Development of Lead Free Crystal Glass Using Silica Sand from Gong Belibis Setiu, Terengganu

The silica sand deposit located at km 55 Jalan Pantai Kuala Terengganu-Kuala Besut in the District of Setiu, North Terengganu consists of loose sand of fine to coarse grain size which is developed over the raised beaches of marine origin. The underlying bedrock is believed to be either metasediment of Late Paleozoic age or intrusive granitic rocks. The average content of SiO2 is 99.3% while for the Fe2O3, Al2O3 and TiO2, their average content are 0.1%, 0.3% and 0.2% respectively. The screen analyses show that more than 90 percent of the silica sand is within 150 to 1,180 micron size range. The total area underlain by potential silica sand is about 1.9 million sq. metres with total measured reserve about 2.6 million tonnes. According to Malaysian Standard, MS 701：1981 and British Standard BS 2975：1988, silica sand for making crystal glass should meet the grade B specification in which the purity of silica sand is not less than 99.5% with only a small amount of iron oxide （0.015%）, alumina （0.05%）, chromium oxide （maximum 2 ppm） and other mineral oxides. In the production of crystal glass, a front loading furnace was used and maximum melting temperature was 1400 ℃. After melting process, physical evaluation on the crystal glass products were performed pertaining to complete accomplishment of melting such as existing of bubbles inside crystal glasses. In order to ensure that crystal glass quality meets the international standard, specification for crystal glass published by British standard BS 3828：1973 was taken as a guideline. Some of the parameters are density, surface hardness and refractive index. In general, silica sand from Gong Belibis, Setiu Terengganu is suitable as a raw material for making crystal glass product.

An automatic subdigraph renovation plan for failure recovery of composite semantic Web services

A Web service-based system never fulfills a user＇s goal unless a failure recovery approach exists. It is inevitable that several Web services may either perish or fail before or during transactions. The completion of a composite process relies on the smooth execution of all constituent Web services. A mediator acts as an intermediary between providers and consumers to monitor the execution of these services. If a service fails, the mediator has to recover the whole composite process or else jeopardize achieving the intended goals. The atomic replacement of a perished Web service usually does not apply because the process of locating a matched Web service is unreliable. Even the system cannot depend on the replacement of the dead service with a com- posite service. In this paper, we propose an automatic renova- tion plan for failure recovery of composite semantic services based on an approach of subdigraph replacement. A replacement subdigraph is posed in lieu of an original subdigraph, which includes the failed service. The replacement is done in two separate phases, ofltine and online, to make the recovery faster. The ofitine phase foresees all possible subdigraphs, pre-calculates them, and ranks several possible replacements. The online phase compensates the unwanted effects and executes the replacement subdigraph in lieu of the original subdigraph. We have evaluated our approach during an experiment and have found that we could recover more than half of the simulated failures. These achievements show a significant improvement compared to current approaches

Discovery of the remains of belemnites referred to the Hibolithes *** the Jurassic–Cretaceous Pedawan Formation in Sarawak,on the island of Borneo(Malaysia)comprises four fragments of belemnite *** specimens are characterized by multiple fractures and vein *** fragments measuring about 130 mm are relatively intact,with only part of the alveolar region missing;a third piece represents the middle part of a rostrum,and the fourth specimen is too fragmentary to be assigned to any specific part of the *** on specimen characteristics,a Tithonian–Hauterivian age is *** sedimentary succession that yielded the belemnite material comprises thick shale that reflects the Te division of Bouma *** occurrence of a Hibolithes taxon in the uppermost Jurassic to lowermost Cretaceous Pedawan Formation sediments in Borneo reflects a near to global palaeobiogeographic distribution of this genus.

Anomaly Detection in ICS Datasets with Machine Learning Algorithms

An Intrusion Detection System (IDS) provides a front-line defensemechanism for the Industrial Control System (ICS) dedicated to keeping the process operations running continuously for 24 hours in a day and 7 days in a week.A well-known ICS is the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)system. It supervises the physical process from sensor data and performs remotemonitoring control and diagnostic functions in critical infrastructures. The ICScyber threats are growing at an alarming rate on industrial automation applications. Detection techniques with machine learning algorithms on public datasets,suitable for intrusion detection of cyber-attacks in SCADA systems, as the firstline of defense, have been detailed. The machine learning algorithms have beenperformed with labeled output for prediction classification. The activity trafficbetween ICS components is analyzed and packet inspection of the dataset is performed for the ICS network. The features of flow-based network traffic areextracted for behavior analysis with port-wise profiling based on the data baseline,and anomaly detection classification and prediction using machine learning algorithms are performed.

Parametric study and effect of calcination and carbonation conditions on the CO_2 capture performance of lithium orthosilicate sorbent

The world is currently facing the challenges of global warming and climate change. Numerous efforts have been taken to mitigate CO2 emission, among which is the use of solid sorbents for CO2 capture. In this work, Li4SiO4 was synthesised via a sol-gel method using lithium nitrate （LiNO3） and tetraethylorthosilicate （SiC8H20O4） as precursors. A parametric study of Li：Si molar ratio （1-5）, calcination temperature （600-800℃） and calcination time （1-8 h） were conducted during sorbent synthesis. Calcination temperature （700-800℃） and carbonation temperature （500-700℃） during CO2 sorption activity were also varied to confirm the optimum operating temperature. Sorbent with the highest CO2 sorption capacity was finally introduced to several cyclic tests to study the durability of the sorbent through 10 cycles of CO2 sorption-desorption test. The results showed that the calcination temperature of 800℃ and carbonation temperature of 700℃ were the best operating temperatures, with CO2 sorption capacity of 7.95 mmol CO2·（g sorbent）^-1 （93% of the theoretical yield）. Throughout the ten cyclic processes, CO2 sorption capacity of the sorbent had dropped approximately 16.2% from the first to the tenth cycle, which was a reasonable decline. Thus, it was concluded that Li4SiO4 is a potential CO2 solid sorbent for high temperature CO2 capture activity.

