Glyphosate （N-phosphonomethyl glycine） is the most used herbicide worldwide. The degradation of ^14C-labeled glyphosate was studied under controlled laboratory conditions in three different agricultural soils： a silt clay loam, a clay loam and a sandy loam soil. The kinetic and intensity of glyphosate degradation varied considerably over time within the same soil and among different types of soil. Our results demonstrated that the mineralization rate of glyphosate was high at the beginning of incubation and then decreased with time until the end of the experiment. The same kinetic was observed for the water extractable residues. The degradation of glyphosate was rapid in the soil with low adsorption capacity （clay loam soil） with a short half-life of 4 days. However, the persistence of glyphosate in high adsorption capacity soils increased, with half-live of 19 days for silt clay loam soil and 14.5 days for sandy loam soil. HPLC analyses showed that the main metabolite of glyphosate, arninomethylphosphonic acid （AMPA） was detected after three days of incubation in the extracts of all three soils. Our results suggested that the possibility of contamination of groundwater by glyphosate was high on a long-term period in soils with high adsorption capacity and low degrading activities and/or acid similar to sandy loam soil. This risk might be faster but less sustainable in soil with low adsorption capacity and high degrading activity like the clay loam soil. However, the release of non-extractable residues may increase the risk of contamination of groundwater regardless of the type of soil.

One-dimensional open channel flows are simulated using the discontinuous Galerkin finite element method. Three different explicit time marching schemes, including multistep/multistage schemes, are evaluated for different channel shapes for accuracy and efficiency. The Forward Euler, second-order Adam-Bashforth （multistep）, and second-order total variation diminishing （TVD） Runge-Kutta （multistage） time marching schemes are utilized. The role of monotonized central, minmod, and zero TVD slope limiters for each of the time marching scheme is investigated. The numerical flux is approximated using HLL function. The accuracy and robustness of different time marching schemes are evaluated for steady and unsteady flows using analytical and measured data. The unsteady flows include dam break tests with wet and dry beds downstream of the dam in prismatic （rectangular, trapezoidal, triangular, and parabolic cross-sections） and non-prismatic （natural river） channels. The steady flow test involves simulation of hydraulic jump in a diverging rectangular channel. The various schemes are evaluated by comparing accuracy using statistical measures and efficiency using maximum possible time step size as well as CPU runtime. The second-order Adam-Bashforth time marching scheme is found to have the best accuracy and efficiency among the time stepping schemes tested.

Objective:To evaluate the mosquito larvicidal activity of plant ***:The hexane,chloroform,ethyl acetate,acetone,and methanol leaf,flower and seed extracts of Abrus precatorius（***）,Croton bonplandianum（***）,Cynodon dactylon （***）,Musa paradisiaca（***） and Syzygium aromaticum（***） were tested against fourth instar larvae of Anopheles vagus（***）,Armigeres subalbatus （***） and Culex vishnui（***）.Results:The highest larval mortality was found in seed ethyl acetate extracts of *** and leaf extracts of ***, flower chloroform and methanol extracts of ***,and flower bud hexane extract of S. aromaticum against *** with LC50 values of 19.31,39.96,35.18,79.90 and 85.90μg/mL;leaf ethyl acetate and methanol extracts of ***,flower methanol extract of ***, flower bud methanol extract of *** against *** with LC50 values of 21.67, 32.62,48.90 and 78.28μg/mL,and seed methanol of ***,flower methanol extract of ***,flower bud hexane extract of *** against *** with LC50 values of 136.84,103.36 and 149.56μg/mL,***:These results suggest that the effective plant crude extracts have the potential to be used as an ideal ecofriendly approach for the control of disease *** study provides the first report on the larvicidal activity of crude solvent extracts of different mosquitoes.

The effect of pre-treatment of dewatered sludge using different nitrite concentrations and p H for microbial fuel cell(MFC) application was investigated. The results show that the addition of nitrite was feasible to increase the solubilization rate of the sludge and may reduce mass transfer limitation at the anode. This helped the MFC to reach higher voltage and to generate more power. The higher free nitrous acid(FNA) concentration under the acidic condition helped to increase sludge solubilization. However, under an alkaline condition, during which the FNA concentration was relatively low, the solubilization of the sludge was higher. The highest voltage and power density produced was 390 mV and 153 mW/m^2, respectively, with the addition of nitrite at 100 mg-N/L and pH 9. Furthermore,it was found that elevated levels of FNA could inhibit electrogenic bacteria thus reducing power generation.

Objective:To evaluate the larvicidal and repellent activities of ethyl acetate and methanol extracts of Acacia concinna（***）,Cassia siamea（***）.Conundrum sativum（C. sativum）,Cuminum cyminum（***）,Lantana camma（***）,Nelumbo nucifera （***） Phyllanlhus amarus（***）.Piper nigrum（***） and Trachyspermum ammi（***） against Anopheles stephensi（***） and Culex quinquefasciatus（Cx. quinquefasciatus）.Methods:The larvicidal activity of medicinal plant extracts were tested against earl) fourth-instar larvae of malaria and filariasis *** mortality was observed 24 h and 48 h after treatment,data were subjected to probit analysis to determine the lethal concentrations(LC50 and LC90) to kill 50 and 90 per cent of the treated larvae of the tested species. Non-uniform linear array(NULA)configurations are well renowned due to their structural ability for providing increased degrees of freedom(DOF)and wider array aperture than uniform linear arrays(ULAs).These characteristics play a significant role in improving the direction-of-arrival(DOA)estimation ***,most of the existing NULA geometries are primarily applicable to circular sources(CSs),while they limitedly improve the DOF and continuous virtual aperture for noncircular sources(NCSs).Toward this purpose,we present a triaddisplaced ULAs(Tdis-ULAs)configuration for *** TdisULAs structure generally consists of three ULAs,which are appropriately *** proposed antenna array approach fully exploits the non-circular characteristics of the *** the same number of elements,the Tdis-ULAs design achieves more DOF and larger hole-free co-array aperture than its sparse array ***,the number of uniform DOF,optimal distribution of elements among the ULAs,and precise element positions are uniquely determined by the closed-form ***,the proposed array also produces a filled resulting *** simulations are conducted to show the performance advantages of the proposed Tdis-ULAs configuration over its counterpart designs.

The influence of nitrogen content on the precipitation of secondary phases and the tensile strength of Alloy 718 during gas tungstenarc welding was investigated. Various types of precipitates were characterized using scanning electron microscopy and transmission electronmicroscopy. The results showed that in the fusion zone, the volume fraction of Nb-rich phases such as Laves, (Nb,Ti)C, and δ phases, as wellas Ti-rich phases such as (Ti,Nb)CN and (Ti,Nb)N, increased with increase in the nitrogen content due to the microsegregation of Nb and Tiwithin interdendritic areas. Nitrogen was also found to decrease the size of γ′′ particles within γ dendrites. For precipitates in the partiallymelted zone, constitutional liquation was observed for both (Nb,Ti)C and (Ti,Nb)N particles. Based on the results of tensile tests, the weld containing0.015wt% nitrogen exhibited the highest ultimate tensile strength (UTS), whereas more addition of nitrogen led to a decrease in both theUTS and yield strength due to the increased content of brittle Laves phases and decreased size of γ′′.
