In Vitro-In Vivo antidiabetic effect of Pleurotus florida mycelia was evaluated using enzymes,yeast cell and in streptozotocin induced type 2 diabetic(T2D)animal *** mycelia was prepared by submerged fermentation *** fungal biomass was organically extracted using mixture of ethanol and *** extractives yield of 14.3%w/w was obtained in hydroalcoholic solvent with dielectric constant-δvalue of 78.2(EX78).*** mycelia extract(EX 78)shows higher antioxidant power with 86.87%free radical scavenging activity and with 75.29 reducing ***-vitroα-amylase inhibition,α-glucosidase inhibition and glucose uptake activity of EX 78 shows higher *** *** mycelia extract(EX 78)is also found to be effective in controlling of blood glucose and insulin level in streptozotocin-nicotinamide induced T2D *** blood glucose was reduced to 216±6.21 mg/dl from 357±0.34 mg/dl and the insulin level was increased to 0.423±0.006 ng per mL from 0.164±0.03 ng/mL in *** treated *** higher fatty acids,C20-eicosane;C24-tetracosane and C30-squalene present in *** mycelium extract was found to be effective in inhibiting human intestinalα-glucosidase and pancreaticα-*** *** mushroom is found to be effective in controlling high blood glucose elevated liver and cardiac *** of this mushroom is suitable for controlling blood glucose level in person with hyperglycaemia.

Cell disruption focuses on obtaining a desired bioproduct within a cell, and it is the cell wall that must be disrupted to allow access to the contents of the cell. In animal cells, the plasma membrane is the only barrier separating cell contents from the environment. Sound waves from sonication, a mechanical technique for cell disintegration, have been used to disrupt as well as to aggregate cells as a step towards purification of a desired bioproduct. In the present study, an improved sonication process for the high yield of Newcastle disease virus （NDV） propagated in tissue culture was described. DF-I cell was cultured in 25cm^2 T flask. When cells were about 80% confluent, a lentogenic strain of NDV （F strain） was used to infect the cell monolayer. With evident cytopathic effect, cells were subjected to cycles of freeze-thaw before sonicating with varying combinations of amplitude, temperature and time. Cells were sonicated using a water bath Sonicator, Jac Ultrasonic 1505 JEIO TECH 4 KHz. From ANOVA analysis, a significant interaction between sonication time and amplitude was observed. This also corresponds to the highest F value observed.

Construction of S-scheme MnO_(2)@CdS heterojunction with core–shell structure as H_(2)-production photocatalyst

Artificial photosynthesis is deemed as an efficient protocol for transforming abundant solar energy into valuable fuel. In this paper, the well-defined one-dimensional(1D) core–shell MnO_(2)@CdS hybrids were constructed by employing MnO_(2) nanotubes and CdS nanoparticles as nano-building blocks via a chemical coprecipitation route. The rationally designed core–shell structure provided an intimate heterojunction interface between the CdS shell and MnO_(2) core. All the MnO_(2)@CdS core–shell nanocomposites possess higher H_(2) evolution rate through visible light irradiation contrary to pristine CdS, and the optimal MnO_(2)@CdS hybrid exhibits the utmost H_(2) evolution rate of 3.94 mmol·g^(-1)·h^(-1), which is2.8-fold higher compared with that of CdS. Appertaining to XPS and Mott-Schottky(M-S) analysis, such enhanced photocatalytic H_(2) generation of MnO_(2)@CdS heterojunction was ascribed to an S-scheme mechanism, which suppressed the charge recombination along with a fast detachment of electron–hole pairs(e^(-)–h^(+)) and significantly improved the severance of carriers, thus improved H_(2) evolution performance. These findings envision a new insight into the development of S-scheme heterostructure for photocatalytic H_(2) generation.

A series of pyrano[4,3‐b]pyran derivatives have been synthesized in excellent yields by the reaction of aromatic aldehydes with malononitrile or cyanoacetate and 4‐hydroxy‐6‐methylpyran‐2‐one in water at 80 °C, with the transformation being catalyzed by an aqueous solution of thiourea dioxide(TUD). Upon completion of the reaction, the product was isolated by filtration or extraction and the remaining aqueous TUD solution could be reused several times without any discernible impact on its catalytic activity. This procedure offers several advantages over existing procedures, including high yields, operational simplicity, the use of a non‐toxic catalyst and solvent, short reaction time and minimum pollution of the environment, making it a useful and attractive process for the preparation of pyrano[4,3‐b]pyran derivatives.

An facile and efficient protocol for the synthesis of 13‐aryl‐indeno[1,2‐b]naphtha[1,2‐e]pyran‐ 12(13H)‐ ones has been developed that proceeds via the one‐pot three‐component sequential reaction of an aromatic aldehyde with β‐naphthol and 2H‐indene‐1,3‐dione under solvent‐free conditions in the presence of a poly(4‐vinylpyridinium)hydrogen sulfate(P(4‐VPH)HSO4) catalyst. The catalyst can be reused several times, making this procedure facile, practical, and sustainable. The simple experimental procedure, solvent‐free reaction conditions, use of an inexpensive catalyst, short react time, and excellent yields are some of the major advantages of this methodology.

