The considerable post-harvest losses (5% to 40% depending on storage time) due to the high water content level of the onion varieties in senegal are the main cause of the problem of access to local onion all year round. Therefore, drying is one of the techniques that can be used to solve the problem of onion perishability. This study deals with the characterization of naturally convective kinetics drying of four onion varieties in relation to their maturity level. The experiment was carried out using the gravimetric method. The Welch and Turkey statistical tests display a significant difference between the effective diffusivity coefficients depending on the maturity level within each variety and across the four varieties. The effective diffusivity coefficients of the Galmi Violet, Safari, Gandiol F1 and Orient F1varieties range from 2.18 × 10−11 ± 2.69 × 10−12 to 1.32 × 10−10 ± 1.17 × 10−11 m2⋅s−1 at a maturity level less than 80%. When the maturity level is greater than 85%, the effective diffusivity coefficients range from 1.30 × 10−11 ± 1.24 × 10−12 to 8.05 × 10−11 ± 8.94 × 10−13 m2⋅s−1. As far as the activation energy is concerned, the study only reveals a significant difference between the varieties whatever the maturity level is. The Galmi Violet variety stands out with an average activation energy of 66.71 ± 0.12 KJ⋅mol−1 K−1 for the maturity level below 80% and 58.74 ± 0.11 KJ⋅mol−1 for the maturity level above 85%. For the three remaining varieties, the average activation energy ranges from 58.15 ± 0.19 to 59.12 ± 0.13 KJ⋅mol−1 for a maturity level less than 80% whereas the rates go from 47.63 ± 0.28 to 49.96 ± 0.77 KJ⋅mol−1 when the maturity level is greater than 85%. Assessment of Obstetric Evacuations: Received during the Year 2020 at the Touba Ndamatou Public Health Hospital Establishment

The counter-referral system is particularly important for care during pregnancy, childbirth and the post-partum period as it facilitates access to emergency obstetric and neonatal care. It allows people to access care that is not likely to be provided at the base and to manage certain complications arising in emergency settings. We therefore looked at the evaluation of obstetric evacuations from the Touba Ndamatou public health. Methodology: This was a retrospective study of descriptive and analytical type extending over a period of 12 months from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020 at the public hospital health establishment (PHHE) of Touba Ndamatou. Results: One thousand five hundred and sixty (1560) patients evacuated for obstetrical reasons were collected out of a total admission of 5560, i.e., a frequency of 28%. The average age of the patients was 25.54 years. The mean gestation was 3.24 pregnancies. The average parity was 3.04 deliveries. Almost all of our patients (99%) were married. Slightly more than one in two women (53.6%) had performed at least 2 or 3 Prenatal consultations. 80% of parturients had traveled a distance of less than 20 km. 623 patients came by their own means (54.6%). Evacuation was provided by an ambulance in 509 patients, i.e., 44.6%. Arterial hypertension and its complications were the frequent reason for evacuations with approximately one in four patients (26.2%). Only 3.6% of patients had qualified personnel on board being evacuated. In our series, 13 deaths were recorded, i.e., 1.1% of cases. The distance traveled seemed not to influence the future of the mother (p = 0.51). The non-accompaniment of the patient during the evacuation by a medical staff seemed to influence the prognosis of the mother (p = 0.031). Fetal morbidity was higher among evacuees not accompanied by medical personnel. Upper urinary tract lithiasis is a condition characterized by the presence of stones which is a stony concretion of crystallized substances in the kidney and/or ureter. Objective: The objective of this work is to study the epidemiological, clinical and therapeutic aspects of upper urinary tract stones on the one hand, then to compare the different types of surgical treatments and their results. Materials and Methods: This is a retrospective and descriptive study focusing on the surgical management of upper urinary tract stones, between January 2017 and December 2020, at the Urology department of the Hopital General Idrissa Pouye. Results: During the study period, 7.59% of surgical interventions performed were related to the treatment of upper urinary tract stones. Average age was 45.20 ± 16.4 years, the age group [41 - 60] years was more affected with 42.68%. A history of urolithiasis was present in 25.52% of cases. Lower back pain was present in 97.48% of cases. On URO-CT scan, the stone was located more at the level of the ureter (49.57%). The size between 10 to 15 mm was more frequent (30.96%) and the density greater than 1000 HU was more frequent (33.47%). The most used therapeutic procedure was ureteroscopy (52.08%), followed by PCNL (40.83%) and open surgery (7.08%). The success rate (stone free) was 93.68% for the URS, 89.36% for the PCNL. The length of hospital stay for open surgery was 6.76 ± 4.25, for PCNL 2.62 ± 2 days and for URS 1.75 ± 1.62 days. Postoperative complications were present in 23.52% for open surgery, 11.22% for PCNL and 8% for URS. Conclusion: Urolithiasis is constantly growing in our regions. Effective endourological treatment is increasingly replacing open surgery. However, global access to these new techniques in our regions is slow to be effective.