Full quantum mechanical calculations are performed to determine the broadening in the far wings of the cesium D1 and D2 line shapes arising from elastic collisions of Cs atom with inert helium atoms. The potential energy curves of the low-lying CsHe molecular states, as well as the related transition dipole moments, are carefully computed from ab initio methods based on state-averaged complete active space self-consistent field-multireference configuration interaction(SACASSCF-MRCI) calculations, involving the spin-orbit effect, and taking into account the Davidson and BSSE *** absorption and emission reduced coefficients are determined in the temperature and wavelength ranges of 323-3000 K and 800-1000 nm, respectively. Both profiles of the absorption and the emission are dominated by the free-free transitions,and exhibit a satellite peak in the blue wing near the wavelength 825 nm, attributed to B^2Σ1/2^+→ X^2Σ1/2^+/transitions. The results are in good agreement with previous experimental and theoretical works.

A parametric study of methane decomposition into carbon nanotubes over 8Co-2Mo/Al_2O_3 catalyst

The effects of reaction temperature, partial pressure of methane, catalyst weight and gas hourly space velocity （GHSV） on methane decomposition were reported. The decomposition reaction was performed in a vertical fixed-bed reactor over 8Co-2Mo/Al 2 O 3 catalyst. The experimental results show that these four process parameters studied had vital effects on carbon yield. As revealed by the electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy analyses, the reaction temperature and GHSV governed the average diameter, the diameter distribution and the degree of graphitization of the synthesized carbon nanotubes （CNTs）. Also, an evidence is presented to show that higher temperatures and higher GHSV favored the formation of better-graphitized CNTs with larger diameters.

Food waste generation is a pressing issue that requires urgent attention and concerted efforts *** staggering amount of food wasted each year not only wastes valuable resources but also exacerbates environmental,economic,and social *** Waste Management(FWM)consists of a complex array of criteria and sub-criteria,and treatments which seems *** is a need to evaluate the FWM with the help of important criteria and sub-criteria and treatments to address this *** this study,we identified four important criteria,21 sub-criteria,and four alternatives of FWM for the case of Malaysia using the integrated approach of literature review and expert ***,we employed the approach of Modified Fuzzy Improved Analytical Hierarchy Process(IAHP)to corroborate the interrelationships among the identified criteria and sub-criteria,and their associated *** study undertakes linear normalization methods to transform data into comparable numerical values and the Geometric Mean method to handle uncertainty in human ***,the Centroid method is employed to convert fuzzy weights into crisp sets for ease of *** results indicate that environmental is the most essential criterion,followed by social,economic,and *** addition,air and water pollution is identified as the most critical *** Soldier Fly is discovered as the most sustainable FWM treatment,since it performs the best while meeting all the criteria and sub-criteria *** analysis demonstrates that the outputs from the proposed method are robust and *** finding suggests a proper and robust approach to help decision-makers select suitable FWM treatments to tackle various criteria and alternatives especially when handling inconsistent and uncertain judgments during evaluation.

Generalization of buildings within the framework of CityGML

For a better visual impression,3D information systems and architecture need detailed,photo-realistic visualization of 3D ***,easy accessibility with efficient rendering becomes difficult due to the detailed data associated with 3D ***,different applications demand different levels of detail(LoD).Currently,City Geography Markup Language(CityGML),as the Open Geospatial Consortium standard,is being used to model and represent buildings in different LoDs(LoD0–LoD4),but it does not provide methods to generate different LoDs ***,generalized(abstracted)3D scenes of buildings need to be generated to fulfill the demands of task-specific applications by reducing data *** paper discusses various ways to generalize building models,within the framework of CityGML,reducing the level of detail from higher LoD to *** LoD4 data is parsed and *** heuristics are applied to simplify the ground plan and the results are then *** minimum length of an edge for simplification is restricted to the CityGML generalization specifications provided and is characterized by differing accuracies and minimal dimensions of objects for LoD1 and *** could maintain the accuracy of generalized objects and avoid the elimination or merging of important ***,the heights of the walls of the simplified ground plans are raised with the aim to construct simplified 3D building *** for simplification and aggregation aiming to derive LoD2 and LoD1 are implemented and tested on a number of buildings of Putrajaya,*** experiment results show that the minimum length of edges to be simplified is inversely proportional to the size of generalized models.

Over the past 5 years,many works have been performed to reveal the potentials of Zinc(Zn)-based materials as temporary bone scaffolds with the expectation that their emergence could address some of the main concerns associated with magnesium-and iron-based *** to the emerging Additive Manufacturing(AM)technology,it facilitates the optimization of the design and production of topological porous Zn-based materials suited for bone *** the studies on the porous Zn-based scaffolds are on the rise,we provide the most current progress in the development of porous Zn-based scaffolds for bone *** impacts of recently developed topological design from the AM as well as the advanced dynamic-flow corrosion on their corrosion,mechanical properties,and in vitro biocompatibility are also ***,we identify a number of research gaps and the challenges encountered in adopting porous Zn-based scaffolds for orthopedic applications and suggest some promising areas for future research.
