We investigated metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy grown(InGa)(AsSb)/GaAs/GaP Stranski–Krastanov quantum dots(QDs)with potential applications in QD-Flash memories by cross-sectional scanning tunneling microscopy(X-STm)and atom probe tomography(APT).The combination of X-STm and APT is a very powerful approach to study semiconductor heterostructures with atomic resolution,which provides detailed structural and compositional information on the *** rather small QDs are found to be of truncated pyramid shape with a very small top facet and occur in our sample with a very high density of∼4×10^(11) cm^(−2).APT experiments revealed that the QDs are GaAs rich with smaller amounts of In and *** element(FE)simulations are performed using structural data from X-STm to calculate the lattice constant and the outward relaxation of the cleaved *** composition of the QDs is estimated by combining the results from X-STm and the FE simulations,yielding∼In_(x)Ga_(1−x)As_(1−y)Sb_(y),where x=0.25–0.30 and y=0.10–***,the reported composition is in good agreement with the experimental results obtained by APT,previous optical,electrical,and theoretical analysis carried out on this material *** confirms that the InGaSb and GaAs layers involved in the QD formation have strongly intermixed.A detailed analysis of the QD capping layer shows the segregation of Sb and In from the QD layer,where both APT and X-STm show that the Sb mainly resides outside the QDs proving that Sb has mainly acted as a surfactant during the dot *** structural and compositional analysis provides a valuable insight into this novel QD system and a path for further growth optimization to improve the storage time of the QD-Flash memory devices.

Characteristics of U-pattern distribution of high-concentration 210Pb in surface air at central Guizhou,China

A better understanding of the variation of 210Pb concentrations in the surface air is the key to trace lake sedimentation and catchment erosion, to establish and vali-date the global diffusion model of contaminants, and to as-sess the impact of natural radiation on the ecological system. Basing on the study progresses of the sedimentation, the at-mospheric model and the unique environmental background in the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, and starting from December 20, 2001, we made use of a 500 nE Type aerosol sampler to collect filter samples, once a week in the past consecutive two years, in the surface air at mt. Guanfeng, Guiyang City, China. Synchronous detailed γ -energy spectrometric obser-vations of 210Pb concentrations at both Chinese and U.S. laboratories have shown that the average monthly 210Pb concentration displays a regular U-patterns distribution of annual variations, with high values appearing in winter and low values in late spring and summer. The average annual 210Pb concentrations are estimated to be 2.77±0.63 mBq/m3, about 4 times the average maximum concentrations reported from quite a number of monitoring stations throughout the world. The possible factors affecting the sources of 210Pb in the surface air in the central part of Guizhou Province are: Release of 222Rn from the U-ra series enriched in the soils; chemical weathering of carbonate rocks; the exploitation, processing and utilization of coal and phosphorous resources. The principal factor controlling the high 210Pb concentrations in the surface air in the central Guizhou and their annual U-pattern distribution is the release of 222Rn. The average monthly 210Pb concentrations show a good negative power- function relationship with increasing precipitation and also show a good negative linear-function relationship with the rise of air temperature in month grouping. Efficacy of moxifloxacin-based sequential therapy for first-line eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection in gastrointestinal disease

AIm:To evaluate the efficacy of 14-d moxifloxacinbased sequential therapy as first-line eradication treatment of Helicobacter pylori(***) ***:From December 2013 to August 2014, 161 patients with confirmed *** infection randomly received 14 d of moxifloxacin-based sequential group(mOX-ST group, n = 80) or clarithromycin-based sequential group(CLA-ST group, n = 81) *** infection was defined on the basis of at least one of the following three tests:a positive 13C-urea breath test; histologic evidence of *** by modified Giemsa staining; or a positive rapid urease test(CLOtest; Delta West, Bentley, Australia) by gastric mucosal *** eradication therapy for *** infection was defined as a negative 13C-urea breath test four weeks after the end of eradication *** was defined as good when drug intake was at least 85%.*** eradication rates, patient compliance with drug treatment, adverse event rates, and factors influencing the efficacy of eradication therapy were ***:The eradication rates by intention-to-treat analysis were 91.3%(73/80;95%CI:86.2%-95.4%)in the mOX-ST group and 71.6%(58/81;95%CI:65.8%-77.4%)in the CLA-ST group(P=0.014).The eradication rates by per-protocol analysis were 93.6%(73/78;95%CI:89.1%-98.1%)in the mOX-ST group and 75.3%(58/77;95%CI:69.4%-81.8%)in the CLAST group(P=0.022).Compliance was 100%in both *** adverse event rates were 12.8%(10/78)and 24.6%(19/77)in the mOX-ST and CLA-ST group,respectively(P=0.038).most of the adverse events were mild-to-moderate in intensity;there was none serious enough to cause discontinuation of treatmentin either *** multivariate analysis,advanced age(≥60 years)was a significant independent factor related to the eradication failure in the CLA-ST group(adjusted OR=2.13,95%CI:1.97-2.29,P=0.004),whereas there was no significance in the mOX-ST ***:The 14-d moxifloxacin-based sequential therapy is effective.m

Alterations in epigenetic control of gene expression play an important role in many diseases, including gastric cancer. many studies have identified a large number of upregulated oncogenic mi RnAs and downregulated tumour-suppressor mi RnAs in this type of cancer. In this review, we provide an overview of the role of mi RnAs, pointing to their potential to be useful as diagnostic and/or prognostic biomarkers in gastric cancer. moreover, we discuss the influence of polymorphisms and epigenetic modifications on mi RnA activity.
