BACKGROUND Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has been shown to increase the risk of ***,the prevalence and risk of recurrent stroke in COVID-19 patients with prior stroke/transient ischemic attack(TIA),as well as its impact on mor-tality,are not *** To evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on in-hospital mortality,length of stay,and healthcare costs in patients with recurrent *** We identified admissions of recurrent stroke(current acute ischemic stroke admissions with at least one prior TIA or stroke)in patients with and without COVID-19 using ICD-10-CM codes using the National Inpatient Sample(2020).We analyzed the impact of COVID-19 on mortality following recurrent stroke admissions by *** Of 97455 admissions with recurrent stroke,2140(2.2%)belonged to the COVID-19-positive *** COVID-19-positive group had a higher prevalence of diabetes and chronic kidney disease vs the COVID-19 negative group(P65 years,patients aged 45–64 years,Asians,Hispanics,whites,and blacks in the COVID-19 positive group had higher rates of all-cause mortality than the COVID-19 negative group(P65(OR:7.04,95%CI:5.24-9.44),males(OR:7.82,95%CI:5.38-11.35)compared to females(OR:6.15,95%CI:4.12-9.18),and in Hispanics(OR:15.47,95%CI:7.61-31.44)and Asians/Pacific Islanders(OR:14.93,95%CI:7.22-30.87)compared to blacks(OR:5.73,95%CI:3.08-10.68),and whites(OR:5.54,95%CI:3.79-8.09).CONCLUSION The study highlights the increased risk of all-cause in-hospital mortality in recurrent stroke patients with COVID-19,with a more pronounced increase in middle-aged patients,males,Hispanics,or Asians.

The centrifugal pump is a prevalent power equipment widely used in different engineering patterns,and the impeller blade wrap angle significantly impacts its performance.A numerical investigation was conducted to analyze the influence of the blade wrap angle on flow characteristics and energy distribution of a centrifugal pump evaluated as a low specific speed with a value of *** study investigates six impellermodels that possess varying blade wrap angles(95°,105°,115°,125°,135°,and 145°)that were created while maintaining the same volute and other geometrical *** investigation of energy loss was conducted to evaluate the values of total and entropy generation rates(TEG,EGR).The fluid-structure interaction was considered numerically using the software tools ANSYS Fluent and *** elastic structural dynamic equation was used to estimate the structural response,while the shear stress transport k–ωturbulence model was utilized for the fluid domain *** findings suggest that the blade wrap angle has a significant influence on the efficiency of the *** impeller featuring a blade wrap angle of 145°exhibits higher efficiency,with a notable increase of 3.76%relative to the original *** in the blade wrap angle impact the energy loss,shaft power,and pump *** model with a 145°angle exhibited a maximum equivalent stress of 14.8MPa and a total deformation of 0.084 *** results provide valuable insights into the intricate flow mechanism of the centrifugal pump,particularly when considering various blade wrap angles.

The road construction industry aims to contribute to the protection of already compromised *** mix asphalt(CMA)is a measure initiated by the road industry to protect the environment and preserve *** having additional benefits,CMA has attracted little attention due to its inferior ***'s performance is enhanced using a sustainable binder bio-modifier,natural cup lump rubber(CLR)is one of *** study evaluated the tensile properties,rutting,moisture susceptibility,and adhesion properties of CLR-modified CMA(CMA-CR).The tensile property was enhanced by 26%due to CLR ***-CR had excellent rutting resistance of less than 2 mm rut depth at 10,000 load cycles,showing 70%improvement compared with conventional *** susceptibility evaluation indicated that CMA-CR had tensile strength ratio(TSR)value of 104%,satisfying the minimum 80%requirement of AASHTO *** also retained more than 96%bitumen *** moisture damage resistance was improved by 12%and 10%in terms of TSR and stripping,*** durability results revealed that the CMA-CR mixture prevented higher mass loss,representing 14%improvement compared with conventional CMA.

Organic dye pollutants present in wastewater pose a significant global challenge. Among pollutants, the synthetic dye Rhodamine B(RB) stands out due to its non-biodegradable nature and associated neurotoxic, carcinogenic,and respiratory irritant properties. Extensive research has been conducted on the efficacy of adsorption and photodegradation techniques for the removal of RB from wastewater. While adsorption and advanced oxidation processes(AOPs) have gained considerable attention for their effectiveness in recent years, the underlying behaviors and mechanisms of these technologies remain incompletely understood. Therefore, a comprehensive of recent research progress in this domain is imperative to clarify the basics and present the up-to-date *** review provides an in-depth exploration of the fundamentals, advancements, and future trajectories of RB wastewater treatment technologies, mainly encompassing adsorption and photodegradation. This work starts with a general introduction of outlining the sources, toxicity, and diverse applicable removal strategies. Subsequently, it thoroughly examines crucial techniques within non-photochemical, photochemical, and adsorption technologies, such as UV light assisted AOP, catalyst assisted AOP, ozonation, Fenton system, electrochemical AOP, and adsorption technology. The primary objective is to furnish a broad overview of these techniques,elucidating their effectiveness, limitations, and applicability. BACKGROUND Transcatheter aortic valve replacement(TAVR)is a revolutionary procedure for severe aortic *** coexistence of chronic kidney disease(CKD)and TAVR introduces a challenge that significantly impacts patient *** To define readmission rates,predictors,and causes after TAVR procedure in CKD stage 1-4 *** We used the national readmission database 2018 and 2020 to look into readmission rates,causes and predictors after TAVR procedure in patients with CKD stage *** Out of 24758 who underwent TAVR and had CKD,7892(32.4%)patients were readmitted within 90 days,and had higher adjusted odds of being females(adjusted odds ratio:1.17,95%CI:1.02-1.31,P=0.02)with longer length of hospital stay>6 days,and more comorbidities including but not limited to diabetes mellitus,anemia,and congestive heart failure(CHF).CONCLUSION Most common causes of readmission included CHF(18.0%),sepsis,and complete atrioventricular *** readmission predictors with very close followup is warranted to prevent such high rate of readmission.

Microalgae cultivation in photobioreactors（PBRs） has emerged as a promising and sustainable approach to address various environmental and energy challenges, offering a multitude of benefits across diverse *** developments in microalgae cultivation in photobioreactors have contributed substantially to the development and optimization of sustainable bioprocesses. This review presents a comprehensive analysis of recent innovations and breakthroughs in the field of microalgae cultivation, with a specific focus on their application in photobioreactors, aimed at paving the way for a greener future. This study in-depth examines the advantages of microalgae cultivation in photobioreactors, concentrating on its effectiveness in wastewater treatment, CO2bioremediation, and the production of biofuels and high-value products. The review evaluates the effects of light,solar irradiation, temperature, nitrogen and phosphorus concentrations in culture media, CO2concentrations, and pH on microalgae growth performance, including specific growth and biomass productivity. The study also examines open systems like unstirred ponds, raceway ponds, and circular ponds and closed systems like horizontal tubular, vertical bubble-column, airlift, flat panel, and plastic-bag photobioreactors, comparing their pros and cons. To optimize microalgae cultivation, key factors in photobioreactor design, including photosynthetic efficiencies, light/dark（L/D） cycles, CO2concentrations, mass transfer, hydrodynamics behavior, and p H, are extensively investigated. In addition, the review outlines recent developments in large-scale photobioreactors and highlights the challenges and opportunities associated with photobioreactor scale-up and design parameter optimization, including genetic engineering and economic feasibility.
