid,which thinned from the foveal region(294±58μm)to the peripheral region(158±55μm).The superior and inferior choroid did not show a statistically significant thinning with eccentricity(all P>0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the CT between gender,age,and laterality of the eyes(all P>0.05).A significant association of myopia with thinner subfoveal choroid was observed(Pearson’s,r=0.37),and regression analysis showed that a 10.3μm choroidal thinning for each diopter increase of ***:CT profile depends on eccentric and the *** CT profile across the measured area in the young saudi adult population is comparable to other previous *** error is critical for CT evaluation.

Unusual Case of Unilateral Neonatal Eyeball Luxation: A Case Report

The newborn infant presented with severe proptosis. Data on clinical history, presentation, photos, radiological imaging, and laboratory results were presented. A literature review was conducted for the case and relevant treatment modalities. The surgical technique and the outcome were also discussed. The mass was present since birth in a full term neonate, causing complete globe dislocation of the left eye. Imaging showed a large cystic retro-bulbar mass completely occupying the orbital cavity and causing anterior dislocation of the left globe. surgical excision of the tumor was carried out with globe preservation and Histopathology examination confirmed the diagnosis of optic nerve glioma. This was an atypical presentation of an optic nerve glioma causing globe dislocation in a neonate. The resection of such a large orbital tumor made globe preservation possible and resulted in an excellent cosmetic outcome. .

To increase the payload,reduce energy consumption,improve work efficiency and therefore must accordingly reduce the total hull weight of the *** paper introduces a design optimization process for the pressurehull of submarines under uniform external hydrostatic pressure using bothfinite element analysis(FEA)and optimization tools.A comprehensive study about the optimum design of the pressure hull,to minimize the weight and increase the volume,to reach minimum buoyancy factor and maximum operating depth minimizing the buoyancy factor(B.F)is taken as an objective function with constraints of plate and frame yielding,general instability and *** optimization process contains many design variables such as pressure-hull plate thickness,unsupported spacing,dimensions of long and ring beams andfinally the elliptical submersible pressure-hull *** optimization process was conducted using ANsYs parametric design language(APDL)and *** Multi-Island Genetic Algorithm(G.A)is considered to conduct the optimization ***,parametric analysis is done on the pressure hull to examine the effect of different design variables on the pressure-hull *** a result,the B.F of the proposed optimal model is reduced by an average of 31.78%compared with Reference Model(RM).Maximum von Mises stress is reduced by 27%as *** results can be helpful for submarine pressure-hull designers.

Developing an Abstraction Framework for Managing and Controlling saudi Banks’ Cybersecurity Threats Based on the NIsT Cybersecurity Framework and IsO/IEC 27001

saudi Arabian banks are deeply concerned about how to effectively monitor and control security threats. In recent years, the country has taken several steps towards restructuring its organizational security and, consequently, protecting financial institutions and their clients. However, there are still several challenges left to be addressed. Accordingly, this article aims to address this problem by proposing an abstract framework based on the National Institute of standards and Technology (NIsT) Cybersecurity Framework and International Organization for standardization/International Electrotechnical Commission (IsO/IEC 27001). The framework proposed in this paper considers the following factors involved in the security policy of saudi banks: safety, saudi information bank, operations and security of saudi banks, saudi banks’ supplier relationships, risk assessment, risk mitigation, monitoring and detection, incident response, saudi banks’ business continuity, compliance, education, and awareness about all factors contributing to the framework implementation. This way, the proposed framework provides a comprehensive, unified approach to managing bank security threats. Not only does the proposed framework provide effective guidance on how to identify, assess, and mitigate security threats, but it also instructs how to develop policy and procedure documents relating to security issues.

Poly(thiourea triethylene glycol) as a multifunctional binder for enhanced performance in lithium-sulfur batteries

A mechanically strong binder with polar functional groups could overcome the dilemma of the large volume change during charge/discharge processes and poor cyclability of lithium-sulfur batteries(LsBs).In this work,for the first time,we report the use of poly(thiourea triethylene glycol)(PTTG)as a multifunctional binder for sulfur cathodes to enhance the performance of *** expected,the PTTG binder facilitates the high performance and stability delivered by the sulfur-PTTG cathode,including a higher reversible capacity of 825 mAh g^(-1) at 0.2 C after 80 cycles,a lower capacity fading(0.123%per cycle)over 350 cycles at 0.5 C,a higher areal capacity of 2.5 mAh cm^(-2) at 0.25 mA cm^(-2),and better rate capability of 587 mAh g^(-1) at 2 *** superior electrochemical performances could be attributed to PTTG's strong chemical adsorption towards polysulfides which may avoid the lithium polysulfide shuttle effect and excellent mechanical characteristics which prevents electrode collapse during cycling and allows the sulfur-PTTG electrode to maintain robust electron and ion migration pathways for accelerated redox reaction kinetics.

Thyroid hormones play essential roles in spermatogenesis,but their effects on infertile males remain poorly *** study aimed to evaluate the impact of combining carbimazole(CBZ)with vitamin E(VE)on testicular injury induced by experimental hyperthyroidism in adult albino rats,focusing on oxidative,inflammatory,and apoptotic *** this experimental study,64 adult male albino Wistar rats were divided into eight groups:Group I(control-untreated),Group II(CBZ-control),Group III(VE-control),Group IV(CBZ+VE-control),Group V(levothyroxine-induced testicular injury),Group VI(levothyroxine+CBZ-treated),Group VII(levothyroxine+VE-treated),and Group VIII(levothyroxine+CBZ+VE-treated).The study was conducted in the Faculty of Medicine,suez Canal University(Ismailia,Egypt).After cervical decapitation,both testes and epididymis were examined histopathologically and *** differences were observed among groups concerning malondialdehyde(MDA),glutathione(GsH),superoxide dismutase(sOD),and catalase(CAT;all Pse chain reaction analysis showed significant differences in tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-10(IL-10),Bcl-2-associated X protein(BAX),B-cell lymphoma 2 protein(Bcl2),p53,Caspase-3,Caspase-8,Caspase-9,and nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)mRNA levels(all Psticular side effects,affecting seminiferous tubules and ***,the Group VIII showed improved spermatogenesis and a decrease in testicular side *** addition of VE to the treatment of hyperthyroid rats with CBZ reduced testicular side effects and seminiferous tubular affection when potentially improving *** research is needed to elucidate the underlying mechanisms fully.