This case report aims to report an uncommon case of bee sting keratopathy with retained stinger.A 55-year-old man presented with left cornea bee sting while gardening two days prior to first *** complained of severe eye pain with redness,tearing and blurring of *** examination,his right eye visual acuity was 6/6 and in left eye was hand *** was generalized conjunctival hyperemia and cornea showing significant descemet striae.A bee stinger with surrounding infiltration noted at 2 o'clock was associated with striate *** was deeply seated at the posterior third of cornea stroma near to paracentral *** was mid-dilated with absence of relative afferent pupillary *** was neither hypopyon nor *** posterior segment could not be visualized due to severe corneal ***,B-scan ultrasound was *** stinger was removed under local anaesthesia on the day of ***-operatively,patient was administered with topical moxifloxacin and topical non steroidal anti-inflammatory *** weeks later,there was resolution of cornea infiltrate with improvement of striate keratitis and his vision was improved to 1/***,cornea edema did not regress but ended up with bullous *** patient has undergone descemet-stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty and his vision was improved to 6/*** recommend early stinger removal to reduce the possible sequelae of bee sting toxicity for better visual outcome.

A study dealing with the marine fungi associated with decaying wood samples in the brackish water mangrove ecosystem and shoreline ecosystem was carried out in south India.A total of 19 marine fungi were isolated from the brackish water mangrove *** included 13 Ascomycetes,one Basidiomycete and five Mitosporic *** terms of percent frequency of occurrence,the most frequent species obtained from the brackishwater were the Lignincola longirostris(16.60%)and Savoryella lignicola(12.09%).Nine species were found *** species were occasionally *** mangrovei,Aniptodera mangrovei and Halosarpheia marina were the rare species *** average number of isolates per wood sample was 1.53.A total of 27 marine fungi including 15 ascomycetes,one basidiomycete and ten mitosporic fungi were recorded from the shoreline *** terms of percent frequency of occurrence,the most frequent species obtained from Kanyakumari were the Arenariomyces trifurcates(13.66%),Corollospora maritima(12.44%),and Cirrenalia pygmea(10.98%).Seven species were found *** species were occasionally *** species were found to be rare in *** average number of isolates per wood sample was 1.21.

Simple Quantitation of Flucytosine in Low Volume Serum Samples and Evaluation of Common Endogenous Interferences by HPLC-UV

5-Fluorocytosine (5-FC) is used for the treatment of several infections. It is extremely important to monitor blood level concentration for maximum activity to avoid its side effects. A simple, faster, and more accurate analytical method is developed and validated using high-performance liquid chromatography with UV detection in a very low-volume serum sample. Exactly 50 μL of serum was precipitated with 5% trichloroacetic acid. After mixing and centrifugation, 20 μL of supernatant was injected into the HPLC column. Detection was performed at 280 nm. The method is very specific and free from interfering substances due to different drugs and their different circulating metabolites. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) were found to be 0.50 μg/L and 1.0 μg/L, respectively. The method was linear in the range of 5 - 150 μg/L in the serum sample. In method comparison, the correlation coefficient r2 was 0.999 and the percentage recovery was 90% - 105% on four levels of the quality control samples. Within run and between run precision was found to be less than 2.2% at four different concentrations (5, 25, 50, and 100 μg/L). A simple, faster, and more accurate HPLC-UV method is developed which is very useful for monitoring 5-FC concentration in low volume serum samples without evaporation step and ion exchange chromatography within minutes.

Introduction: Pleural effusion (PF) is a common clinical presentation in several diseases. Tuberculosis is one of the most frequent causes of exudative pleural effusions in immunocompetent patients. Tuberculosis is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality from an infectious disease in developing countries. Pakistan is ranked fifth in the world in terms of tuberculosis high-burden countries. Various pleural fluid parameters have been used to identify the cause of pleural effusion. It has been discovered that tuberculous pleural effusions had a greater alkaline phosphatase (ALP) concentration than transudative effusions. This study used pleural fluid alkaline phosphatase levels to distinguish between tuberculous pleural effusion and malignant pleural effusion because there is little information from tuberculosis-high burden nations like Pakistan. Study Design: A descriptive cross-sectional study conducted at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center in Karachi between October 2016 and October 2017. Material and Methods: The study comprised all patients who were admitted to the department of chest medicine at Jinnah post graduate medical centre (JPMC) of either gender between the ages of 18 and 70 who had exudative lymphocytic pleural effusions lasting two weeks or more included in the study. Non probability consecutive sampling was used to collect data. Patients who have tonsillitis, pharyngitis, pneumonia, asthma, Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or a history of hemoptysis, Bleeding disorders like, platelet function disorder, thrombocytopenia, Liver cirrhosis and Pregnant women were excluded. Parents’ informed consent was obtained after being informed of the study’s protocol, hazards, and advantages. Each patient had their level of pleural fluid alkaline phosphate (PALP) assessed.
