Quantitative risk of positive family history in developing colorectal cancer: A meta-analysis

BACKGROUnD Positive family history is a risk factor for development of colorectal *** numerous studies on the topic,the absolute risk in patients with a positive family history remains unclear and therefore studies are lacking to validate non-invasive screening methods in individuals with positive family *** To quantify the risk of colorectal cancer in individuals with a positive family *** A comprehensive electronic literature search was performed using PubMed from January 1955 until november 2017,EMBASE from 1947 until 2018,and Cochrane Library without date *** independent reviewers conducted study selection,data extraction and quality assessment.A meta-analysis of Mantel-Haenzel relative risks was performed using the random effects ***-Ottawa scale was used to score the quality of selected *** plot and Egger’s regression test was performed to detect publication *** analysis was performed comparing Asian and non-Asian *** analyses were performed to rule out the effect of the timing of the study,overall quality,the main outcome and the effect of each individual study in overall *** Forty-six out of 3390 studies,including 906981 patients were included in the final analysis.41 of the included studies were case-control and 5 were cohort.A positive family history of colorectal cancer in first-degree relatives was associated with significantly increased risk of colorectal cancer with a relative risk of 1.87(95%CI:1.68-2.09;Pne Q test was significant(Pn test showed asymmetry in the funnel plot and therefore the Trim and Fill method was used which confirmed the validity of the *** was no difference between Asian versus non-Asian *** remained robust in sensitivity *** Individuals with a positive family history of colorectal cancer are 1.87 times more likely to develop colorectal cancer

Multi-criteria decision making(MCDM)is a technique used to achieve better outcomes for some complex business-related problems,whereby the selection of the best alternative can be made in as many cases as *** paper proposes a model,the multi-criteria decision support method,that allows both service providers and consumers to maximize their profits while preserving the best matching process for resource allocation and task *** increasing number of service providers with different service provision capabilities creates an issue for consumers seeking to select the best service *** consumer seeks a service provider based on various preferences,such as price,service quality,and time to complete the *** the literature,the problem is viewed from different perspectives,such as investigating how to enhance task scheduling and the resource allocation process,improve consumers’trust,and deal with network *** paper offers a novel model that considers the preferences of both service providers and consumers to find the best available service provider for each ***,the model adopts the best-worst method(BWM)to gather and prioritize tasks based on consumers’and service providers’***,the model calculates and matches similarities between the sets of tasks from the consumer’s side with the sets of tasks from the provider’s side to select the best service provider for each consumer using the two proposed *** complexity of the two algorithms is found to be O(n3).

BACKGROUnD Relapse following orthodontic treatment has been a common problem that can occur due to several factors. It was suggested that surgical circumferential supracrestal fiberotomy(CSF) is an effective measure to reduce this ***, very few studies have reported the amount of relapse that occurs *** To assess the frequency of rotational relapse on anterior teeth 1 year following *** Eleven adults(six male and five female) with a mean age of 23 years(standard deviation = 5.2), who had a total of 90 rotated anterior teeth, were included in this study. CSF was performed after comprehensive orthodontic treatment involving the use of full-fixed preadjusted edgewise appliances(Victory Series APC, 3 M,United States) with a 0.022-inch slot and Roth prescription brackets(Ovation;DEnTSPLY GAC, Bohemia, new York, United States) and placement of a fixed lingual retainer from canine to canine in both arches using a 0.016 Australian wire(AJ Wilcock, Australia). Degrees of rotational correction and relapse were measured on three sets of casts [pretreatment, post-treatment(at the debond visit), and 1-year post-treatment]. Rotational relapse was categorized as follows:Unnoticeable relapse(0°), barely noticeable relapse(1°-3°), noticeable relapse(4°-9°), and clearly noticeable relapse(≥ 10°). The percent relapse that had occurred 1 year after teeth were aligned to their ideal position was calculated. Data were analyzed by dental arch type and tooth *** Mean rotational correction was 14.05° during posttreatment. Mean relapse at 1-year follow-up was 1.1°(10.8%). More than half(n = 52, 57.8%) of teeth were categorized as having unnoticeable relapse(0°). Of the remaining teeth, 31(34.5%) had barely noticeable relapse(1°-3°), 6(6.6%) had noticeable relapse(4°-9°), and only one(1.1%) had clearly noticeable relapse(> 10°). AIM To identify reproductive disturbances among adolescent girls and young women with type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1 DM) in Saudi *** This cross sectional study was conducted among 102 female with T1 DM,(aged 13-29 years) who attended the Diabetes Clinic at Diabetes Treatment Center, Prince Sultan Military Medical City, Saudi Arabia between April 2015 to March 2016. Clinical history, anthropometric characteristics and reproductive disturbance were collected through a *** Of 102 patients included in this analysis, 26.5%(27/102) were reported that they experienced an irregular menses. Of these patients, when compared to whose diabetes was diagnosed before menarche(35.4%, 17/48), patients diagnosed with diabetes after menarche(18.5%, 10/54) showed significantly less irregular menses(difference 16.9%, P = 0.04). Similarly, compared to patients diagnosed with diabetes prior to menarche(mean age 12.9 years; n = 48), patients diagnosed with diabetes after menarche(meanage 12.26 years; n = 54) were found to have 0.64 years delay in the age of menarche(P = 0.04). Among the studied patients, 15.7%(16/102) had polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS). Of these PCOS patients, 37.5%(6/16) had irregular menses, 6.3%(1/16) had Celiac disease, 37.5%(6/16) had Hashimoto thyroiditis and 18.7%(3/16) had *** More than one fourth of the study population with T1 DM experiencing an irregular menses. Adolescent girls and young women diagnosed with diabetes prior to menarche showed higher menstrual irregularity and a delay in the age of menarche.

AIM:To evaluate the causes of phakic implantable collamer lens(ICL)exchange/explantation in patients with and without keratoconus(KC)at two tertiary hospitals in Riyadh,Saudi ***:A retrospective chart review of all patients who underwent ICL(model V4 c with central port)exchange/explantation was performed using the electronic medical record *** available preoperative and postoperative data were documented for each ***:Over 7 y,2283 ICL implantation procedures were performed;46 implants(2%)required exchange(21 implants)/explantation(25 implants),of which 14 cases(30.4%)were patients with *** for ICL exchange/explantation in non-KC group were vault measurement,cataract formation,increased intraocular pressure,inaccurate refraction,and patient dissatisfaction in 22(68.75%),4(12.5%),3(9.37%),2(6.25%),and 1(3.12%)case,*** most common indication for ICL exchange/explantation in the KC group was inaccurate vault sizing in 11 patients(78.57%),inaccurate refraction in 2 patients(14.28%),and patient dissatisfaction postoperatively in 1(7.14%)***:ICL implantation results in predictable refractive outcomes over the long term with exchange/explantation rates comparable to previous *** vault size is the most common cause of ICL exchange/explantation among patients with or without KC.
